Maggie Gyllenhaal is so ugly, why would the DA of Gotham and the prince of Gotham, billionaire Bruce Wayne fight over her? Totally not realistic. Christopher Nolan had a good run.

Man screw Rachel Dawes talk. Lets talk about how awesome sauce Batcave is gonna look!

There's gonna be a gigantic picture of Katie Holmes in there. I also want Bruce to be on a first name basis with each of the bats. Instead of a gigantic computer he is gonna have a high powered alienware laptop.

I thought it was strange too, but then when the Joker said she was beautiful, I finally realized that perhaps everyone in Gotham was insane.

Should have gone with Zatanna as Bruce childhood friend and love interest.

Well I would rather have supernatural-mystical than
bs science IE "portable" microwave emitter
or
impossibly perfect timing IE joker's planning

I'll let Nolan know.

Seriously though, that's what I'd like for the next set of Batman movies. I hope they really try going somehwere different after this trilogy is complete. Not that I don't love the fuck out of these ones, I feel like after three movies, we've seen the grounded in reality played out to just about perfection. Let's get fucking crazy next time.

Just finished watching Dark Knight. Freaking awesome.

Although, I guess I wasn't paying much attention during this part because I didn't get it; why did Batman save Dent instead of Rachel? Did the Joker give him the wrong directions on purpose, or Batman purposefully wanted to save Harvey?

Yes.

Whoever Batman really wanted to save, he'd just end up saving the other one.

Yea Joker did a bit of a switcheroo. I found it odd that no one cared that he went after Rachel.

Yeah. Joker was a lying bitch. Loved it. Don't know if it was on purpose or not, but I liked that it kind of fulfils Alfreds warning from Begins to Bruce about how Batman can't be personal or people will get hurt. Bruce doesn't listen, and Rachel dies. Which also works great in a "now there is no Bruce Wayne" kind of way if you want to think she was his last link to a normal life. It's like the last tragic step to him fully becoming Batman. I'll stop now before my Batman nerdiness explodes.

Batman is going to be a huge hit, why would they waste 3 million when most of the people watching the super bowl will see batman?

Much better investment to spend millions extra on advertising a film that could reach a billion dollars or more than to save it and use it for something else. 10 million in marketing in very expensive slots could net them 100 million more in revenue. Not everyone is obsessed with Batman, part of the reason Dark Knight did so well was because of the free advertising and hype built from Heath Ledger's death. Of course once the initial wave of people got to the theaters it was the quality of the film that gave it legs.

Yeah, not advertising during the biggest TV event of the year is pretty nuts. Obviously the movie will do fine still, not going to bomb as a result or anything. But, at least air the trailer that is already out.

If her healing power is high enough she can probably help Batman in the Bane fight.

Burn.

I just saw mi3 and with it, dark knight rises short. Holy shit, this movie will be amazing. But! I really couldn't understand bane at all! I'm actually worried that might run the movie.

You may be greeted by an interesting video if you type in The Fire Rises on you tube. Was really surprised by this, I was searching for a soundtrack but stumbled onto it.

Can't recall the last time Warner Brothers has advertised during the Super Bowl, at least for their Summer tentpoles. It doesn't usually hurt them. Maybe you could make a case for Green Lantern, but the opening weekend wasn't the problem, it was the fact that the movie sucked.

I don't see the purpose in airing a TDKR ad during the Super Bowl. In terms of pure awareness factor, TDKR is as big as it gets. If you haven't been convinced to see it yet despite two previous films and/or haven't seen a trailer at either Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, or seen the prologue in addition to the constant news that you see about the film, I'm not sure what good a 30 second ad is going to do on top of what's already been established, especially when there's so many other films and commercials vying for your attention already.

There is just no reason not to. The last one was a 1 billion dollar movie, up from 300-400 million for Batman Begins, mostly on the Heath Ledger free promotion and quality of the film. The goal now is to hit that 1 billion mark again and go beyond. They have to start a huge marketing campaign, even if everyone knows what Batman is most aren't that fanatical about it. It needs to seap into the public consciousness. Besides you really think they will penny pinch over a few million when they know they have a possible titanic hit on their hands?

I Would agree but this is the third film in the franchise. Everyone will know about it, it will be huge.

You are really overstating the importance of SB spots for summer movies. Especially a movie that comes out over 6 months after the SB. There's a reason only a couple of studios are even doing it this year.

They're not gonna penny pinch, they're going to start the huge marketing campaign probably somewhere around May, and it will be damn near constant until July 20th. Warner knows what they're doing. They're consistently one of the highest grossing studios every year for a reason. It will seep into the consciousness, but Warner isn't looking to have a 30 second ad and then have nothing to show for it until May when the film will actually be near completion. And you also don't want to want to hit peak hype too early either.

Worldwide, it would be downright shocking if TDKR does not hit 1 billion considering it will probably release in China this time around and more IMAX theaters contributing to gross. Also screen counts will have increased considerably since 2008. Domestically, I expect TDKR to fall considerably short of TDK, but worldwide gains will make up for it and then some. It's not that hard to hit a billion anymore as evidenced by the three films that were able to do it in 2011 (Transformers, Pirates, and Harry Potter)

Oh wait a minute, I read that completely wrong, I thought they were gonna spend the money on a superbowl ad and others were arguing against it. Anyways I would have spent the money if I were them but I agree that it doesn't matter all that much compared to the real marketing campaign that will begin later.
