The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

We have never gotten confirmation of that in North America.

why should we assume that it's the case in japan but not here? i know that japan prices game at a range of prices, but all of the psn versions are cheaper than their retail counterparts. i'd say it's more likely to be the case here than not.

Japan also got the UMD program whereas they haven't said anything about it over here.

PSP games also launched less than MSRP in Japan on PSN.

They didn't in North America.

I would not expect it. StuBurns is wrong though PSN titles do drop in price.
I didn't mean literally, but if you compare retail pricing, it's not comparable. Deus Ex with the DLC was discounted during the xmas sale to £50. That game was half that a month after launch.

It's true, prices go down on PSN, but it's not in lock step with retail, or even nearly close.

I got a reply from Jeff Rubenstein on Twitter about this. Let's hope it all happens before launch. They're cutting it way too close:

Me:
@jeffrubenstein @sidshuman Any hints when we'll know if there's truth behind PSN Vita games being "discounted" over retail copies?

@jeffrubenstein @sidshuman It's the thing that's keeping me from preordering a memory card or boxed games. Having all the info would be nice

Jeff:
@matthewrex @sidshuman noted. I don't know the exact date of it, but all prices will be revealed.

I'd be surprised if know the PSN pricing any time before 2/14/12. Grace Chen keeps that shit locked down.

Still no announcement for RO for the US?

I'd love for both Lord of Apocalypse and Ragnarok Odyssey to make it to NA but I'm not holding my breath at this point. I do think that it's not impossible that we would see one or both of these games eventually, and especially in this first year when software releases are more sparse and there's less competition.

I'd buy them, that's for sure.

I think the fact that no one else found an apparently mass-produced pamphlet and talked about it is a debunking in and of itself.

I guarantee they know the pricing. I just don't think they want any more pre-launch backlash. When the PSP Go launched when did they announce that PSN prices were identical to retail?

Oh, they for sure know the pricing of the PSN Vita games. But they sure as hell won't be telling us anytime soon.

The great PSN update of October 2010 was glorious for all PSP owners I don't think they announced the deep discounts in PSP titles ahead of the update, but I may be wrong. I can only hope that something similiar occurs on either 2/14 or 2/21.

I think it's safe to assume we're getting digital PSN titles at full retail prices.
SCEA would have actively publicized lower price points by now if they were in play.

I'm not paying $40 for Lumines on launch day at either retail or digitally so they can continue to play the waiting game without disclosing specifics for as long as they wish.

The demo for Tales of Innocence R is up.

:D

Strangely enough, the game's OP that plays before the title screen is the original DS opening. You then see the new one after watching the first few cutscenes.

No instruction manual in the package.

As I expected, the alarm clock app that came as the Tales reservation bonus is pretty much useless. It won't work if it isn't the active app on the screen, and the clock flashes during the screensaver (which makes it pretty annoying). I guess on the Vita dock as an alarm clock it would work okay, but again, flashing clock is annoying...

What...you make it sound like the game is bad

it's on the Vita, it's obviously going to suck - the sales will prove me right, let history be my witness!

i wasn't serious

It will sell better than all MonHans combined, because of the commercials on the Shibuya crossing today!
