I got both Epoch and Puzzlejuice. Both are okay. I'll play play Epoch more cause Puzzlejuice kinda sucks to play on iPhone. Epoch seems repetitive though. Maybe it's cause it forces easy difficulty

Oddly enough i play puzzlejuice on the iphone pretty much exclusively. I have an ipad i just prefer being able to pick and play whenever.

New Where's my Water update. It's an expansion unlocked via IAP. "Game within a game"

What's New in Version 1.3.5

THANK YOU FOR PLAYING! NOW TEST YOUR SKILLS WITH “CRANKY’S STORY”!

Cranky is the toughest alligator around and he has worked up an appetite from sabotaging Swampy’s water supply. He eats anything, especially all the rotting and disgusting junk found in the dumps and sewers. Cranky will not eat vegetables however, and now his food is covered with the vegetable-like algae. Use the dirty purple water to clean off Cranky’s plate so he can eat!

• Enjoy five of these new puzzles for free!

• Purchase the entire collection of Cranky’s Story for a one-time in-app purchase to unlock more than 50 super-challenging puzzles, including Cranky’s Challenge.

• Cranky’s Challenge is a game within a game. Four unique puzzle packs with 16 special levels for the most-skilled puzzle solvers.

Have you “Tri-Ducked” the game yet and completed all the bonus levels? Let us know at http://www.facebook.com/WheresMyWater

On my iPad 1 with iOS 4.3.5, Puzzlejuice is crashy (after a restart, yes).

And there's a weird bug: When I start another game after just having finished one, the game slows down every time a block is about to settle, basically freezing. But it still continues to accept input and advances game logic, it just doesn't render on. I have to exit the game and reenter it again to deal with that. The game likes to crash at that point.

I like the game, the ramping of the challenges is weird though. And I find it really hard to find words, although I'm pretty good at English Scrabble and the like. It's probably not faulty in that regard though, more like bad luck or whatever. They have obviously adjusted frequency of occurence and stuffs.

Anyone try this?

I...generally dislike Crescent Moon's games so I need Wario or someone to assure me that this isn't terrible.

Eh.

I just tried the first four levels. Graphics are decent ('cardboard' main character and paper enemies are nice). Control seems solid. Left thumb moves you back and forth, right thumb tap jumps and double jumps.

Platforming so far is pretty straightforward and bland. Standard run and jump on enemies heads fare. The only mix I've had in the levels so far is that part of the level is in the 'background' and you get there after jumping through a pipe and coming out the other end. Other than that, standard collect coins ('buttons') and jump on guys. No power ups yet. Also, you get 3 'hearts' for life. There's a checkpoint in the levels. But if you fall you have to restart (and you also lose all the progress on the main collectible in each level) no matter how many hearts you had.

I also managed to phase through some scenery in level 3. I literally jumped 'into' a pipe but not in the good way. Pretty sure I wasn't supposed to do that as I got stuck and had to hit jump a few times to get out, then fell through the background to get back to the level.

Unless the game changes pretty dramaticaly from here on out, it's pretty average so far.

That pretty much saves me the time of writing up my impressions. It's okay, but an easy pass unless you're hard up for a iPhone platformer and already played out all the superior options (unlikely). I'd like to offer the additional caveat that it runs pretty poorly on the 3GS.

lol. You have to decide between two $1 games?

Try a real "or" question with games of a higher value....

No I just don't really have time for either of them so it's one or none. I have no problem paying money but I have 20+ games on my iOS backlog and limiting purchases to 1-2 a week helps me deal with that.

I'm enjoying Paper Monsters. Very nice graphics similar to LBP/ Nuts and Bolts, and the jumping feels right. I was not expecting a Mario 3D Land caliber game, but it's enjoyable so far. Gonna keep playing.

I like that you can collect stuff in the levels (like the gold coins in Mario), and purchase accessories for your dude.

I kno what u mean and epoch is awesome havent played puzzlejuice. Also note never mention purchasing habits since apparently not buying every game at .99 or full price makes u insane.

Well, it does sound a bit crazy when spending $2 a week on apps is considered a big expense for some.

Personally I jus want save my credit for something I really want and not buy everything in sight like on steam. Purchase build up quick if I bought everything in sight. I just hate how apparently im a dumbass or cheap for not purchasing everything.

This man knows where it's at I have the money but not the time for 80% of my purchases

Wasn't implying that you're a dumb ass. Cheap though yes :p. If it interests you, why not pick it up? Just because you buy it doesn't mean you have to finish it. They're cheap enough to be "throw away" purchases if you end up not liking it.

I would prefer that Apple start a demo initiative. I like that on Windows Phone I can download any app and test it out before buying it. I'd save a lot of money on iOS if that were possible. Of course, admitting that would make anyone in the business continue on as usual since I'm not scaling back my purchases because of the lack of demos. My buddies with Android phones say they can return an app within 15 minutes of purchase. I like that option too.

I would be willing to pay more for the apps I do like, so much so that if every app had a demo if the typical price went to $2.99 for quality apps I wouldn't have a problem as I'd end up saving cash on the things that actually don't interest me. Demo's are the only reason the prices on the Windows Marketplace are tolerable actually.

Ahahahah Bandai Namco.

http://www.siliconera.com/2012/01/2...retro-you-need-to-insert-credits-to-play-them

Namco Bandai brought some of their 80s arcade games to iPhone. You can get Xevious, Phozon, Motos, and Tower of Druaga now. And just like actual arcade machines, you need to put in credits to play them.

Each day, you get one free play. After that, ten credits cost 80 yen ($1). Sure, each play is less than an actual arcade game (those are at least 100 yen), but 10 cents per Tower of Druaga credit seems a bit steep.

Players can compete for top scores on leaderboards and share replays online. You can download the Namco Arcade app here.

I found out that Push Cars is free today (ipad version too)

I tried the first five levels and seems like a cute, interesting puzzle game

Aaaaaaw yeeeaaaaah!!! Rage 2.0 update out with tons of improvements (incl graphical enhancements) and new levels (IAP but cheap, 2 levels for a buck I believe).

Been waiting for this for a long time! One of my absolute favorites on iOS finally got the update it deserved.

Also, those people who are saying Real Racing 2 and Infinity Blade 1 & 2 suck due to IAP... Srsly, what? These are some of my favorite games, I've put countless hours into them and I have never thought or looked at their IAP options, much less so ever felt like they were necessary to progress properly in any way. With RR2 it goes so far that I wasn't even AWARE of it somehow until people started whining about how this nearly hidden IAP stuff 'ruined' the game for them. Some of you guys are taking your anti-IAP fixation too far.

I think Puzzle Juice would work way better as some sort of DS / 3DS, or PS Vita game. The issue I have is the switching of controls -- I'll identically move when I wanted to write words, and I'll write words instead of moving blocks. If they used the D-Pad controls of those systems for the block moving, and then the touch screen for word making, it'd feel a whole lot better, in my opinion.

Also on iPhone having 10 tiles across is super difficult to deal with. I always fumble around with trying to write words, it never gets it right the first time.

Upcoming Bullet Hell Shooter: "Shogun: Rise of the Renegade"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=O4LzFRYe-1c

Being a huge SHMUP fan, this makes me happy.

Been playing Run Roo Run. Awsome game. Finished the main levels and now going through the extreme levels.

Looks good.

Hmm...erased it recently to make room for more stuff, but I'll have to squeeze it back on there somehow. Definitely one of my favorite iOS purchases thus far.

My friend and I are going to play our first 2 player reflec beat plus game later, any tipps to dominate?

I played 2 player with my gf the other day. Fun times. It just gets hectic when playing on medium/hard because of all the colorful crap on the screen, lol.

As for tips, I wish I could give great advice but I'm still learning as well. You just need great concentration. Seeing both your "notes" and your opponents "notes" can get very confusing at times. Also, those 3 green circles with triangles you see on the playfield on each side, you can try and hit those notes as well since they go along with the song but if you don't have good concentration, it'll be hard hitting those notes AND your respective color's notes, unless it's the basic difficulty.

If you're still trying to get the hang of it, stick to the main notes. But of course, if your friend still hasn't figured out what those 3 green circles do, then you can take advantage of that and pick up a few extra points. I didn't know what they were until I watched a youtube video that explained it.

Speaking of this game, 2 new music packs came out recently.

Also, since we're talking about music games, Osu!Stream was recently updated:

* Changed triggering of pause menu to an on-screen button (top-right). Should fix the menu triggering accidentally.
* Changed expert behaviour so autoplay/rankings can be viewed before unlocking the expert difficulty.
* Fixed game locking up when viewing song rankings.

New music should be coming soon as well.

Hey guys, I wanted to post about a game that's been developed by someone I used to work with back in the Krome days and I think is really neat.

Train Defense is a new take on the tower defense genre - you control a train that moves around the play field (you lay down track for it with your finger) shooting invading enemies with your upgradable carriages.

It's universal, only a buck, and fun.

In other news, has anyone else dramatically reduced their console gaming time since they got their iOS device? Not having to bore my wife with whatever console game I was playing has been awesome.

Having a kid brought iOS gaming to the fore for me. I will never fight against the Wiggles.

What's a good puzzle game for iphone?

What's a good puzzle game for iphone?

Word Puzzles - Spell Tower or W.E.L.D.E.R.
Match 3 - Triple Town or Bejeweled Blitz
Other - Where's My Water, Angry Birds, or Cut the Rope.

Right now, I'm loving Triple Town, it's very addictive.

Man I've been having so much fun lately with DoDonPachi Resurrection, Groove Coaster, Radballs and now the Rage HD update... Such great games. iOS gaming ftw.

Holy shit, Namco is easily the worst publisher around when it comes to digital distribution. Astonishing.
Namco have also been shit in other areas. I bought Time Crisis 2 based on the fact that it was "zomg hires retina ftw omg" but it doesn't pick up on the retina display in the 4S, (I guess) just the 4. Raised a support query and after them denying it supported it (I had to mail them the app store description saying it did!) they acknowledged it and said they'd look into it.

It still hasn't been patched AT ALL.

What's a good puzzle game for iphone?

Other options I don't think have been mentioned are:

Shibuya
Lumines
Piyo Blocks 2
Radballs

and yes, Drop 7, SpellTower, and Where's My Water are awesome too.

Those are seven great games right there that can last you for a while.
