The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

any hints that there will be a VIta Superbowl ad? do companies usually leak their superbowl ad campaigns 2 week before the game?

Companies will make sure that people know that they're going to be running an ad. EA certainly did that when they purchased ad time for Dante's Inferno. This year a 30 second ad will cost 3.5m.

Sega will be doing a Samurai and Dragons beta

To sign up for the beta, access PlayStation Store from today through February 8 via your Vita and download the Samurai & Dragon Beta Participation Raffle Ticket (サムライ&ドラゴンズ クローズドβ参加抽選券). Anyone with a PlayStation Vita can participate.

The test period will run from February 16 through February 29.

For JPN baseball GAF - a little look at the Vita version of Konami's Pro Baseball Spirits, coming March 29 along with PS3 and PSP versions.

Looks pretty similar to the PS3 version. Shame they haven't done any cross play stuff, as far as I know (?)

So about that Skype app... cancelled in Japan because of Docomo being difficult about calling for free? (even though they should only be worried about data rates.)

Is there anyone that can help me with Uncharted?
I'm in Chapter 29 trying to do the Amulet of God puzzle and cannot work it out

4GB vs. 8GB vs. 1.8GB

Vita's launch is with 4GB games, that number will expand. IIRC 3DS hasn't had any 8GB games.

Yeah, RER is the first game to use a 4GB cart on the 3DS. 8GB are in the reserve but are most likely a way off from commercial availability. Undoubtedly the same holds true for the Vita, Sony just isn't being as transparent with their plans as Macronix. So with that in mind I thin it's more fair to say:

4GB vs 4GB vs 1.8GB

Just discovered some old trailer about 'Frobisher Says!', a free game that comes with the pre-order package in Europe. Trailer.

Shit's so weirdly awesome.

I had a quick go at that in the Vita Room in the UK. Very bizarre. The latest version of Playstation Access TV shows a bit as well (on YouTube from Friday), including some more on the Vita.

Have Vita kiosks started showing up anywhere yet?

Apparently GAME (UK) are putting some out in the next few weeks

If Konami is planning on selling the MGS HD Collection this year they are going to need an 8GB cart.

And maybe that's why they haven't talked much about the project.

I pre-ordered the 3G model today :D The pre-order bonus was a "$20" PSN giftcard (not $20 directly converted, but something equivalent to that when taking the PS Store prices in the different regions into concideration). That means that i basically get Super Stardust and another $10 PSN game for free, i'm happy with that :)

The PS Vita (both models) is also "$50" cheaper here than i first thought it would be, so that was a plus for me as well.

What about the option to play games for like 1 hour on PS3 before buying them or something ? (like big demos ... does this work on all games now ?)

Now that we have a console that has ALL games as downloadable for day 1 it would be nice to include this feature.

I finally bought a Hong kong vita value pack. The hardware is excellent and surprisingly light. The analog sticks take some getting use to but I fear that the sticks might easily brake.

If anyone is on the wifi/3g fence then you could always get a MiFi...

I have an unlimited data (with tethering) iPhone so I'm not worried about usage itself (I can tether with the iPhone and get around any restrictions, in fact I get 10Mbps down at work so it'll probably be pretty decent). It's the unknown quantity of the hardware difference (and what it might mean for future apps and games) that has me wanting the 3G version personally.

assuming it is unlocked, you could get a giffgaff sim. http://giffgaff.com/goodybags#data £5 - 500MB, £7.50 - 1GB, £12.50 - 3GB

"The mobile network run by you" sounds... odd.

Are we really expecting this to be SIM unlocked? If so I might be able to get a deal on a second SIM with Three.

Really? On AT&T? Be careful if you're grandfathered in and are doing it through a jailbroken phone.

Preordered from GAME
Got the GAME deal which is the wifi vita, uncharted, 4GB memory and Preorder pack of earphones, £5 pounds off a download, and the frobisher says thing. BTW, what IS the frobisher says thing? Is it a free game or just a demo or what?
Cost me £254 after using some of my online credit, and I am going to use some of my instore credit on launch day to get Unit 13 for free.
Also found out that my local GAME store in Bury St Edmunds got a demo pod in yesterday, so I will be going over there sometime soon just to make sure I will be happy with my preorder.

But seriously, what is the frobisher dealio?

At that point, I was on a different vendors site.
So unless things change at amazon, its a no for the pre order pack. Someone should tell Sony!
