That was a pretty good premiere. I'm really hoping this an Alcatraz turn out to be something special. Two shows I think caught my attention the most for this year.

Caught the tail end of it, was a lot less cheesy than it could've been. Since it's moving to mondays, I'll probably be able to catch it from here

Still buzzing from the whole Fireman/Phone Conversation/Train/Bus thing.

Here's a fireman with a destroyed soul over what he thinks happened on 9/11 and with the Mom character, after winning the lottery playing the numbers to coincided with, more or less, the spot of where that took place, about to board a bus, only to get destracted and delayed by the husband of that woman (while leaving him a voice message telling him about what really happened), in doing so, saved a bunch of kids on a bus, possibly helping said fireman's soul recover.

To me, it reminds me of those "connection" moments from Lost. When you see how the various characters lives intertwined for years, unknowingly. This show is those moments souped up on steroids.

I liked it.

I loved how he brought back the 'multiple random plot points coming into one' dynamic that made Heroes so awesome.

However, I am not sure if it could go anywhere since it seems to be a Mystery of the Week-type of show, instead of an ongoing narrative.

That's exactly what i thought it was at first. Seems like it would be a really good 2 hour movie.

Crash?

I thought the THERE'S A SECRET MEANING TO EVERYTHING fad in tv shows was over.

Nah, there's a very high demand. It's just that it's so hard to find one that gets it right.

Good show. The whole fam liked it. Kiefer needs to pull back on the Jack though. Dat temper.

Why would they bring it back on 3/19? Did they not watch the pilot? Dumbasses.

Duuuudee, this episode took place on "3/18" and ends at night of that day.

We're going REAL TIME REAL TIME.

Sutherland here was almost his Season 1 Jack Bauer. A scared guy looking for his child.

If you watched it with Close Captions, it was using an earlier script that assumed it was using a different premiere date, so it said different numbers for how many days have passed since he was born, how many people there were on the planet, etc. I liked that they kept it up to date, it shows they care about the numbers.

Enjoyed the show. The first half hour was a little shaky for me but the end got me. That hug, everything.

Looking forward to seeing how they can make a series out of it. I'm curious how the ratings for it will do too.

That was a great pilot.

Who knows if it'll work as a series week to week, but I'll definitely keep watching to see if it does.

Enjoyed it as well. Don't like how we have to wait until march though. What was the whole point of that?

This was technically just a preview episode to give it some exposure after American Idol. I can't wait until this replaces the terrible Alcatraz on Mondays.

I really wasn't expecting much from the premise and I was skeptical Keifer could turn off Jack Bauer mode, but that was actually really well-executed. I'll be curious to see if they can come up with similarly interesting webs of disparate characters each week, seems like a pretty difficult thing to do for an episodic show.

Glad people liked it.

It's quite possible that Alcatraz will make it to a second season. Let's see what happens. I imagine that Fox really wants to get a least two new dramas on the board. The Finder won't be one of them and Terra Nova wasn't a smash hit. If House doesn't go back, it's even more likely that we'll get a Touch/Alcatraz mondays (assuming Touch does well, and it should by all metrics).

I actually home Terra Nova at least gets one more season. I'm sure it wasn't that well received here but I enjoyed it, especially the finale. Plus theres just something about the cast. Just grew a caring for them for whatever reason.

If Alcatraz keeps doing well, Terra Nova is probably done. I don't know for sure if Fox wants to keep 3 new dramas (Touch, Alcatraz, Terra Nova), but I really doubt they want Terra Nova AND Alcatraz. Plus, the ratings for Alcatraz have been OK for two weeks, Terra Nova slipped quite a bit by their end. Who knows, though.

The problem is that a decision on Terra Nova needs to be made sometime in the next few weeks. There should be a few data points on Alcatraz by then, but not a whole lot. Still, Alcatraz is far more procedural, costs a lot less, and has held up well enough.

Who knows, though.

Damn, I did a search and could not find an OT for this show. I really wanted to find this thread because I knew someone had to have made it by now.

Here are some quick thoughts:

I'm wary of this because it is Tim Kring. It already feels like a Tim Kring show. Its production reminds me strongly of Heroes already. That said, the potential for it to get out of control and lose focus is there but at the moment it is solid.

The large guest cast in the pilot was essentially what I was concerned about the most during the pilot. If he doesn't keep going back to the same characters because of Red String Theory I'll be pleased.

Kiefer is decent in the role as written. David is a new star rising to the top in Hollywood and it's very obvious why after watching the pilot. Gugu is gorgeous and talented and amazing as well. Danny Glover rounds it out as a solid cast. I'm very pleased with the casting choices that have been made.

Martin and his downward slide professionally as a single parent most likely raising a child with an ASD is portrayed incredibly realistically. His reactions to Jake and Clea are written perfectly in my opinion. The harried and constantly on edge behavior is very honest and real. Clea meanwhile came across as cold and distant until she actually became involved with her case as is much the case with social workers from my anecdotal experience. Meanwhile David, wow great performance!

A nonverbal, physical stimulation avoidant, low functioning numbers savant with a drive to save and help others. David's voice over that sets up and frames and guides the pilot is welcome as well. The moment he began to talk and explain his motives I felt this would be a wonderful pilot. The whole product felt epic and magnificent and I can't help but wonder if this would have made a fantastic movie instead of a television show. That's some serious Tim Kring right there. His work borders on cinema quality but there is a downside to that as I've previously mentioned, sometimes it has no where else to go and gets dragged out. I really do hope this show does well and I think I'll continue to tune in for it to see where it goes.

Yeah, I know that. I just meant that I'm looking forward to the regular run of Touch starting since I currently have nothing to watch on Mondays but Intervention (and yes, I already have a season pass set for Smash). Assuming Alcatraz doesn't drop much further it should easily get a second season.

How many episodes is Touch getting? 13? I'd love to see this and Alcatraz come back for 2nd seasons. Terra Nova was absolutely putrid. I couldn't take it anymore after the 3rd episode.

13. If Touch holds up on Mondays (and I believe it will, it was well received by audiences), Touch and Alcatraz will probably both get second seasons.

Ratings: 3.9 adults 18-49 rating and 11.9 million viewers

I told myself I wasn't going to watch it since I didn't want to get involved in a new show quite yet, but I'm glad I did.

So, I did not watch but I loved 24. I know this is different, but is it worth watching for my fix?
I think so... there's a bit of action going on, and it looks like there will be some more going forward.

Awesome news. From that article it says that it had the best retention from American Idol ever as well at 61%. Plus it debuted higher than both Terra Nova and Alcatraz. For those that couldn't see it, Fox put it up on their website http://www.fox.com/touch/full-episodes/7416335/pilot/ Hope it retains that audience in March. Also, with 13 episodes the quality of the show should stay much stronger. That eliminates the need for alot of filler that shows that go 22 or 23 episodes usually have to do.

But it's only 13 because it's midseason.

The half-hours were very good as well - 4.1 and a 3.7. That's solid.

Wanted to see this just on the little blurb that was posted in the midseason TV show thread. I missed the ep on tv as it fell off my radar and GAF didn't remind me in time but just saw the first episode thanks to the link in this thread. AMAZING SHOW. Wow. Just wow. I expect double the viewers for episode 2. Word of mouth will be strong with this one...just amazing.

If they can avoid the problem of too many plotlines (or characters) and just focus on the boy, his father, the social worker and the Danny Glover's character with a guest stars each episode (limited amount, the pilot had hero-itis a bit--Fringe level of guest stars would be perfect), then I think it could turn out all right. I love the premise of the show and the pilot was very good.

My favorite moment had to be when the father saw his deceased daughter on the marquee's in Tokyo.
