The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

Like others, I want to get the Vita early but don't want Little Deviants or the 4 gig card. If I do get it I may ebay both as a bundle for $40.

just got an email from SCEE saying that all GAME stores in the UK will have demo Vitas available from today. So all UK Gaffers should get out over the weekend and have a play.

I'll be going down tomorrow. I hope they mean actual demo units, not just one that the manager keeps in his office (although I'll still ask.)

I'm considering buying Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection now that it is at a discount to play it on the VITA. It will look decently, right?
It'll supposedly look better on the Vita than on the PSP.

It's lovely on the PSP, and I can't see the sprite art wouldn't upscale beautifully on the Vita screen... I bet it will look spectacular.

Has nothing todo with that, the demographic that watches college basketball and ESPN is what the PS Vita is targeting...

Of course it is... which is why there should be NBA2K and NFL2K games in the launch window (to go with MLB)...

...but what I really want is an NHL2K game... :(

Let's be real, Vita's probably never getting an NHL game no matter how easy it is to port.

Get off my lawn! *shakesfist

It's a manager unit per store from today supposedly, and then the 150 biggest stores are getting demo pods over the next weeks.

hi all,

Can I use the Near function properly on the WIFI version?

PS. so dumb that Canadian 3G model is not coming any time soon...

Yes, but it won't be as accurate. You have to use Skyhook Wireless's free service.

What's wrong? How do these passes actually work, I've never bought a game with them. Are they region locked?

You have to activate the online pass on the region PSN account. If you bought WipEout in Japan and wanted to use it you have to use a Japanese PSN ID.

How about someone from mainland Europe buying an UK copy of a game? I really hope it isn't like the PSN cards (which are locked by country).

This feels like a swipe at the first edition people. I know you'd be getting it a week early, and get a case & Little Deviants, but halving the card size for the standard bundle, in addition to giving them the same free game and AT&T nonsense feels like it's cheapening the value of the FE Bundle.

Now I'm debating whether or not the case & Little Deviants is worth $50 more when I could get a better card for $50 less.

Thoughts?

Yeah, they should have thrown in the 8gb card. It makes the First Edition bundle less of a value than it was.

I mean, you get 3G Vita, an 8GB card, free month 3G, and PSN game for $299. Great deal. For $50 more you get a card that's $10 cheaper than the one that comes with the regular bundle, and a 30 dollar game, and a 20 dollar (?) case. Doesn't seem like such a good deal.

Just went to my local gamestop and they had the vita on display and can I say, wow!!

They had about 10 demos on the demo unit, including UC:GA(looks fantastic except for the aliasing), Gravity(OMG DAY 0 for this), Fifa(which looks absolutely stunning), Little Deviants, Katamari and some others but honestly I can't wait for it, the hype is warranted and if those are first year titles I cannot wait for the second and third wave, the only bad thing is the aliasing in some of the games but that doesn't make the games look bad or anything and I expect those problems to be fixed in second and third wave titles.

in short I can't freaking wait.

Traded in a load of stuff at Game. Got an choice of £230 cash or £305 credit. Even though they charge a premium in-store, I've have been a fool to refuse the credit.
Looking forward to my Vita with Ridge Racer in a month time :)

Even if it could (and probably not, emulation generally seems to require about a ten fold performance increase, so the 3DS is probably unlikely), it doesn't have two screens, it wouldn't work very well.

Theoretically, even though it would be kind of dumb, if you tilt the device to portrait orientation, the screen aspect ratio would probably be able to replicate two of the more square screens of the DS, and you would have an analog stick and four buttons. Again, it would be dumb, and silly looking, but it would kind of work.

well it has enough rows (544) of pixels to fit both DS screens and even the 3DS screens right on top of one another while still being horizontal. and it is of course touch screen. might be awkward for some games but im mainly concerned with playing pokemon on this i.e. minimal touch screen use anyway.

DS screens are 256 x 192 so total of 384 rows of pixels which could easily fit on the psv screen. Im thinking of an emulator than can run 2 instances of DS at once side by side, tap to switch controls from one to the other. Basically for pokemon trading if u have no friends. also the 3DS resolution is 800 by 240 (well will basically only need 400 by 240 bc no 3d) and 320 by 240. total of 480 rows of pixels. 544 rows is still plenty to fit them one on top of the other while the psv still remains horizontal.

what the real question is: would this be able to emulate dreamcast? if so, I would buy one in an instant

most likely.

so yeah theres pretty much no question it has the power to emulate the DS after all the 3DS emulates the DS. whether or not it can emulate the 3DS is the question. and the dreamcast. and the ngage...

Is there any word on how good the launch games are? I'm slightly interested in Uncharted, but it looks a lot like the first game. How does it compare to 2 and 3?
