Halo 4 Announced (MS Conf, 2012, Start Of New Trilogy)

I really don't think seeing a new vehicle in toy form is an unrealistic expectation. I'm sorry man, but we're going to have to disagree there. I do not classify a 'big announcement' as 'Ghosts confirmed for Halo 4'.

The whole toy debacle was unfortunate. Hope the hype train leaves the platform sooner rather than later so we can put it behind us.

I'll just play some Reach multiplayer until I get some H4 news.

But this lack of anything really is getting a bit...unusual.

Its relative.

A big halo announcement could of been anything.

A big announcement in the world of halo toys has a lot less scope for wow factor, as someone who follows halo toys it was a big announcement. We got confirmation that a new line of Halo stuff was being developed by a completely new company and we even got pictures about what to expect, the toy world is shrouded in secrecy this was most certainly big news.

Seeing a new vehicle in toy form is pretty much an unrealistic expectation, the only thing we have ever got that would be similar is the redesign of the scarab from halo 2 to 3 being shown first via toys but for them to annouce a completely new vehicle has huge repercussions.

A new vehicle would more likely that not have to be something other than UNSC. Since the UNSC vehicles are already known.

Now lets for arguments sake say the new vehicle was forerunner chopper. That dosnt only confirm a new vehicles it imply's we would get forerunner tech which imply's forerunner enemies which gives us some idea about the Reclaimer trilogy story arc something which is obviously very tight underwraps.

'eh, considering the announcement was in 'vehicle designs' and not toys, I saw it in a different light. Also yeah there are a lot of things that'll lead on from a 'Forerunner chopper' but then again, that's what I'd consider a 'big announcement'.

Oh well, maybe next time.

The fanbase gnawing on the bones of what little information we have has turned us delirious. People were upset there weren't any reveals from a Toy Fair. Rock bottom.

very very disappointed, same vehicles and covenant? same shit for the last 11 years. You can still be Halo without these things.

no news would have been better tbh. I wasn't expecting a big reveal, but on the same front I absolutely didnt want the same enemies and vehicles again, even if their involvement is minimal

Was hoping they might do away with most conventions and start with a clean slate. I hope these signs don't point to them playing it safe.

If MC is lost in space that's far away from any previous Elite contact, say on some mysterious Forerunner planet, their tech would not be there. Oh, wait.

I agree with this.

Given what appears to be the initial setting of the game, it would be a great time to not include any or all previous Covenant races, weapons, or vehicles if that's what 343 wanted to do. (And was kind of hoping they would do)

I think the excuse they'd use is Cortana's beacon that's sent from the FUD just before Chief goes to cryo-sleep. Since 343i has stated that it's "quite some time" from the end of Halo 3 to the beginning of Halo 4, it's safe to assume the UNSC located the beacon during the downtime.

tl;dr - I want the BR back.

pretty much this, the exact reason this whole thing is disappointed. This one unveil goes against everything it appeared 343i was going for until this point. Does it mean that the covenant is the main enemy? no. Honestly we don't know eough to pass judgement, but I was hoping for minimal covenant/unsc involvement

I smell a team-up. Humanity needs all the help they can get if they have to go up against
Didact and his Prometheans
.

History of severe anger problems and the final terminal pretty much flat out says it. Doubt he will be the enemy through the entire series though.

nope they eventually pull the "unlikely allies" card when the
Precursor shows up and Halo 5 ends with Didact dying for emotional value but when he dies he gives Chief his special arm cannon so he can go on and beat Sigma.

wait

Halo Anniversary final terminal?
"They (humans) might prefer the Flood" (talking about Didact and Prometheans being pissed over events of Halo CE)

am i misinterpreting

I understand, but not a single thing in Cryptum has led to
The Didact and Prometheans
being the big bads. I took in quite the opposite from his character in Cryptum.

Now if we're talking about
the Precursor at the very end of Cryptum
then yeah, I can see HIM being the big bad.

To be fair, though, I haven't read Primordium because I want to finish Glasslands first and Glasslands just reads like a high school drama so it's tough to get through. Maybe Primordium had some revelations regarding those two characters that could prove my viewpoint false.

My insane predictions for the Reclaimer trilogy, ripe with cliches

Halo 4 - Chief vs. Didact. Hints of Precursor.

Halo 5 - Precursor shows up, Chief and Didact join forces to fight him. Didact dies at the end of Halo 5 because second parts of trilogies have to be dark like that. Didact as he dies "I suppose you humans aren't so bad after all". Chief sheds a single manly tear.

Halo 6 - Precursor threat escalates, Chief takes him down for Didact. They're space bros. The end. Now we begin the wait for Halo 7.

Isn't Covenant tech based upon the Forerunner artifacts? Maybe I'm missing something.

Not that I wouldn't mind seeing all new enemies and vehicles to play with. That seems like a whole lot of Halo to discard though.

Based on what we know about the setting and the concept art trailer, my dream scenario for Halo 4 has been Chief lands on this planet/thing, and the game consists (are at least most of it) on this planet with no or very limited contact with unsc or covenant. Think Metroid Prime for the atmosphere of the game.

Of course, some things are just too good to be true.

An ex-Retro guy is a lead designer so some Metroid Prime elements aren't too farfetched.

I wouldn't mind seeing Metroid Prime influences penetrate every aspect of Halo 4 but I'll take what I can get.

Forward Unto Dawn will be floating overhead. It'll randomly drop weapons from previous games and 'classified' ones.

Also it will drop marines trapped in cyro tubes.

Yeah that was one of the basis for my hope for that.

Well that just sounds fucking silly lol.

Sadly, probably something like that will happen.

Then the Spirit of Fire will show up and drop off more marines and spartans! Then you'll get a level where Chief pilots a Cyclops through a Forerunner defense structure.

edit: damnit Xtortionist

Tons of them were on board, but they got damaged and now the faster you shoot the more inaccurate your shot is. I think that would be FANTASTIC for gameplay and everyone would love it.

So all the BRs on the ship were damaged in the same way which caused them to malfunction in the same manner?
Yeah..

Reach's sales were disappointing if you wanted it to defeat CoD. Otherwise it sold about as much as Halo 3 did.

No one is disputing that Halo has fallen off as the top seller which sends other games running. Even the fanbase itself is rather splintered. Halo is a shadow of its former self saleswise and in the minds of many gamers. But if last November was any indication, publishers didn't feel the need to run from MW3.

The only reason H4 won't step on CoD's toes come November is because MS won't want to pit the two against one another. It's in their best interest to stagger the releases. It's not an either/or competition between Halo and CoD.

Merely thinking that Halo 4 would achieve better success presuming that it was released in September, as opposed to in November.

Yup, same. I was hoping the new Halo trilogy didn't even get remotely close to the Covenant, not only that but I was hoping we wouldn't even see other humans in the games.

I dunno man. Bobs didn't make that clear in his post.

Im sure we have been through this Gui, basically Cortana damaged them all. She was trolling. Chief saw how those damn Spartan 3's had to deal with the likes of bloom and was having nightmares in his Cryo chamber. Rampant Cortana decided to troll by sabotaging all the weapons on the Spirit of Fire so that they have bloom.

Halo 4 is going to be amazing.

I also hear Cortana will take over the screen to pull a trollface every time you get screwed over by bloom in H4, Gravemind style.

Ship it!

Which one was Jerome? The one with the skull on his visor?

Also 343i for the love of god, more of this in Halo 4.
