A quick question to those that have ordered MGS HD: Limited Edition:-

Is the art book a hardback? And if so, what is the build quality and binding like? Might just grab the book on eBay if so, and then pick up the game at a later date.

Shame you can't use those 10% zavvi email discount codes on pre-orders.

Obrigado!

Man, that sucks. I wanted to have it on day 1... I suppose I could order it from some foreign Amazon... is Amazon.fr the one with the best deal atm?

Be careful with the warranty. If you buy it here you have a 2 year warranty but if you buy it in the UK you only have a 1 year warranty. And if you have any problem you can deal with the problem here (unfortunately with Stockuno...) instead of shipping the Vita back to UK.

I'm tempted by the Amazon UK deal but I don't know if it's worth the risk. Deals for the Vita in Portugal are awful in comparison.

Yep, the art book is hardback and the binding quality feels very professional. Admittedly, I have only had like 10 very quick minutes to inspect it since it arrived on Monday mind you. But I did think at the time that the book was very high quality.

Has anyone seen any cheap pre-orders for Syndicate on the 360 kicking about? Cheapest I can see it is £37.99 on Amazon at the moment.

...but it seems like a dead-cert for a quick drop.

You know, I've been saying that to a few friends recently.

Part of me wants it Day 1 to support the Syndicate license blah, blah, blah, but the other part of me is saying 'Don't be a fool! Wait for the inevitable £17.99-£24.99 price point' Still, I have a £15 gift card for ASDA from a returned xmas present. Might just wait till night of release and pick it up with the card meaning I get it day 1 and pay a reduced price...

Also, really gutted with the shitty Game 'exclusive' edition. Was hoping for a Soundtrack CD, considering how much they have been touting the soundtrack collaborations with all these well known DJ's. or some either decent Syndicate swag.

My Zavvi exclusive Metal Gear Solid HD collection Limited Edition just arrived :)
Delivered by Royal Mail, well packaged and in perfect condition.
It's a big box

Yes but bear in mind that the UK is [still] in the EU so consumers are protected by the EU legislation that says that products should last a reasonable length of time. For example, if a product dies one day out of warranty, that does not absolve the manufacturer of liability as it is not reasonable to buy something and for it to fail so quickly.

Nintendo will repair/replace hardware in one's country of residence even if it originates from another EU country. Will Sony not do this too?

Finally decided to cave in and order a Vita. Largely because I'm weak and spineless, and learnt nothing from the 3DS launch, but also because Amazon's Vita + 8GB card for £219 is such a sweet deal, and removes one of my major gripes and stumbling blocks with the Vita's pricing.

Where's the cheapest place to pick up games at this point? I saw a place called Coolshop linked on here a week or two back, who have Wipeout 2048 and a few other games at £27.99 with free shipping. Seems an OK deal to me. Are they safe? Reliable? Anyone any experience with their shipping times etc?

It would be great if you could us know if its a £25 off anything voucher, or is it a voucher booklet, which I dont really want.

So to follow up, there wasn't really much more information of interest than the sheet shows.

It is just normal Morrisons vouchers, so it can be used for anything (except the Vita purchase) and I don't think the lottery. Other than that it can be used for anything in store or even petrol.

Key dates are that pre-orders start on Monday. Last date to put in an order is the 15th. Vita's get delivered on the 18th then on sale the 22nd. The stores are strict with the release date, but I would imaging other stores will also start to get their orders around that date, so that would be the time to start checking small independent places if you want to try get one early.

Ordering instore requires a £10 deposit. Not needed if you do it online.

Order will be held until the end of the week (Sun) after that stores can sell them on to anyone.

The pre-order pack is the same as other stores with the headphones and discount vouchers for PSN.

Damn, sometimes ShopTo are too good...

I order something and 2 minutes later I get a dispatch e-mail with a picture of my package. Amazing.

Never had an issue with them - all my preorders come a day early and even when I order bang on 17:30 I'll get an email telling me it's dispatched.

Actually made the mistake of ordering to my term time uni address once, tried to quickly cancel but it had dispatched by the time I did

Rayman Origins (360) - £13.50 @ Amazon Warehouse

A bit cheaper than usual, as Amazon Warehouse are selling it as "used". Amazon Warehouse products are usually normal retail items from Amazon that got a bit tattered when it stock - although they never have any big physical damage to the game/case. Stuff like a small tear in the wrapping paper, or the seal looking a bit tore is usually the extent of what is wrong with them.

That Rayman copy is probably used. Ever since Amazon started the trade-in scheme used games go into there [warehouse deals] too. You can tell as the description says:
Includes manual, cover art, and case. Full game is included, but bonus downloadable content may have already been redeemed. Cleaning and repair was done as required. Game data from previous use may be present, but can be overwritten or deleted. All purchases eligible for Amazon customer service and a 30-day return policy
They're good condition, come resealed in horrible plastic and have a sticker over the barcode area with their barcode which is hard to get off without making a mess. When the prices used to be more volatile you could grab some insane bargains.

A damaged (or product returned) copy description is along the lines of:
Missing shrink-wrap. Large hole in upper spine. Appears to have been read. All purchases eligible for Amazon customer service and a 30-day return policy
Sometimes you can really luck out and get a sealed return like I did for NSMB DS. The only fault was the cartridge was loose (which may have been caused by transit to me).

grrrrr now i have to decide between this:

ps vita for 199 Euros

or

ps vita + memory card + preorder pack (aka. shit i don't need) + 15 euro off a game i don't want for 245 Euros

Where are you getting that price? Edit: whoops, just saw it above.

What are the chances of the Rayman Origins and Lumines misprices on Amazon being honored? Anyone have orders like these actually go through?

No one knows till it's time for those games to ship. (Generally speaking Amazon simply cancels pricing mistakes though. Chances are slim that we'll all get lucky.

I just pre-ordered One Piece SP. I know it's only part 1 but I REALLY want to play the first part and prices are like £99 used for the Wii. I also got scared it'll soar in price again. I'll probably replay part 2 straight after but it's a shame i can't carry stuff over.

So tempted by Vita+8GB deal for £220, but what are the chances of Vita dropping price after 6 months. I don't want to buy Vita+8GB for £220 then suddenly 6 months after you can get a Vita+8GB for £160.

When there was the memory stick price error, my order got cancelled within a week. My Rayman order has now stayed there for four weeks now which is making me slightly hopeful.

My MGS HD Limited Edition arrived from Zavvi today.
What a great job they did with the packaging - the cardboard holding the art book obviously wasn't strong enough so it's been ripped to shreds in shipping.
Just what you want to happen to a limited edition!

Mine came in a black shipping plastic bag, no rips or dents in the box. It was pretty much perfect.

That's okay, I'm sure the Ambassador Program Sony will offer will be generous.

Damnable Tabs!

Well I went back to Asda at around half eleven, there still wasn't any stock but as I was leaving I did see a "George" Asda lorry arriving, does anyone know if those only carry clothes or if the games might've been on there too?

No idea about Asda, but for some stores in Ireland those logos are more a rolling advertisement than an indicator what is actually inside the lorry. There could be anything in there - if it works the same for Asda.

I ordered Resonance of Fate from The Hut on January 15th and its status is still "Awaiting Stock Pick" although the page says it's in stock and usually dispatched within 24 hours. Infuriating, especially since I already played through Vanquish, which I ordered at the same time.

Games are much more likely to be delivered by private courier if it's like Morrisons.
