Too bad the one thing he can't do is make a classic Zelda like Link to the Past The Legend of Zelda NES.
What is this post. Is this the new ridleyscott?

nobody wants that.
i was just talking to AceBandage, he says he changed his mind. Metroid it is!
They are not working on Donkey Kong Country Returns
They are working on Donkey Kong 64 Returns
. . .
Did you even look at the link a few posts back? They said they're not working on DKCR2
nobody wants that.

Edit: Isn't that why a few key members of the MP1 and MP2 team left to begin with?
I think they left because they wanted more freedom. They wanted their own company. It...didn't end well for them.
Nah. I'm pretty sure it's because they wanted to work on a console with more powerful architecture and felt trapped by the Wii's modest bump in power compared to the competition.

I'm sure it was a mix a both but the freedom part rings more true considering the studio's mission statement that they built afterward. Regardless it didn't end well for them.Nah. Where are you getting this from?
And, rather ironically, they haven't been able to work on any console as of yet.
What became of them?
I remember the names of lead members from the prime team ringing out to me
What became of them?
It was to do with lack of creative freedom, yes. There's even a quote floating around from one of the guys that left; something along the lines of 'Don't work for Nintendo if you like the freedom to do what you want.'
Which is stupid.
Any big company you work for will basically decide what you make, unless you're on Miyamoto's level.
So, it's either that, or make nothing...
Now they will suffer like Rare did!I'd just "put up" with the company's control until you earn the right to make a unique IP.
If that never happens and you are a true artist/creative mind, then I'd maybe look elsewhere but Nintendo is a great gig to say the least and these guys weren't very patient and took a once in a lifetime chance for granted.
Now they will suffer like Rare did!
Welcome...friends...Suffer like R did!
I'd guess that the new building is for Mario and Zelda teams, a few Nintendo-owned parties (Like Sora) and maybe a Wii U sector. Iunno.
Huh.
I'd forgotten about this. Not that it has any impact on what project Nintendo decided to put them to work on, but it seems like Retro expected to return to the series at some point.

I hope whoever designed that face is no longer with Retro.
Most of Retro's attempts at human faces have been pretty terrible.

The Tokyo building that they are constructing is to expand their Japanese teams, yes.
I dunno where the rumor that Retro is moving was from, though.
Also, THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A HUMAN? If it was a humanoid, I'd let it slide.
Moving Retro would make a *little* sense, IMO.
A) Correct me if I'm wrong, but they're Nintendo's most used "second-party" for the big titles.
B) They are wildly liked
and C) Wouldn't it just *kinda* fit in with Miyamoto's whole "assisting new employees"?

The only reason they'd need to move is if they were expanding beyond the space they have in their old building.
Which is certainly possible, but not confirmed.
They won't be moving them to Tokyo, if that's what you're implying.
Not Tokyo, but anywhere closer to Nintendo EAD would benefit them.
Retro has stated that they aren't working on a new DKCR.
Are you aware that Retro Studios is located in Austin, Texas?
Closer to Japan, is what I meant.
Closer to Japan, is what I meant.
...
Dallas?
They aren't moving the studio out of Austin. Let alone out of the country.
That would require moving dozens of families...
