Man, after riding this emotional rollercoaster for so long I could really use a break. Oh, hey, what's this? Animu Ghostbusters with schoolgirls, katanas, and lots of fanservice? Sign me the fuck up!

The whole :firehawk travesty spawned off the unholy abomination that was the :cajun coinage thingamajig, which imo should all be burnt in a pyre, but that's for another day.

How long has it even been since :lol smileys and the like were disabled? Feels like an eternity.

Is this an appropriate time to post my modification of that Ikuhara image that I made months ago?

XD I'm dying over here.
I am totally posting shitty cell phone pics of my swag in here when it comes along with whatever vast and incomprehensible sums of money HMVJ charged me btw. Maybe with dollar-per-hour comparisons to let people know that they're just that good.
Whatever you paid, it can't be worth it.

Another 4

This shit is so cray! First the umbrella accident and now elevator accident..and there's blood. Needs more graphic scenes and gore like School Days

You just haven't seen the light.

Going to gladly pay $80+ (damn you ever morphing exchange rate) for Innocence in the upcoming weeks as well. Will be worth every overvalued yen. And if I can't get any solid info on the Patlabor HK discs, I'll probably end up taking the plunge on the JP discs too and they're probably going to run me $100+ each because I want the Nice Box edition if I'm already going to be paying an assload.

And I am definitely getting the Jin-Roh reprint coming for only 3.6k yen. Or maybe I'll get the Japanese original release for $toomuch, Nice Box and all:

Box is sturdy chipboard, no flimsy cardboard shit. Same sort of Nice Box that Patlabor, GITS, and Wings of Honneamise (including the US release which I own, and is how I know HOW NICE THESE BOXES ARE) are in.

Also the wrap is resealable!!!!!!

Symphogear 05

Yuri, now with 100% more
BDSM.

Dat engrish.
Some leaps and bounds in plot too. Creeper scientist lady might be working with the 'enemy', also has powers. Assassinations by engrish speaking men.Tsubasa awakening(already!) and Hibiki training. Berzerker Hibiki is best Hibiki

kinda amusing
Anime production studio Drop has apologized that one of its contract staff Tomita Yuji had made inappropriate posts on 2channel BBS about the production status of Area no Kishi. Tomita also apologized that he had made a tremendous trouble to the staff and the companies involved. Tomita was the episode director of the fifth episode of the TV anime.

From January 16th - 18th, Tomita complained on a 2channel thread for production managers that the director Ogura Hirofumi had been making unreasonable demands to fix the background arts and the key animations. He said the production studio Ascension had gave up mediating between Ogura and the subcontractor Drop, and they forced Drop to follow Ogura's selfish orders. Tomita criticized that the storyboards of Ogura were so poorly drawn that the episode directors had been struggling to figure out what Ogura intended to describe.

In the apology statement, Drop said Tomita's remarks were false and the offensive posts by other 2channel users against Ogura were defamations. They have already reported the case to the police and been ready to file a lawsuit.

There should be a comedy anime about an anime studio with a really bad director and no one can ever figure out what his storyboards mean.

Chihayafuru: 17

I get it. I get it. Inferiority is present as a theme. I didn't exactly want to have to deal with every individual character's bouts of it, as it's redundant as all juice, but whatevs. Taichi
breaking up with his girlfriend in a flash was pretty expected, and does put him in position for that Chihaya win.
Deskomu, on the other hand, just needs a bit of p90x in his life. He'll have all dem abs, dem Karuta-God skills, and Oe in no time. I fully expect
see the Queen again, and soon;
That list of tourneys was basically an open 'Look Out!'

No, I'm being serious. The type of stuff portrayed in these types of 80s-90s manga/anime honestly repulses me. Stuff like Ninja Scroll and Berserk is unbearable for me and literally makes me feel a bit nauseous. I question anyone who enjoys it. Write them off and pass judgement? No, but I do question them. Flags raised, etc.

You guys (branduli, etc) can make fun of me for loving iM@S and K-ON because LOL CREEPYPEDO stuff, but I'd rather watch cute girls do cute things than watch a glob of ultraviolent juvenile misery complete with tons of rape/attempted rape of every female character in sight.

I don't really find any thing wrong with dumb ultraviolence and nor do I pass judgement on works the feature it or people that enjoy it - up to a point, I'm no fan of 'torture-porn'. But the whole 'lone man kills hundreds of enemies/monsters' etc is one of the oldest character types in storytelling, whether his stories are interesting or not is a different matter. Labelling them as 'juvenile' seems a bit odd considering such testosterone-fuelled stories and aimed to be enjoyed by males of all ages, and Berserk certainly has a fanbase of older Japanese businessmen.

I completely agree about all the rape/attempted scenes though, there's very little justification for them and they're spread pretty heavily throughout the manga. It's one of the reasons I believe the anime is superior to the original, because it doesn't indulge in these graphic depictions of rape.

Once again, returning to the question of 'does Berserk deserve a (looking) movie' I will still answer in the affirmative because that particular arc, The Golden Age, actually features a fairly solid (if un-original) plot and handful of characters. It has a beginning, middle and end and it tells an interesting tale without too much meandering, unlike certain arcs later on in the manga.

Mihoshi's Space Adventure

You know, despite being such an airhead Mihoshi sure does come up with some pretty wild stories. Also, I was told all old anime from back in the day was manly and classy and that it only sucks nowadays because it had gone the way of lolimoeshit in recent years but I'm pretty sure I saw at least two instances of loli nakedness in this. I guess that only goes to show that such things are timeless.

Legend of Galactic Heroes: 1

This was good, really good. Also very dry, but with a focus on the chess and actual chessmasters usually comes a dry reservation that I find to be far more befitting of the process of the thought processes the viewer alongside the scene may try to take part in; I know I was.

It'll be interesting to see how this goes. It's expansive and doesn't seem as if its a particularly character driven work, but I do dig the subtle and not so subtle effects they added in for the viewers peace of mind; Absolute uniformity in dress and architecture made keeping a mental note on the respective sides--and ultimately, multiple personalities--so much easier than it could have been.

I swear I just told someone last week to watch Overture to a New War instead of episode 1.
I've always hated Ninja Scroll for this very reason, from way back when I first became an animu fan and it was a standard recommendation for newbies. It's about one step away from Urotsukidoji & kin imo. With the puerility (TITS! VIOLENCE!) tends to come stupidity, too.

At least Urotsukidoji is thoroughly offensive piece of filth that doesn't pretend to be anything less, while also being incredibly silly and juvenile with it's extensive mythology and extended cast of characters. I can almost respect how irredeemable and misanthropic the whole thing is - very few works seem willing to accept such an world view.

There's actually been talk that Ei Aoki (Wandering Son, Fate/Zero) is really bad at detailing his storyboards, which makes it really hard for the staff to follow his direction properly, which is why in both Wandering Son and Fate/Zero, there is the dubious additional credit for "storyboard clean-up" on episodes which he storyboarded.

What does Overture to a New War cover exactly? I've already scene the first ep now, but if it covers any more past it, I'll just watch it instead.
I haven't seen LoGH but I'm pretty sure it's a retelling of the first two (maybe three?) episodes with a bunch of extra stuff added.
