I think the easiest way to think about the differences in connectivity between the 3G vita and and wifi vita would be to think of them as either an iPod touch or an iPhone
The 3G vita is like an iPhone (without calling capabilities of course) in its connectivity options
The wifi vita is like an iPod touch in its connectivity options
If you have a 3g vita, unless you also have a data plan, i can't imagine you being able to use any connectivity feature if you're not connected to a wifi signal.
I just mean for GPS usage.
I can still use the GPS in my phone even without service.
So for things unlike Near (which needs data) is what I'm wondering.

If you don't care about some of the fluff in the first edition bundle, you can always just opt to get the 3G launch bundle for $300, and use that $50 saved to buy a game.

I had the wifi version preordered and just switched to 3G (even though I won't be using the service) just because it came with a memory card. Why exactly did they have to come up with a totally new type of memory card?

Ok guys I want your opinion, I have a 3ds that I rarely play aside from Mario Kart and only want Dream Drop Distance for in the future, which who knows when that is coming out... Anywho I have been looking at the first edition bundle and need to know is it only coming with a 4gb card or 8gb? Another question is should I trade in my 3ds to upgrade to the first edition bundle due to the fact that the vita alone has 5 games on release that I want to play. (I already have a wifi vita and 8gb paid off at g-stop btw). I have an iphone 4 for 3g needs, but the gps actually sounds handy if it is good (iphone blows), does anybody know first hand how good the gps is?
Also I am taking into account that nintendo will release another 3ds that is better in the future and will most likely have the dual sticks built in.

I have a ton of DD PSP games, but I am still only getting the 8GB memory stick. I don't see swapping games on the memory card being an issue as I usually only play a handful of games at a time. I'm sure I'll be able to hold out until either the memory prices come down or they announce a 64GB stick for the same price as the current 32GB stick.

I think Sony have always known how to make attractive and powerful hardware. Their problem has ALWAYS been that their attitude was "This is what you want, because we told you you want it" rather than "hmm, what do people want from this device? Excellent, lets put that in".
The Vita, at Kaz's instruction , is probably the first device Sony have made in years or possibly ever where the engineers and designers who made it were not the only people with an input into its creation. Tat they actually asked the people that make the games and play the games were asked and listened to is massive for Sony.
Consider them requested.

I tried this at Best Buy today. Weird because the guy has it around his neck. He was trying to show me it by playing a minigame on Little Deviants. He didn't understand how to pinch it though to fling the guy. Had to show him how it was done Anyway, I really love the hardware. Felt great. Mini-games were fun if not something I really need. Wish they had Uncharted to try, but they only had Little Deviants. Gamestop seemed to only have it in a plastic display case. Or do you have to ask them to play it?

I've asked, and at two different ones it's simply locked in there to not be played.
And man, kinda disappointing SONY is also in on the "dump manuals" thing, though they seem to have the best alternative at least. Still, once all three manufacturers are in on "manuals can be disposed of" for their games it's definitely going to extend, directly or indirectly, to all third parties whether they want to make nice manuals or not.

Only issue I have is do you have to remove the rear-touch panel to actually use the Vitas touch panel?
Combine that armour with one of those full face Hori Protectors and you probably wouldn't need a case when it's in your [Man]bag/ruck sack.

OMG it's the old FIFA/PES slowdown where it just slows down anytime something important is happening.

Not sure if I'd trust Destructoid's opinion on anything related Vita given the ran a BS story about DD versions of games requiring a separate online pass purchase, and never ran a new story showing their goof.

What's the word on Uncharted: Golden Abyss? Kinda thinking about picking it up but I'm sorta worried about the quality and length of the game. Is it pretty close to par with the console games?
im buying DD game on vita that i know ill never trade in. Like Lumines and Wipeout.

I went the PlayAsia route.
Not sure if it'll get here in time for First Editions but their shipping guidelines seem to indicate there's a pretty good chance of that.
