PS Vita US Launch Details (Launch Games, Accessory Pricing)

I went the PlayAsia route.
Not sure if it'll get here in time for First Editions but their shipping guidelines seem to indicate there's a pretty good chance of that.

It's like double the price though. And I don't want to end up getting matte if I choose the wrong one.

not sure what achievement syncing has to do with this but iOS has installs, very brief but the app still has to install after downloading

Yes, but why even tell me you are installing and prevent me from doing anything else? Me touching download should be the start and end of the entire process. iOS shows a icon immediately and a bar fills up. Installs seem better on Vita than the trophy syncing because at least the install doesn't require a button press like on PSP and PS3.

What's the word on Uncharted: Golden Abyss? Kinda thinking about picking it up but I'm sorta worried about the quality and length of the game. Is it pretty close to par with the console games?

I played Uncharted yesterday and the graphics are great. It seems like the same game. The only issue I had was with the controls, the second stick isn't brilliant for aiming. I had trouble at first but it seems like it could be a case of just needing to get acquainted.

last time i ordered something from there, it took 3 weeks to get here :(
Yeah, that's probably what it would take with standard shipping. I ponied up extra. Worth it to have a chance to have the Hori protector for launch.

It would be difficult to get confused. They make the distinction between the matte (blue) and glossy (red) filters clear with color-coded packaging. Based on their state inventory, the matte will ship out immediately whereas the wait for glossy could take anywhere from 5-15 days for it to restock.

You can read a lot of gaf impressions and some of the reviews here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=455711

From what I've read I think the short answer is yes...it seems to be similar length to the other games. Its sounds like its tone is more similar to the first Uncharted than 2 and 3 - less huge set pieces, more exploration and slightly slower pace. Only recurring complaint I've seen revolves around getting used to the aiming, which supposedly requires you to use the gyro-aiming for accurate shooting...although I've seen more than one comment that the system is actually preferable once you get used to it.

5-15 days means I may as well just wait for Amazon then. I wish other places sold them.

I'm about 5 or 6 hours into Uncharted and I can say that the aiming does take a little bit of getting used to. Probably because this is the first shooter I'm playing on the Vita. Once you get acquainted with the gyro assist, though, it's headshots left, right, and centre. With that said, you don't need to use it at all to be accurate. I only started using it about 3 hours in.

Word is 10+ hours on single player campaign. Quality looks to be up to par with the consoles from what little I played. Some say they have difficulty aiming, I haven't tried the aiming yet. no online multiplayer. It costs $50 now.

Longer than the console games, plus has TONS of collectables. makes the completionist in me excited.

Cutest little boxes in all the land.

Wow, those boxes are tiny. I guess they look huge because the cards are also tiny.

I like them though.

I dig the cases. The less room they take up the better.

Actually, in this regard, I think they could have been made even smaller. The carts are so small and instruction manuals aren't really included anymore, so why waste the plastic on the cases?

For as terrible as the N-Gage platform was, I've always liked their game cases:

For those who have seen the accessories at Gamestop already out, are they also selling the memory cards? I remember the 8-4 podcast was talking about 32GB shortages at release and was wondering if I may be able to pick one up early.

Sorry if it's already been answered - thread moves pretty fast and didn't see it on this page at least.

I bought a 8gb card and cradle today. They didnt have the 32gb yet.

Is the Vita version of Rayman Origins actually the same as the console versions? Nothing has been taken out? I've been holding off on playing to wait for the PC version but the digital version will have DRM so I'm looking at the Vita version now.

Co-op's gone, but I don't believe any stages or whatever are.

Thanks for the feedback on Uncharted guys. I had a 15% off coupon to Futureshop so I went and pre-ordered it. So now I have Wipeout and Uncharted to look forward too in just a couple weeks!

why hasnt sony made a deal to able to have the same title in different platforms for an affordable price?
Which games are you thinking about? They already have i.e Motorstorm RC where you get both the PS3 and Vita version for the price of one. I think there is some deal with Ruin (Warrior's Lair) as well, but maybe that was just a rumor.

You should preorder the 32Gb card if you're worried. That's what I did.

OMG it's the old FIFA/PES slowdown where it just slows down anytime something important is happening.

I'm sure EA will patch it though...hahahaha

I would hope that slowdown is just an option you can turn on and off. Watching that video it sure did seem like it was in easy-mode.

For those worrying about Fifa, this 3 minute video looks spot on to me. I know it's only one but I'm sure the game will be fine. Plus it looks great.

http://youtu.be/bKrDuLsD1FA?hd=1

EDIT: I don't know if this is the same video as you are already looking at but it looked the same. The first slow down looks like it occurs at about 2 minutes in. I don't know if it's just me, but watch the thumb on the left of the screen. I think it also suffers from slow down. It also looks the same every other time there is slow down. maybe its just me seeing something that isn't there but I've seen loads of videos of Fifa looking perfect.

I'm fairly comfortable that it's a camera/video thing and not a Fifa thing. But someone else with a keen eye please look for me.

Do we know if PS Vita games will be physically or digitally available on the 15th of February? Would really like to get me some more games to play on my JPN PS Vita -_-. Already tried searching on the web and no information regarding this. The SCEA PSN store seems to have been updated a little with new pictures and what not, perhaps they are already prepping it.

well just about every game that are/will be available for different platforms like umvsc3, sfxt, rayman etc. Sure some are third party titles but having that will make sony's consoles more attractive

some will be available for DD on the 15th, but not all launch titles.

Does anyone know where the vita is manufactured?

China. Even the first Japan models were made in China. People in Japan want paying just as much as people in America or Western Europe to make stuff. While it almost always results in incredible build quality, it also results in higher prices. Consumers on the whole want low price and don't really care if it means the item is made in China.

Some of them will be at retail and on the PSN on the 15th. I think I read that some of the PSN stuff will be up on the 14th so you can pre load. The rest will be out on the 22nd.

I like that PS1 classics are playable through remote play. That should serve until they get the system up in place on the Vita proper.

I'm on the fence about Shinobido 2 and Ultimate MvC3. I can get UMvC3 from the company store for $30, it's just a matter of deciding on if I want it asap or not. I should be kept busy with Uncharted, Rayman, and Super Stardust, not to mention my PSP games, so I suppose I could hold off a bit longer.

I love Tenchu, but I'm worried that Shinobido might end up on sale a few weeks after launch. I'm not sure if it's worth $40 day one.

I'm bummed I won't get my Hori screen protector on day one. I wasn't too sure on even needing a screen protector, but after watching RedSun Gamer's live stream, and seeing how badly the screen gets fingerprints on it, I've decided it'd be nice to have one just in case. But there's no way I can refrain from using my Vita on day one while I wait for the Hori protector to arrive.

Any word on if Ragnarok Odyssey is hitting stateside? That game looks really awesome. I really hope a lot of those great looking JRPGs make it over here. It'd also be nice if Square-Enix were to put up Kingdom Hearts and Crisis Core on the PSN. Unless they're making special "Vita Editions" of the game with right analog stick support and graphical tweaks, in which case, yes please.

Has anybody that already has a Vita tried mapping the second stick to the controls on a PSP game, does it work well? Part of my reason for getting it is to have dual sticks for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. I have it on my PSP but always get too frustrated by the controls to properly play it.

bought it on here.

Here's the case next to a 3DS and Uncharted 3 case

I really like it I had the Logitech one so I'm pleased to see someone took that idea for Vita

I have been looking at this case myself, can you please tell me if:

a) When the Vita is in the case does the top shut easily without pushing down on the Vita analogue sticks? The cut-outs in the top don't look deep enough to me.

b) When games are stored in the bottom section are they pressed down into the case a fair way, or does the bottom of the vita actually come into contact with them when stored?

Thanks

I posted this earlier. This video is right up your alley.
