Dear Customers,

We just wrapped up another deal — this time bringing in content from MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, TV Land, and VH1 — to add 2,000 new titles to Prime Instant Video. Together with the existing movies and shows from CBS, Fox, Disney-ABC, PBS, NBC, Sony, and Warner Bros., we now offer, at no additional cost, unlimited instant streaming of more than 15,000 titles.

We’re adding something for the family with Nickelodeon favorites like Avatar: The Last Airbender, Dora the Explorer, iCarly, and Yo Gabba Gabba. We’re adding comedy with titles like Chappelle’s Show, The Sarah Silverman Program, Strangers with Candy, and Hot in Cleveland. And we’re adding reality TV with several past seasons of The Real World, Basketball Wives, and Jersey Shore.

With free two-day shipping on millions of items, free access to books in the Kindle Owners Lending Library, and instant streaming of thousands of Prime Instant Videos, Prime is an outstanding value and remains only $79 a year.

Watch Prime Instant Videos on your Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, or Roku and select TVs, set-top boxes, and blu-ray players.

Millions have already joined Amazon Prime...

P.S. You can also rent or buy more than 100,000 new release movies and day-after-broadcast TV shows instantly at our Amazon Instant Video Store, no Prime membership required.

Will probably get the half off prime account once my student prime expires this month.

I love my amazon prime subscription. I got it before they had movies and tv shows for free and it was a good deal even then, it's a steal now.

Do they actually have apps out for their service, or do you have to do everything through the browser?

Doesn't Netflix already have all of these?

hey amazon, how bout you let me use your video service on an ipad, iphone, or apple tv? or PS3

Amazon Prime is becoming an embarrassment of riches at this point!

I would be satisfied with the two day shipping by itself

Amazon's service is still limited by the number of devices you can utilize it through.

But more competition is always good.

It's awesome, and I've been an Amazon Prime customer for years, but I don't get much use out of the instant streaming services, and here's why:

Watch Prime Instant Videos on your Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, or Roku and select TVs, set-top boxes, and blu-ray players.

That needs to say 360, PS3, Wii or iOs device. All there is to it.

AppleTV would actually get me to take a look at it. If Hulu was offered on AppleTV or even streamable through the iPad and AirPlay'd to the AppleTV I'd be happy.

Not holding my breath, though.

They really need to get an app on PS3 and 360.

This, get it to me on my consoles and my phone and I might switch.

I welcome any competition to Netflix. I want my service with them to be better, and this may help push them to do what they need to. I'm starting to wonder if they have the finances to weather this long-term.

I doubt apple wants to draw attention away from their own video store, an amazon doesn't want to take features away from their own tablet =\

yea cause netflix app isnt available on iphone, ipad, or apple tv....

What if you don't have netflix?

Well, that post was more a commentary on the thread title, because it's not like Amazon is really offering anything more than Netflix already is (and is allowing to be streamed on consoles, Apple products, etc.).

Point being is that this will ultimately be cheaper than Netflix by about $30 a year + all the benefits of having a Prime account.

Right, but it's not streamable anywhere else than online and on Amazon's tablets, which is essentially the whole reason why I use Netflix in the first place.

If people are complaining about Netflix's selection, why are they parroting this as a huge win for Amazon when it's just a bunch of shit Netflix already has?

Until they're on consoles it's more like "You're almost in check."

I think it's more like, you're far from being in "check." The shocking statistic a while back was that most people consume Netflix through a Wii of all places. Guess it's because so many people have them. Not even an HD signal. I do use one in my bedroom but for living room it's mainly PS3.

Well, if they match Netflix in selection and accessibility, they win, because Prime is cheaper and also gets you all the free shipping stuff.

Uhhh VH1 and MTV? That doesn't sound good to me

Comedey Central, TV Land, and Nickelodeon? I'm okay with that.

You can stream Amazon and Netflix and a bunch of other channels with a $50 Roku. Problems solved.

leaning tower of connected devices in my entertainment center. no thank you. I'm not going to pay $50 because Amazon is stupid

Question: is there a Roku (or similar device) that also lets you tune in digital OTA channels? Because if so, that's probably the "drop cable" tipping point for me.

Uhm, if you combine NetFlix and Hulu Plus on your console, isn't this what you get anyway?

I have both and NEVER check Amazon's selection.

Ditto. I brought up the store on my Kindle Fire when I was testing yesterday and I still didn't find anything I wanted to watch so I figured I'd check back in another 90 days.
