The Law of Ueki 9

H7f1d.jpg

This stock animation has shown up several times now when Ueki turns trash into trees, and I don't understand what it's intending to signify. That his power comes from a heart tumor radiating out to his entire body?

0men6.jpg

The blur filter this show likes to use to attempt to make the action look exciting is lazy.

This new Robert's 10 organization is rather unfair. All the students are supposed to be fighting against each other one-on-one; a single candidate shouldn't be able to control multiple power users.

There's lots more I could write about, but I've got 51 episodes of this nonsense to plow through.

You may be a lurking newbie, but with a like-list like that and love for Gintama, you have a bro in me. You'd probably dig Steins: Gate, a lot. Like just about all of those you listed, it's heavily character-driven, and well/entertainingly written.
Lol, thanks. I have heard of Steins;Gate, isn't there a sequel or prequel to the show that I should watch?

Kare Kano 01

Yukino, it's like you just get me or something.

She's awesome and you can definitely tell Anno directed this show from the first episode. I'm liking it. I hear about some animation inconsistency in the latter half of the show but hopefully it won't hamper my enjoyment of the show.

I think Chaos;Head is set in the same universe but the anime adaptation is supposedly terrible. You're not missing anything by watching Steins;Gate on it's own.

Gundam Seed HD 6

How awkward to have a space federation named Atlantic Federation, regardless compelling episode for Kira and hilarious scene with the
captains screaming to get out the room, made me laugh
. CG effects was so awkward.

Chaos;Head is one of the worst anime that I've ever watched to completion. I don't even remember 95% of what happened, just that it took a somewhat interesting premise and threw it out the window in favor of some terrible shit like
girls with magical swords
. I somehow made it to the end through some seriously delusional hope that it would eventually right itself. It didn't.

I almost didn't watch Steins;Gate because of its association with C;H, which would have been a huge mistake.

Ah My Buddha - 02

How does sunlight work?

ahem

Anyway, Ikkou-kun almost looks like a young Adachi (Persona 4) in some of these shots . Hey, is that Kuwabara too? Episode was amusing. Harem setting paying dividends with the olden folk, and Chitose's so damn popular.
That sermon by her can send both living and dead people to the after life? Those implications.

The Law of Ueki 10

Wait a second. At first we were told that Ueki has to fit trash into both of his hands clasped together to turn it into trees, but now he can just shoot it out of one hand? This series has slipped away from the rules it carefully established at the beginning. Even besides that, there was nonsensical writing all over the place in this episode, particularly the laughable backstory.

Daily Lives of High School Boys 4-5:

Man, this show! XD Totally parodying how every other bloody show these days is about high school girls by making the few HS girls in this show bloody evil and violent as fuck! XD I love it!

Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei 12
GAExs.jpg

That's more of a hard landing.
First part was hard landings vs soft landings which resulted into a swimsuit competition. Then, there were a bunch of short movies of getting too involved and finally a massive otaku referencing free for all.

Denpa Onna 13

It starts out as pretty much a standard festival bonus episode followed by some actual "plot" with
Yashiro apparently summoning a meteor from space.
It's a better ending than that baseball episode anyway. Has this sold well enough to get a second season, or is SHAFT too busy with Monogatari and Madoka spinoffs?

New Prince of Tennis 6
tumblr_lz3eqlE5ah1r201ypo1_500.png

Utterly terrible. How in the world did this episode make the cut? Unappealing characters get focused on
however the moment did make me chucke because of the VA, lol
and the biggest offense...where was the tennis?

So who's going to see Arrietty in theaters on the 17th? Saw the poster for it while I was going to see Dragon Tattoo. It'll be the first time seeing anything anime on the big screen for me; I'd rather not miss out.

Oh Yanagi, being a bro and an underwater thief. I didn't expect your powers of your determination to manifest in Super Yanagi Z.

The characters have been unremarkable so far, but I want to comment on the character introductions in Episode 1: it was totally unnecessary. You could easily be introducing each character more efficiently if you have smaller group interactions like the ones here in this episode between Sumi, Chitose, and Yuuko.

Will go if it's playing anywhere near me.

The Law of Ueki 11

Hold it! The end of last episode established that Ueki only had three pieces of trash left on him, and he used them all up. He shouldn't be able to make any trees at this point. And you can see he doesn't even have any trash! He's just shooting trees out of his hand now! If you're going to make rules, play by them, damn it!

Nice face there.

I'll go. The only other anime I've seen on the big screen was Ponyo, which I actually got my entire family to go to. (My parents were rather bemused, but my brother really enjoyed it.)

I'm considering it, but I'd like some assurance first that the dub is good. I almost went with some friends to see Ponyo a few years ago and passed at the last minute, which I kind of regretted. The only anime film I've ever seen in theaters was the third Pokemon movie =/

Disney always does solid dubs for Ghibli movies.

Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko 13 (DVD bonus episode)

I'm amazed that everyone hadn't completely forgotten this was still on the way. Glad that Shaft finally found the time to get around to making this; it was supposed to be released back in mid-December, you know.

That was actually incredibly fun to watch. Ten minutes of Ryuuko being really cute followed by a bit of the same from Erio, then believe it or not the episode takes a sharp turn for the badass and awesome
with some esper shenanigans
.

A word of caution: for those of you susceptible to high levels of hnnnnnng content, this episode will probably be the end of you.

Riding Bean (Have you seen Gunsmith Cats?)

There is just something about how bullets destroy everything in their path in these types of shows that I love.

wItoR.jpg

The plot is actually a lot more incolved than I gave it credit for. Our protagonist is Ryan Gosling the Roadbuster, an amazing getaway driver for hire...with a heart of gold of course. He also eats pinaples WHOLE, and eats walnuts shell and all. SO BADASS is the appropriate way to describe him.

The OVA (It's only about 45 min) is worth watching for the ridiculously fast and fluid car chase sequences. Bean's car in particular is a thing of beauty to watch as it dances around the asphalt in every way imaginable
Sideways, on two wheels, it basically flies for a minute!

7kw8O.jpg

It did get weird when
the villains underage lackey tried to fellate their kidnapped old man.
But besides that one awkward scene the OVA is filled with amazing moments and action packed insanity.

Dat 80's soundtrack.....Impossible not to love.

Oh, Chitose's a horror maniac. Boo. I don't think we can ever be friends if you dictated what we had to watch. So unfair.

I did find finding a real ghost in a ghost horror movie to have been funny, but the lead up into that joke was dull. And speaking of killing a joke, the shower scene. So bad. At least vary the reactions.

Lastly, what the hell at that eyecatch :lol

Possibly, if its playing nearby.

I should have never seen Pokemon: The Movie 3 in theaters. The short that aired before it spoiled Ash catching a Noctowl because they didn't check to see that that episode had actually aired in NA before running it alongside the film :(

I've only seen the first one, think I was like in fifth grade at the time.

So you didn't see the poster for it either? Such lies!
I did, but looking back the post didn't need anything more than 'are u going to see arrietty in theater?'

I have never seen any of the Pokemon movies in theaters. Then again I was living in a country that thought Pokemon was satanic and banned it for a year.

Disney's dubs are great, though they have the unfortunate habit of sometimes changing some things. You should have no regrets for missing out on Ponyo. :\
He missed the Digimon movie. :(
Fixed for the truth.

Saudi Arabia?

Those pesky Double Colorless Energy cards!

Also, how limited a release is Arrietty getting? I hope it's not just an NY/LA thing, I'm having difficulty finding showtimes for it at any theaters near me.

Ugh, bad to hear. Was there something that had differing age-appropriateness across cultures in Ponyo or was it just executive meddling of some sort?
