I liked episode 2.
At least in a show like Yami you can find amusement in how poorly put together it is, but in Rosario + Vampire there is nothing but pain.
What show is the character on the left from?

This episode was riveting from start to finish, with a long-awaited and personally significant battle, fight strategies that were exciting to watch play out, and an emotional conclusion.
Or that's what it should have been. As it was, the poor execution and problematic pacing made it boring. The art at the end was too poor to sustain the dramatic impact the narrative was going for.

Black★Rock Shooter 2: That was... weird.
I did quite like the real life stuff myself, but only because I already watched the OVA and already have a perception of Yomi and Mato's relationship. If I had only watched the previous episode and this I would definitely feel confused. Their bond has simply not been given enough time to foster, and indeed it might come out as incredibly manipulative to other people.
The CGI segments are still amazingly well-directed and indeed the highlight of the show, but I can't quite come to like the whole "here's the girls' internal struggles represented in video game form" vibe they opted to take for this franchise. It simply doesn't feel coherent in any respect with the rest of the show beyond the similar character designs. It's true that other action shows make such elements symbolical of internal character strife too, but in there it's more carefully woven into their structure, whereas here it always feels like I'm jumping from a Tetsuya Nomura video game to a soap opera.

Rosario manga is good. Can't speak for the anime though. I hear it's very different.
I watched the OVA, you know. It's a completely different relationship born from completely different situations. You can't really use the OVA characterization or development to justify the events of the TV show since Mato's character is the only part of the TV show remotely similar to its OVA counterpart:

Well that was a nice turn of events and some cool voids. And I guess the statement of scarves making characters cool and epic is true. Shu fit well into his role, but it was more shocking at the end there when

I didn't mind Fade to Black too badly because the concept of turning up and everybody just wanting to fight you again was kind of awesome, but that delivery was shithouse.
I heard the manga of Rosario + Vampire was maybe bits of okay?

The manga pulls a Negima by going full on battle shounen with sporadically good fights and some rather shocking twists considering how the story started out.
It isn't great, but there are shades of genius here and there.

Part of that is that Inumaru isn't as colorful a personality as Kobayashi was, so it's difficult to care about what happens to him. The lack of a memorable and imposing antagonist such as Robert hurts as well. Another part is simply that the execution is weaker, especially the lazy pacing.

What happened to needing to have your weapons rooted on the ground? Hell, what happened to actually needing trash to use your abilities? His explanation for receiving two weapons was also convoluted as hell, but that's to be expected.
It seemed a little interesting but I don't think I'll bother when there's all this other stuff I still need to catch up on...

This episode had better than usual direction - the episode director also storyboarded some episodes of Baccano and Natsume, so it's not surprising that he knows what he's doing more than the others. There was a palpable energy and fluidity to the fight that I haven't seen before, and even afterwards there was some good use of cinematography to set up the power dynamics between the various characters. The usual design problems were still there, but it still managed to be engaging. Hopefully that can continue into the next episode, since it seems to be a pivotal one.

My mind cannot contain the awesome. Seriously, I am not even confident I could explain what just happened. All I know is it was among the most badass scenes I have ever seen in an anime. Forget Shin Mazinger, THIS is more like TTGL.
But yeah, it was kind of hard to follow at times. I have no knowledge of Mazinkaiser beyond the fact that it's a more metal themed reimagining of Mazinger, but it still felt like they tried to cram too much plot into 3 episodes which just made it confusing. We still barely know anything about the characters and main duo beyond "they are incredibly badass dudes".
Either way, I'm here for well-choreographed mech fights more than I am for the plot. It definitely delivered on that and is just making me crave more super robot shows with extremely hot-blooded pilots and good animation. Still looking for someone to top Simon, but that may be unfeasible at this point.

Thats should be safe since its not a sci-fi show.
I'm still not convinced that the plot won't eventually involve the characters battling against an international military organization that uses future technology to impose a jazz ban on Japan or something like that.

There's a couple things wrong with this picture, but I'll leave that as an exercise to the reader.
The backstory was OK at first, but then it got ridiculously contrived and
was another villain straight out of Hell Girl. With such a simplistic view of human nature, it's hard to take what happened at the end seriously. The fight itself was another exercise in power levels and cheater powers and other nonsense.
I want the Cossack dancing back.

In the garden scene Inori said something that was a lot like Mana. Then towards then end(when she killed the ex-president) you could see she resembled Mana a bit. I don't want her to turning into Mana mannnn
