we'll get through this....Every time a scan group gets shaken up by something, we turn on each other....
When did this happen exactly? Both are fine, just don't dismiss One Piece or Naruto just because it doesn't appeal to you and/or you're tired of people reading it over manga you like.
lolOne Piece is so moe
His definition of moe encompasses like 99% of manga.I thought moe was coined to express an extreme to begin with. Seems kinda weird to take it the other way towards the grey area.

Aside from high quality images mangastream has always been a rather shoddy translation site. Everyone used it, but because of their speed.
You went on a rant before about how sameish Bleach, One Piece, Narutu, and I pointed out that saying that is actually factually wrong. You've also made no case to hide the fact that you dislike Jump manga, even here and right now when you passively aggressively agree to someone posting, "I'll survive." yes, we get it, you don't like Big Three cause they're "cliche" and "typical," which neither of those are even remotely a legitimate point against any form of storytelling medium. However this hurts actual legitimate arguments against or for any of these series, and promotes regressive thought. When did this happen exactly?
Not really, more like 70%. If we're including doujins, however, yes it skyrockets to like 99%.His definition of moe encompasses like 99% of manga.
Holy fuck. What the fuck. Fuck off, Viz.
I mean, I still think we'll get the big 3 on Wednesdays. But what about Hunter X Hunter & Hitman Reborn? MS had been releasing those two on late wednesdays lately as well. Now they'll just...fuck.
This is wack.
I didn't catch MZ's version of HxH... But when MZ first surfaced a while back and released all of the big 3 quicker than MS for like 2 or 3 weeks in a row, I read their stuff...so meh. But I'm not really as worried about the translations (unless they're REALLY REALLY off) as I am about the quality of the pages. I read the chapters on my HDTV so I can definitely see a big difference between MS's scans and everyone elses. They'll just get released by mangazone a day earlier at lower quality. Most of you won't even notice the difference (see this week's Hunter X Hunter for example, I think most of the reviews were based on the mangazone version and not mangastream's).

That sorta sounds like something I'd say... But your "factually wrong" statement pretty much makes me not care. You went on a rant before about how sameish Bleach, One Piece, Narutu, and I pointed out that saying that is actually factually wrong.
I read plenty of WSJ manga. And I don't really like Bleach (cept for SS, some other bits), Naruto, and OP. So...this news isn't that big a deal to me. I tease about the big three all the time and I don't hide anything. Stat is an evolved being. I do that too for some reads. On my HDTV right now.

Just read on Mangastream's twitter feed that they're no longer doing Jump titles. Are there any legal alternatives within Europe and the UK, similar to what you guys are talking about above?
Your actually opinion of the series is irrelevant to me, I just cannot stand to see someone post such a claim when I've personally gone leaps and bounds to form my own opinion. There's an academic value in deconstructing these series, which when I see someone saying, "One Piece is too cliche." and passively pressing on people who enjoy One Piece or similar series, then yeah, I have some problems. The "suicide watch" comment was completely off the wall and offensive to my own opinion of the series, my opinion on the stance of manga piracy, and also offensive cause it suggests I'm obsessively reliant on One Piece. So yeah, I'm a bit frustrated.I read plenty of WSJ manga. And I don't really like Bleach (cept for SS, some other bits), Naruto, and OP. So...this news isn't that big a deal to me. I tease about the big three all the time and I don't hide anything. And if I don't hide it, then it isn't passive aggressive.
Then let me deconstruct what I mean, exactly. "Moe-style" isn't necessarily the same thing as saying, "So moe~" it's directly refering to series intentionally designing their characters to look cute and in the typical "anime eyes" "anime hair" style you see in a crapload of manga, which derive primarily from the first modern shojo manga. Moe is a feeling, not a genre. Moe-style aims to get that reaction out of people.Your definition needs some work considering nobody uses that term that way.
I would be willing to pay double for Shonen Jump Alpha if they translated everything instead of just six series. The price is still pretty good for what you get I think. I just hope that they increase the resolution of the scans (especially with iPad 3 w/retina display rumoured to be coming soon) and get the delay down to a week (or less).

Looks like the modern style to draw a young girl. You are defining a manga now based on characters looks. Even if Haruka is drawn in a moe style, I would not call the series a moe manga. So is Haruka a moe character? Maybe. But UDDUP being a moe manga? Nah.
That's approximately what I'm discussing. What else could "moe-style" apply to other than art style?Looks like the modern style to draw a young girl. You are defining a manga now based on characters looks.
"Moe manga" is a recently coined term, there's no such thing as a "moe manga" as that implies there's a genre behind it.Even if Haruka is drawn in a moe style, I would not call the series a moe manga. So is Haruka a moe character? Maybe. But UDDUP being a moe manga? Nah.
The problem is that if they kill the scan sites while only translating the titles that are more popular in the west there's no way for a new title to become popular. They can wait until something becomes popular in Japan before pushing it but then they have the problem of catching people up. Ideally you want to be hooking people on new series as old series come to an end.Isnt that like 20 series with quite a few that most people never heard of? Theres no way they could do them all without abandoning even more of their non jump titles.

I was referring to their art style, which is where the heart of moe lies. If these characters weren't so cute there would be no reason to say, "So moe..."
Then you say:Well you're more into moe manga than action manga so I'm not even sure anymore.
You brought it up yourself and now say it doesn't exist."Moe manga" is a recently coined term, there's no such thing as a "moe manga" as that implies there's a genre behind it.
Now you are referring to "art style" and not the rest of the manga. What, like a moe story? Unicorns and puppies?I was referring to their art style, which is where the heart of moe lies. If these characters weren't so cute there would be no reason to say, "So moe..."
Moe is not a genre, sorry.
What the fuck am I reading?
My fault. I did a He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named thing. The moe argument is in the fucking manga thread now?

So then when you said action manga, is that action "style" or action "genre?"I meant moe-style manga, I've already established that I don't think there's such a thing as a moe genre near the beginning of this quarrel. Which, to quote:
No, this one makes even less sense.a preview of the anime thread at times.
I meant genre with that one. There's just no reason to really associate moe with a specific genre. Moe in genre terms, at best, is a demographic, maybe, but it's hard to define cause just about anyone can consider anything moe while others may set it completely differently. I do not buy that K-on! is a "moe" series; it's a slice-of-life series, you know, an actual genre. So then when you said action manga, is that action "style" or action "genre?"
Yea but nobody here has said moe is a genre. The closest was your comment that said "moe manga." We just tried to respond to how silly that sounded.I meant genre with that one. So...apparently this does not mean you are going against the correct label I used. Instead, you are just hating. And if you are hating for no reason, then that is just as bad as your accusation of me hating on Naruto/OP.Except for like Blood Lad (maybe?) and Sun-ken Rock, everyone of those manga are moe animu shit, including Bleach.
Every main character in that manga is drawn in cute style. If there was just a few, like in something like Berserk or Fist of the North Star, I wouldn't call those "moe-style."Yea but nobody here has said moe is a genre. The closest was your comment that said "moe manga." We just tried to respond to how silly that sounded.
But your statement is basically that if a character is being drawn cute, just ONE character even if there are 100 in the manga, the work is moe style. UDDUP is an action manga.
I'm not hating, just stating the truth. Did not use "shit" in a negative context whatsoever.Yet...
So...apparently this does not mean you are going against the correct label I used. Instead, you are just hating. And if you are hating for no reason, then that is just as bad as your accusation of me hating on Naruto/OP.
So you are either contradicting yourself or being a hypocrite.
