Troll deaths are getting old, and why the fuck you kill a character that was in the manga for abour 200 chapters off screen!!??

Yes, I liked Reika as a character!

I will take that bet! I'm anxious to see what Cherry will do. In my mind hes already dead(regretfully tho hes my fav). His rampage will take a heavy toll on his health. I don't think "this one" will survive now because his suit is toast.

btw what do you make of the monsters they have been fighting in this "hell"? I like the concept but the art style makes it a bit wishy washy

they're kind of odd.

i wonder how the giants found/enslaved them for this show. I mean, these guys shrugged off shots that were annihilating the giants combat suits and severely injuring the level 70 alien from osaka. how the hell did the giants beat these guys in the first place?

So Reika is dead? Haven't read any of Phase 3

This whole MangaStream business would be fine and dandy if Viz got their arse in gear, and provide a better service. Also, what options are there for us EuroGaffers?

Gantz

A major character dying offscreen, horrible waste of chapter to only show Kurono B crying.
Not even the tits save that chapter.

Real

Dat art. The drama is handled very well. Sucks to wait for vol 12.

Liar Game

Harimoto didnt even begin his scheme and Akiyama is on top of it.

I blame Gunbo.
So do I.

Hajimete no Aku (ch133)

-A rarely mentioned series gets a rare mention.

This has been a consistent read of mine though it is a rare mention. It's basically part SoL, part romcom, and part battle manga. The reason it can ping-pong around is that the good vs. evil here is vague. It is also unstructured and quite comical. So it is easy to just bring in the battle scenes when it is necessary.

This chapter was one of the SoL being a sport's festival one. But the main reason I stick with Haji Aku is that it can be quite funny. The other would be that most of the characters are fleshed out well. It's a good series if you find yourself getting tired of some manga which only go in one direction constantly.

Ch in 3 (festival, wardrobe, competitions)

The Earl And The Fairy volume 1

Nice start for this. Story shows potential, with a bit of mystery, fantasy and intrigues. The characters aren't bad either as far as I'm concerned.
I like Lydia, she's a bit naive and too goody good despite the bad things she had to endure growing up because of her red hairs and the ability to see and talk to faeries but her actions and thoughts in the first volume made her appear interesting and funny, which is also a good counter to Edgar's cunning and realistic ways. Ermine and Raven didn't have too much exposure except for some backstory info about their past, so I hope they'll get expanded a bit later.
The art is also good, I really dig the character designs.

Gantz

I would be overjoyed with the death that awful character but
she
should of died 200 chapters ago, I no longer care about gantz to read it.

deserved to die for the crime of cloneing the worst character in gantz.

3rd worst character down now 2 kies and that loli are left.

No. Juvia makes everything worse. Actually the chapters have been good in spit of Juvia.

You shut your mouth.

Back on the MS thing: the ridiculous part of Viz shutting MS down is that we basically know what Viz wants - they want to go from a model where you get everything for free to a model where you get 3% of what's out there for money. It's silly because it's just a bullshit conceit that it takes all this effort to scan mangas and they just couldn't do it day and date. But people are already doing it for free. There's no rational reason they can't do 100% of the Jump series day and date. There's a reason Crunchyroll works, and it isn't because the series it runs are 2 weeks late and include nothing but Naruto.

I've never been opposed to a money model, I'm willing to pay for series I like. I just don't see why they can't monetize this in a way that will actually satisfy consumers.

Print? From my understanding Europe has way more and is farther along in print for lots of series compared to the US.

It would be fine if jpn companies would take it upon themselves to reach out to the rest of the world, too much burden on one company.

I meant digital

I don't buy prints :(. Even with its filler I find it better to buy the Anime of the Stuff I read. Manga takes up so much room compared to a few DVDs

It's not like you would've been able to tell what the hell was happening up to her dying so that really doesn't matter.

The whole death scene... Holy shit. That wins the awkward as fuck award. I think I'm done with Gantz.

But I'm not really as worried about the translations (unless they're REALLY REALLY off) as I am about the quality of the pages. I read the chapters on my HDTV so I can definitely see a big difference between MS's scans and everyone elses.

For image quality, here's a comparison between Viz's SJA and MS. You can see a couple more examples here.

The Viz versions look much better.

MS seems to like darkening their images which seemed to eliminate some of the details.

ST&RS 21

So what is that in the tornado? A face and a town or something? Brilliant plan though. I felt they rushed to get through the plan but the result was magnificent.

This starts to get annoying. Mangastream didn't even hoard their chapters. I'm buying the printed volumes of the series I'm interested in since over a decade, but waiting 3 months for new content is a pain, hence I need my weekly shid.

I agree, for some reason I like the darker images... don't ask me why.

And btw, who exactly did the scanlations for Mangastream anyways? Seems like various sites like Mangareader, Mangafox, ect. had the Big 3 up about the same time (if not earlier) than MS. It sucks that they won't be hosting the popular stuff anymore, but unless the same group's work is what's on other manga sites, I doubt this gonna really effect us much. Just like when Onemanga went down, everyone just transferred to another site.

Scanlators are like weeds, as soon as you pluck one, two others pop up in it's place.

Those pics look good.
I would pay for that quality, but it's not available in my country. (Does SJA have the recent chapters?)

btw, SJA is not available in my country, because another company has the rights to publish for example One Piece(right?)
But, would they get into trouble, if they made their service available anyway?

I've never been a fan of MS ultra-shading on One Piece. I mean, the manga is already busy as hell. The dark lines and shading make it muddled more often than not.

For everything bad you can say about Wolf Guy, we did a fucking good job cleaning those chapters compared to the guys trying to push out their shit same day. It's the only reason I helped them.

Woah, the fan scanlations look like crap compared to VIZ. The Naruto one especially shows how the obsession with black destroyed details.

Does this surprise you? I've been saying that fan scanlations have been crap for a long time when it comes to keeping as much of the original as possible. Most really just overdo it and make it look awful. It's nice that they do it so fast but it takes more work to make it look like what it is intended to be.

Are there any current manga that are more in the style of lone wolf and club / samurai executioner / path of the assassin (except less prurient)? Its a shame how that style has been ignored.

I'd give MS a pass on image quality if they'd stop calling Gerard in FT "Jellal."

The insane part to me is asking MS to stop doing HxH even though Alpha doesn't even have HxH. That sounds like the exact opposite of the best way to sell that service.

Viz gets their images directly from Jump/Shueisha. Scanlators getting their images from raw providers/scanning from the weekly news print magazines don't stand a chance. Ignis posted a good example of what scanlators usually deal with back in the OT3 thread.

oh no how am i going to read poorly translated dragon ball sd

oh wait they didn't even translate the last 2 chapters

I know we've gotten a lot of "characters" in this thread but is that seriously the only thing you read?

Dragon Ball is the creme de la creme of Manga is it not?

Just noticed Bench! was taken off MS too. Weird as Kintoki is still there
