So I caved and went to Best Buy to change my wifi preorder to a FEB. The guy tried telling me that they're not taking preorders at all for the FEB, and to just show up Wednesday. I'm pretty sure he was clueless. :(

I know this is in the very, very, very slim minority... but I would rather get a smalls scratch to ruin the form factor of my device than have it ruined on day one by some wretched plastic sheet or nerf case or whatever.

I hate cases. I never use them. I have a nude iphone, ipad and 3ds and soon I will have a nude Vita. They are just too sexy to fuck them all up with that crap.

I know you disagree, so flame on :)

I sort of know where you're coming from. I protect my devices with cases but I try not to get bent out of shape about scuffs or scratches. Life's too short IMO and I find that the less I worry about damage, the less likely it is to happen

Some european PSP games from the European PS Store are just been converted to work with PS Vita's PSP Emulator!

Just tested GTA: LCS!!

I think most places stopped taking preorders for the FEB actually. All the local GS around me were told that FEB preorders were stopped the other day.

Out of my excitement for the upcoming Vita launch, I made a website for Vita wallpapers. Part of it is me wanting to give people a good site for getting wallpapers and the other part is seeing how quickly and for how long I can rank in the searches. I spent a year doing website consulting (SEO, content, etc.), so this is fun for me. :3

I just got it up and going today, but there is a submission form and a few wallpapers already up. A lot of them are from the Spanish link posted earlier, and I am also in the process of making my own. I thought it might be something useful to GAF and the wallpaper thread (if it gets made). It's ad-free and not disgusting.

http://vita-wallpapers.com/

Please feel free to give me any feedback on the site, and I will do my best to improve it.

Categories should be more visible, and there's definitely more categories than video games.

How does GTA run? Does it feel like a smooth solid 30 fps or is it kinda sluggish compared to GTAIII?

The reason I ask is there was a hack when LCS came out to unlock the PSP CPU to 333 MHz. It made the game muuuuuuch smoother. If it's smooth on Vita it means the vita is probably emulating the 333 MHz clock speed.

I've decided to use Categories like so:

Type of media the wallpaper is from, so Video Games, Music, Movies, etc.

Tags are used for specific titles, so Batman, Assassin's Creed, etc.

As I add more categories, they will appear. I was also thinking of adding a category browser to the top-level drop down menu.

Nope I had the same issue. Retailers already got their shipments of the FEB and their shipments were based on their preorders. The best buys all around me are only getting 1-3 per store and they are all 100% to fulfill their preorders. So I switched to amazon and 1 day shipping. Here's hoping :)

Agreed. I don't foresee any shortages of any kind in regards to the Vita, with the exception of the 32GB card at launch.

It will have a decent launch, but mainstream attention will be diverted to the new ipad unveiling two weeks later.

Amazon.com says hello.

Online stores is not really convenient for people. I like to walk into a store and just browse and have my game right there in my hands. I do like Amazon but people like options.

The case looks great. Are you planning on getting a larger memory card or is the 4gb enough for you?

Def need more space. I want to get Escape Plan and Super Stardust this week. Note that I have $50 down on the Wifi preorder & have $350 in store credit to use. So I can make an investment on a 32GB card.

Super Smooth! Maybe 60ps, with some frame drop, but absolutely nothing compared to the crappy PSP framerate.

Initial loading time also is super fast!! 5 sec ONLY!

Are you saying that some PSP games have been updated and can now copy over to a Vita registered with a UK account...? =)

My local GameStop is still taking FEB preorders. May switch my Wifi preorder to the FEB but undecided still. Help me, GAF!

what you get: Case $30, Memory Card $20, Game $30 (probably the best game to show the hardware off to your nongamer friends and family) - that's $80 bucks right there to offset the $100 in price. PLUS you get it week early, right before a long weekend (most got Monday off), AND you'll get built in GPS that will come in hand with Near and other future apps. OH, and if you throw in another $15 you'll get 2 months of 3G service and a PSN game.

Honestly - unless you only have $250 in your account, I'd say go the FEB rout.

Wasn't there a rumor of a stealth upgrade to 8GB in the FEBs?

I just pre-ordered my PS Vita wifi at EB Games with the trade 4 get $100 off promo, ordered Uncharted: Golden Abyss from Future Shop using my tsilon.ca free game perk, purchased Super Stardust Delta from the PlayStation Store for $9.99! I might head to Future Shop this afternoon to pick up Hot Shots Golf for $29.99 as everywhere else seems to be selling it for $39.99.

Now I just need to wait for February 22 to arrive..

Do you have to redownload the game because I have VIce City Stories already on my PS3 and its not working.

yes you have to redownload the content AND NOT INSTALL IT.

Plug the PS vita to the PS3, select PS3-> PS Vita transfer and select the games.

P.S

NOT ALL GAMES are visibile form the PS Vita ATM. I only tested GTA LCS, but i'm currently downloading VCS! I'll let you know later!!

How would you install PSP games anyway?

Apparently Gran Turismo and Chinatown Wars work in the UK, too.

Edit: not Chinatown, sorry.

Asking again:
Also, if I have the 3G version and only want to use the GPS feature, would that work for games? (Could I use the T@G app for example with just GPS?) Or is the GPS functionality limited in a way that I couldnt use it in games or only 3 times until the GPS free monthly download volume is used or something.

Still considering whether to pick up 3G/GPS or Wifi. If GPS gets me to play games I would miss out otherwise, I'd pick 3G (but only if I can play GPS games without a 3G plan).

No one seems to quite know this, but I do know for the maps app, you still require a data connection in order to download the actual map data.

Sony's probably making more money off those 32gig cards then the Vita.

That's kind of a no brainer. I think all the memory card sales are 100% to 1000% profit for them.

Anyone else pissed that you can't toggle off the auto-sleep feature ?

It keeps interrupting my PSN downloads. Is there any way to keep them going, or do I have to fiddle with the screen every X min to keep it awake ?

Ugh.

Don't have one myself to confirm, but I would imagine no. GPS only transfer locational data. Things like t@g will have to use the 3G data to upload/download the user content in the game. Although you could probably use GPS/wifi combo for it to work. Maybe.

Amazing!

Dissidia 012 Final Fantasyshould works too!

Not tested, but it's the only game with the PS Vita compatiblity description. it should work.

I agree with this completely. Don't use a screen protector on my phone or PSP and no scratches on those.

I'm still debating on putting a screen protector on my Vita. I have the Sony ones ordered but I may return them. I'm only going to play it in my home.

I could download map data on Wifi at home, couldnt I? And then use GPS for using the app on the go.

No? Yes?

If the VITA is made from gorilla glass (or equiv.), and I strongly assume it is, getting a screen protector is throwing money out the window.

I'm pretty sure people were claiming it's just plastic earlier in the thread. If it is indeed Gorilla Glass then there's no way I'm using a screen protector.
