Playstation Vita western launch thread | It only does everything, everywhere.

So I bought Monster Hunter Freedom Unite two weeks ago from PSN for 9.99. Am I going to need to re-download it or will that version work fine on the Vita if I transfer it from the PS3?

If it's still in bubble format (i.e. not installed) I think you can transfer straight across.

Lol this is my dilemma. I honestly only want one because it is new tech and everyone else seems so excited for it. I was there for the launch of the original PSP and kind of enjoyed that. I may just give the Vita a go on launch day. I'm still undecided.

Buy the games and accessories you want and go back to the other GameStop and cancel your preorders and get your cash back.

That's what I'm afraid of... Everything I've heard/read before now has reitterated their commitment to making all titles available both at retail and digitally on PSN simultaneously, but I don't know why they'd specify "first party" if there wasn't some flexibility there for other developers (like Disney, say)... I guess the plus side is that with the Vita, you WILL be able to play all the games released for the system, even if some aren't offered on PSN...

My Best Buy and Walmart have nothing even showing a new console is dropping in a week and a half. I know Sony is going for this big push right a launch, but it feels disheartening to us already behind this thing. Just hope it picks momentum once out in the wild.

Make sure you call them or send them an email. They should at least give you free overnight. I changed my order to the FEB yesterday morning at 7am on the phone and got release day delivery without asking.

Hmm. Is the Hori screen protector listed here the same as the one Amazon is selling? Hori. Amazon has it for only $6.99
 
Any idea why if I order Wipeout and the Sony brand screen protector today from Amazon it's says that the 2 day free shipping with Prime wouldn't be scheduled to arrive until Thursday?
 
My initial order had Wipepout, HSG, and a 32GB for Wednesday. It was in my city yesterday lol

They better not hang onto it for some dumb reason. Considering you can walk into store and get the games and card then there should be so reason I can't get them items early.

As long as it's only the display that sleeps and background tasks still continue then it's not a problem anyway, there was a suggestion that downloads stopped when the screen dimmed which would make large downloads somewhat tedious.

I think a big key factor in this working is cross-play, cloud-saving, and bundling a Vita download with the PS3 version at a slight premium cost (maybe $10 or so).

The problem with games like Madden in the past is that they were always severely limited compared to their console counter parts, and it didn't make sense to play it on the PSP when your saves wouldn't carry over to the console game.

I think cross-play + cloud-saving could be a huge, huge feature and I hope more games exploit that aspect later in the year.

I have been calling them and coming in for the past 2 weeks for the 32GB cards and first I couldnt even pre order them.... : (

Then they released all the accessories and the memory cards. I have seen people that live around me GET the 32GB cards from Gamestop.

Then I just call the Gamestop to ask he do you have any 32GB Vita cards. "uhhhmmmm we cant sell those, and the highest we have is 16GB"

^I like how he contradicted his own self right there....so just to push me off the phone he says " They should be out when the FEB comes out" im like ......-___- realllyy.

CAN WE JUST HAVE A NORMAL GAMESTORE IN USA THAT KNOW HOW TO SELL STUFF UGHHHAHAHHAHA lol : D

Do you have kids? I have a 6 month old and I've found portable games much easier to handle. :-P
 
Spare a thought for us EU folk who have no FE Bundle (thanks SCEE), and probably no chance of anyone breaking street date with the hardware or games :(

Also I have Rayman, Lumines, Asphalt and Dungeon Hunter preordered at Amazon UK from back when they first added them and they were way cheaper than they should have been - fully expecting them to be cancelled before release though!

Going to pick up Wipeout on launch day, and I'll probably use the £5 voucher from the preorder pack on Escape Plan - played the demo of that in Gamestation the other day and it seemed pretty good.

I was wondering the same thing. I want the official Sony screen protectors and have gift cards there, but on their webpage it only mentions that they can be shipped to the store in 5 days, there is no mention of them actually stocking them in store or if they will.

Yes, just take care of your gear and it will be fine. I don't use screen protectors on anything I use, from old handhelds to cell phones and I never have an issue because I take care of them.

I don't think it's going to be in such high demand that ebay prices will skyrocket.
 
Anyone do instore pickup for the First Edition Bundle at Bestbuy.com? I'm wondering if I'll be able to walk in at opening. I'm a bit upset that GameStop is doing a midnight launch but best buy isn't, even though Best Buy is what Sony was preordering at the Vita Social Club.

Agreed. I don't foresee any shortages of any kind in regards to the Vita, with the exception of the 32GB card at launch.

It will have a decent launch, but mainstream attention will be diverted to the new ipad unveiling two weeks later.

They're called regular consumer electronics stores. There really is no reason to shop at Gamestop and to put up their with their shit. I find older games easier online and can get newer games at places like fucking Toys R Us.
 
Out of my excitement for the upcoming Vita launch, I made a website for Vita wallpapers. Part of it is me wanting to give people a good site for getting wallpapers and the other part is seeing how quickly and for how long I can rank in the searches. I spent a year doing website consulting (SEO, content, etc.), so this is fun for me. :3

I just got it up and going today, but there is a submission form and a few wallpapers already up. A lot of them are from the Spanish link posted earlier, and I am also in the process of making my own. I thought it might be something useful to GAF and the wallpaper thread (if it gets made). It's ad-free and not disgusting.

That works to a point, but I hate micro-scratches. They might be tiny and for the most part unnoticeable in most situations, but shine a light on 'em...

Anyway, I baby my devices, but sometimes shit happens. Worth the investment for a screen film.

I know this is in the very, very, very slim minority... but I would rather get a smalls scratch to ruin the form factor of my device than have it ruined on day one by some wretched plastic sheet or nerf case or whatever.


I hate cases. I never use them. I have a nude iphone, ipad and 3ds and soon I will have a nude Vita. They are just too sexy to fuck them all up with that crap.


I know you disagree, so flame on :)

The only thing I didn't like about this thing is the sticks on the device.

Yeah, applying a silicone skin or screen film can be more distracting or can ruin the look of a device more than a few scratches can, but the thing is, you can remove the plastic film or case whenever you want, if you change your mind. Can't do that with scratches. But a couple hundred bucks can fix that.
