I doubt you're on the majority side of the people. I doubt that many people plays it multiplayer.

That's not relevant though is it? You questioned them marking Rayman down, but as it has less functionality than its console counterpart that would be justified even if the single player is just the same.

Why is it interesting to see Lumines in their Must Play section? It's been a solid series for Sony handhelds, and it has an amazingly good soundtrack this time.

I think it's the price. $39.99 seems a little steep for the franchise these days. They didn't say it was a "must buy" list though. It's more of a "must play" list, in that respect it makes sense.

Wasn't thinking of getting SSD at launch, but with the great price and terrific reviews, I think I may have to.

I was pretty much expecting Uncharted to get these kind of scores too so I'll still be getting that day 1.

Yeah, Lumines at 40 dollars for only 43 skins is even bothering me ( a huge Lumines fan). I'd recommend someone buy the PS3 or 360 game plus their add-ons instead if they wanted to experience this series. For less than 40 bucks on console you'll have nearly 100 skins. But I'm a sucker for the series, so it's a day-1 for me on Vita.

Looks like I'll be picking up SSD. Can anyone explain Lumines? I tried watching some YouTube videos of it but it didn't look very fun,

It's a falling blocks/match 4 game. You just need to match four of the same colour in a square to make them disappear. The music and skins are the real attraction though. It's a beautiful gaming experience.

Honestly, I'm in the same boat. I had it pre-orderd, but thought otherwise, and I am waiting for a price drop/deal to pick it up.

If a B2G1 comes around near the launch of the Vita that could be dangerous for me. There's a TON of games I am interested in but am holding out on.

An experience worth $40 for someone who has never played Lumines?

Is lumines really worth $40 in 2012 where you can pick up Tetris for iphone for a buck? Besides the kickass soundtrack, anything else about it being notable enough?

I remember loving the psp game but all versions after that have been pretty subpar in some way.

Ive seen enough gameplay footage of HSG to know that its must play. Its HSG, you cant go wrong there.

I am pissed that I bought SSHD as soon as it went up on the store. They should have been advertising that it would have day 1 DLC.

Its shitty but thats the risk we ran by buying early.

There's also a version of Lumines on the iPhone (which I own) that is only $2.99.

While not extremely optimal to play with a touchscreen IMO, it still provides a similar experience is 1/13th the price.

That's what put me off on paying $39.99 for it, and being blinded by launch goggles.

EG said:
Sony's latest contender is a little late to the game, nearly a year following the 3DS' debut. Still, the Vita is technically a stronger player. Sony's new portable eclipses Nintendo's latest on more battlefields than ever before, outclassing it not only in graphical output, but in touchscreen technology, controls and button layout, user interface design and, perhaps most importantly, game selection at launch. So is that enough for it to pull ahead of the competition? We can't be sure.

Something that sounds cool about Lumines (in the Modnation review):

Whereas Lumines: Electronic Symphony embraces the Vita's connectivity and shows you what your friends have been up to as soon as you start the game,

Nifty. :D

Also Reality Fighters reviewing as poorly as it looks, hah.

It's probably more worth $40 for someone who hasn't played it, than somebody who's played it on multiple systems. It's a puzzle game, so how much you get out of it depends on how much you get into it.

Heading over to Gamestop to pre-order my Vita tonight. Going to get a 16GB card, a case, and Uncharted for sure. Definitely need a second game though too. Leaning towards Hot Shots Golf or maybe Dungeon Hunter (depending on reviews) for some good old fashioned dungeon crawling.

Don't think I'd agree with this. Maybe not the majority of Vita early adopters, you would be right.

My son and I played the demo and immediately went and bought Rayman Origins new for PS3 this weekend, based entirely on the fact that it would make a good couch-co-op experience. We've been looking for an experience like that since New Super Mario Bros. Wii, which, I hear, sold a few copies.

I don't blame them for not having it in the Vita version, but it does seem a bit strange since local co-op was such a hit with Monster Hunter. Stripping one of the big features of the game should cost it some review cred.

I saw it said on Twitter that the ad teaser seemed reminiscent of 'Double Life'... seeing the full thing it seems like a slightly more literal take on that theme, but pending an English version, I think it might be a pretty good throwback to that.

About that price thing... here in Europe, price of Vita games is the same than 3DS ones. 3DS games are 40€ or 45€. 45€ all first party. And DS games had similar price (35-40).

If european reviewers had to consider the price compared to home console games, no 3DS game would go over 6.

SSD seems to be the runaway review darling. Well deserved from what I see.

Glad I didn't purchase it yet. Getting the bundle for sure.

I'd be curious how the original Super Stardust Portable plays using the 2nd analog stick, just because I never could get very far with it having shooting mapped to those 4 buttons on PSP.

Is it compatible? Anyone try it yet?

God dammit.

Ah well. I'm sure Stardust is going to see the most playtime for me over the next few months so an extra $3 isn't the end of the world. Sucks that I thought I was being pro-active though. :3

Man, with my games coming in today from Amazon, I really don't know if I'll be able to hold off from moving my 3G Launch pre-order to a FEB pre-order :|

By working out the math, the FEB will cost me about $18-$22 more than the 3G Launch Bundle, but will also come with the awesome FEB Vita case, which you can't buy separately.

$20 for a week early and the case...hmm...decisions. How strong am I? :lol

Everything about that Lumines release sounds cool. That 3$ iOS version is not even close to representing the real deal. Touch screen controls suck for this game. As someone else said, its a beautiful experience.

Tetris and Lumines are only comparable in that they're both puzzle games. Worth 40? No, sadly. I'm a fan of Tetris and Lumines (and to a larger degree Panel de Pon) but there's really no comparison to me when it comes to pure fun. Lumines is just better.

I am glad for Jeff Gerstman's Uncharted review.

He is usually the one that is the less affected by hype or launch goggles.

I am still buying the game, but at least I have realistic impressions from a seasoned profesional.

Uncharted's meta is 7.8 right now. Doesn't seem like the system seller most expected to be honest. I still think lack of multi hurt the game.

Name alone will sell it to some. For me an 8 average isn't bad overall, but it's definitely not worth my 50 bucks. When the inevitable deals start rolling in, I plan on grabbing it and probably Rayman.

You can't agree, but it's probably the truth. The game didn't even sold that well, and I doubt many people play it in multiplayer. And you can't compare Mario with Rayman (besides the two of them being platformers) on sales.

I don't like that they didn't implement it in too, even local ad-hoc would be alright for it. But it's not that big of a loss.

I think the similarity to the first Uncharted game (Drakes Fortune) hurts the game because it's clearly the worst Uncharted (but still a good game)

I read the reviews and watched the videos and to me it looks like Uncharted: Drakes Fortune 1,5

Yup, handheld games have insane prices in Europe. Also, promotions happen very rarely. Which is why I'm considering going full digital if I can get titles on US store for 34.99$.
