I really don't understand these arguments :). Don't buy it then! If the game that I really want to play gets 7 it's great! That's all I need to know. On the on other hand if the game that I have no interest in got 8 I still wouldn't care :). I'm excited about Vita because there are games that I want to play, not because those games got good scores.

Well, with a launch of titles that I had pretty much mild interest in to begin with, seeing the lack of a real killer app kind of hurts. It's mainly re-hashes, and most done just "good" not "great".

I know it's status quo to hate on review scores, but to me they are useful. Yeah, you can point out the high metacritic games all day that aren't all that great, but for the most part, shit ends up where it belongs.

I've read some of the reviews, and a lot of the games on launch have flaws.

Does a 7 mean I won't enjoy the game? No, I've played plenty of games that got mediocre scores that I enjoyed.. thing is.. I waited and bought those games for $20 or less. Say a game like Singularity, it's sitting at a 77. Which is a decent Meta.. I liked the game.. but I liked it at the $15 I paid for it, wouldn't have liked it as much at $60 for what it was.

Hey, does the Vita support DLNA media playback? This would make a nice media playback device if I could access my networked media through PS3 Media Server.

PS Vita First Edition Bundle launches Wednesday! Who's an early adopter and what games are you picking up for launch day?

You can turn off 3G signals, you know that right?

Edit: didn't read the rest of the post...but it sounded like you were saying that 3G battery has a weaker battery than Wi-Fi.

Again this doesn't make sense, only when you actually use 3G right? You keep making it sound like the 3G Vita eats battery faster than the WiFi model when as far as I know, that's not the case. You should be able to make it into a WiFi model simply by turning off 3G and GPS and all things would be the same. The wording you keep saying refers to the model, not the functionality as if there's something about the model that eats battery life more than just using the functionality.

It makes perfect sense to divert funds saved from a 3G model to apply it to other Vita items, but I'm just not understanding the battery life justification because you don't have to use them when you don't want to and then the battery life is the same. Let me put it another way, if the 3G Vita and the WiFi Vita were both $250, would you still get the WiFi Vita over the 3G Vita?

Okay, obviously I'm not being very clear. Having 3G turned on eats the battery faster, that has been stated in several reviews. Yes, I know it can be turned off, thus extending the charge. What I guess I didn't impart very well is that due to the hit on the battery life for using 3G AND the fact that it costs $50 more AND the fact that I already have a 4G WiFi hotspot, FOR ME PERSONALLY, my money is better spent on a WiFi model and a larger memory card. Thus when I'm using it on the go, I can connect to the WiFi hotspot and still get decent battery life, faster connection speeds, and full access to all Vita online activity.

Ign seemingly spent way too much time in their umvc3 review shitting on touch controls. Seriously, theyre optional and i dont know one person who is dying to play this because they can jab at their screen.

Did they elaborate on how the d-pad was in playing the game? That's honestly the only thing I'd care about in a review of UMvC3. That and what's in it and what's not...

Wipeout and Uncharted just got dropped off by UPS.. My Sony double pack protective screens as well. I also received the PSVita travel pouch. It's a decent size. I think if you have big enough pockets it could fit.. I've tried it myself, albeit I don't have the PSvita yet.

damn IGN gave Uncharted an 8.5, little deviants a 5.0 and Wipeout a 7.0 and they have always been very lenient with their grading. Things continue to look worse for Sony's vita

What world do you live in where a 7 out of 10 and an 8.5 out of 10 are bad scores?

Do we have a review compilation thread?
No, not yet. Someone should make one though.
Looks good but its really is a shame that the PSvita couldn't add 4xMSAA to PSP games, it could have been amazing. Maybe Sony will upgrade their emulator one day.
More AA is always nice, but I'm not sure it's really needed on a small screen.
Any PSN-prices yet for Lumines and Everybody's Golf/Hot Shot Golf in EU and US?
The US price for Hot Shots Golf is in the OP, $35.99.

What world do you live in where a 7 out of 10 and an 8.5 out of 10 are bad scores?

A world where people make up their own scales instead of reading the outlet's score criteria.

If you read the review policy, a 7 is "good", and an 8 is "great".

7: "Sure, there are some issues, but the overall experience is still good enough to recommend. "

Oh, FFS.

I'm worried that the Internet has developed a skewed 1-10 scale in the minds of the young on which 7 is mediocre.

WipEout just arrived via Amazon. Now I just have to wait another week and a day for my Vita. I would love to pick up at least one more retail launch game but I can't seem to get excited for any of them...

I just checked your post history and I wish I hadn't. Lost brain cells in the process. :(

Anyone else picking up Hustle Kings? It has async multi-player over Wifi and 3G!

Exactly. Reviewers are going to totally sour over a game with a premium pricing that is essentially a simple minigame. If it was a $10-$15 downloadable on PSN the scores would be higher.

I actually quite enjoyed the demo when I played it at Social Club, but yeah, it's not a game that justifies retail pricing, especially when it seems to skew significantly younger and less male than the initial Vita target demographic. And let's not even talk about Reality Fighters.

In all seriousness I would make a review thread but I get this when I try to make a new topic:

"you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:"

No, people are just taking reviews for what they "really" mean. A 7 is not a "good" score, IGN doesn't even believe that description. Publishers and developers don't believe 7 to be a "good" score.

We have surveys at my work for customers we service, it's a 1-5 scale. 5 Excellent, 4 Very Good, 3 Good, 2 Fair, 1 Poor. I'm calling to apologize to customers who give us 3's because it's considered bad. Trust me when I say we are more close to the norm with this set of real world definitions of numbered critical evaluation.

Read the reviews themselves. They give me the impression that their 7 actually = good in this case. In the case of Wipeout 2048, it's flawed and brings nothing new to the table but it's still a good game.

The real world where I can only afford so many games so I have to select the cream of the crop and/or what seems interesting like the rest of us?

It doesn't mean either game is bad. I myself am still interested in them but they are no longer "must buy" games.

Also, i've been using IGN for close to 16 years now and I have always found their grades to be way more lenient than some of the other review sites (Gametrailers and Gamespot for example) so I don't get why some of you are calling me crazy.

In school a 7 is a C and an 8.5 would be a B. Many of us expect A grade work from Sony and their studios.
