Wow, did they really just say that most Vita games look like iPhone games?

And how can you say Wipeout doesn't look good? Sure you don't dig the framerate.. but the graphics are pretty stellar?

Lol, he just went to the XMB in less then a second, changed the song, and went back to the game..

AND THEY WERE STILL BEING CYNICAL AND SHRUGGING IT OFF

With regards to the system itself "The graphics really aren't doing it for me"

Turned off the live stream after that. Someone show me better graphics on a handheld please, and these are launch titles!

This guy is just killing it.

"I'm just not seeing the graphics leap from current smartphones."

Wait, Fifa has the same defense controls as fifa 11 or Fifa 12? Cause i hate the controls in 12 so that would be sweet and it would push me over the edge and preorder my Vita now lol.

They haven't said a positive thing about the Vita since many, many Bombcasts ago.. so I guess they are just really down on it?

So what if the iPad 3 is coming next month, it won't have a d-pad and sticks will it? -_-;

Have you tried Resident Evil Revelaitons (sic)? I tried gyro aiming in there and thought it didn't feel right. I'm curious how it compares if you've tried it on there as well.

I loved gyro aiming in Zelda OoT (3DS) so I'm excited for it in Vita. Especially since there's no 3D to kill.

I did too, and it looks incredible.

Jeff: "The graphics aren't doing it for me [for Vita in general]" Umm...as opposed to what?
As opposed to his iPhone/iPad no doubt.

Frankly, I don't understand why there's so much FUD swirling around out there over the mere threat of the Vita providing an enjoyable experience. What threat? It's fricken Sony. Sony can't market. Sony can't sell. Sony will shoot themselves in the foot because that's what Sony does.

Why this need to gangpile on top of the Vita to decry everything it represents? "The framerate sucks. The graphics suck. The load times suck." What's so awful about having a rich gaming experience in the palm of your hands? If Sony isn't around to push competition in this space we'll be left with nothing but Angry Birds and Tiny Tower clones with an occasional tower defense game to entertain us in the 6 or so months between Nintendo titles.

Looks like Marvel vs. Capcom is next.

Can't wait to see him trash it compared to the console version.

"See that sprite? Its just not as smooth as the console version."

DoctorWho: I thought I heard something like that when he talked about being disappointed in the graphics. I'm trying to listen as much as I can, but I thought I just heard him say something like that. Probably the way he feels regardless.

These review scores don't bother me. Many great systems have launched with MUCH worse. That's not to say the system will succeed, but for me future unit sales never mattered. I look at the launch/announced list and consider it already a portable system worth $250. If it bombs, but I still have those games, than I 'm happy. If you are expecting way better than what's already announced, then my advice to you is to wait. In 10 years I'll be playing Gravity Rush while you pay $100 for it on ebay.

They are really not into it. Brad is bored, scrub kid tries to look serious, etc. They spend way too much time on a single game - are they planning to be doing this for 4-5 hours more? Then they would be able to cover everything.

I can't wait to see this Quick Look, seeing I highly value the opinion of Jeff Gerstman.

The complete lack of launch goggles is what I look for when a platform launches, not validation that my 350$ purchase wasn't in vain.

I haven't actually tried it in Zelda so unfortunately I don't have a frame of reference. My problem with it in RE was I'd fire, but I'd also move my position thus throwing my aiming off. I'll hit the first shot, but quickly getting second and third shots became a chore compared to the regular controls because any movement of the device would move the aiming.

People really shouldn't be taking GiantBomb Vita opinions too seriously. They're basically always down on all handhelds. 3DS got the same treatment.

If you're a handheld gamer, you should be used to this kind of thing from almost all media outlets.

Yeah Virtua Tennis 4 is day one for me. I enjoyed it so much on the PSP. Such a time consumer. Nothing better than a game like that to have at launch.

Looks like Uncharted/Wipeout/Virtua Tennis for me @ launch.

Uncharted does that, as well... but it was really only a problem so long as I was unaware of it actually happening. Once I adjusted and realized the impact the gyro was having it was far easier to aim precisely and get headshots. I just had to make the mental adjustment to STOP playing it like a console Uncharted title and deprogram the way I was approaching the game. Now I'm playing gunfights like Time Crisis married with Gears of War and it's been far more enjoyable ever since.

From the couple of games I've played on the demo, it seems to be FIFA 11 style "hold to tackle" defending.

They are being rather negative it about it all on Giant Bomb I have to agree....

Yeah, Brad's smirk when Jeff said Wipeout is now available.. as if the Vita raped his daughter or something.

It's really rather pathetic to see them there with the Vita, a huge stack of games, and they are all just sitting there with no energy in the room whatever. Maybe they should stick to something they like?

I believe it has the FIFA 11 system and I agree, the new defense system sucks so bad.

I just read that the Vita doesn't work online when connected to AC? Can anyone confirm this?

In the stream friend requests were incoming, but regular multiplayer has not been able to work yet. Is that because it's pre-launch?

They should just take the Vita, mail it and all of the games back to Sony and go back to playing Saints Row, Skyrim and Skylanders. They'd have more fun.

They're a games site, I can't understand why they have so much negativity for the Vita. It's a gamer's system, it's not made for casuals, and these are just the launch games. I don't really get all the negativity from them.

I think I've started drifting away from Giant Bomb because of their general negativity of everything.

Video games are amazing, even if they aren't so perfect, there's no reason to be so critical. Knowing about every little thing that's wrong with a game doesn't matter for most people.

I think I'm going to judge which games I may like from multiple podcast discussions. I wouldn't know about Gravity Rush if it weren't for podcasts!

That's why I'm so mindfucked about this, Jeff has been ranting and raving about how much he enjoys Skylanders for months! I guess he really doesn't like his handhelds.

Maybe

You know

They aren't particularly excited yet

It really bums me out how much reviews affect gamer's buying decisions.

Maybe it's because I'm old, but I just buy the shit I want to buy, regardless of review scores.

I think (hope) a good number of us are the same way here. I actually base my game buying decisions on gamer's impressions, gameplay videos, and SOME on a reviewers opinion of the control scheme. The control scheme is the only thing I'll read and pay any attention to - story, gameplay, music, etc. are of no concern to me. Those are all super subjective. Controls, though, I feel are more black and white(ish).
