And even i am moderately surprised
If the console was FULL of titles like that I'd be tempted honestly, even though I don't like handhelds much. Sony seem to just be focused on making it a mini-PS3, which is the last thing I want since I have a PS3 and a 40" TV to play them on.
Definitely - if you have no need for a handheld gaming system and the ability to play games on the go then it really is a tough sell, and that potentially covers a couple of issues Sony are going to have : differentiating the system from the PS3 and pursuading the wider market why the "richer console experience" is better than the experience they get on their phone (a device that , by default, they -have- to carry)
For people such as yourself it seems that the "value proposition" is going to come mid 2013 when the library is fleshed out and the system is less expensive. Right now, it's clearly going to be too much cash to pay out for a system that doesn't have a lot of what you are interested in
We can only live off ports for so long though
i meant that porting down existing engines would help cut costs and of course you could reuse art assets rather than just peddling out ports - though i'll be perfectly honest : my situation is now that i'd gobble up ports because playing on the go is where i do most my gaming these days. But yeah, that's not going to take them very far at all.
