Touch My Katamari was a must have for me for two reasons, the first is they are enjoyable without being too stressful and the other is, the games don't lose value, try to find the PS3 version of Katamari for less than $30.

I saw it for 16 new on amazon around Xmas when I was shopping for a friend.

edit: it's currently 23 bucks :shrug

Did they remove Multiplayer from Rayman for PSVita? It probably isn't a dealbreaker because I remember beating original Rayman and that was a 1 player game. That said, I heard many people say they had fun with multiplayer on console and mine's still in the shrinkwrap and I might nab the Vita version instead.

WHAT. THE. FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!

FIFA 12 better be on the absolute easiest setting, because that looks broken. He has no clue how to play, and he's dominating.

Yes, only single player for Vita version.

Anyone know how to sort the C0-10932-5 error? Cannot copy my copy of blazblue from my UK account to my account on the Vita (same one) gets a full bar copied and then errors with that. O_O

On my way home i'm expecting to travel through a time portal and by the time I get to my apartment it will be Wednesday and there will be a box with a big smile on it. If that doesnt work I hope when I wake up in the morning it's wednesday and I wont care how it happened.

work for game company?

Not gonna lie, would maybe buy Dynasty Warriors for $20 because I kinda want to play a dumb game
Sony hooked up devs :) Thanks Sony!

First impressions:
LIGHT! Holy smokes, for how large it is, it is crazy light. It feels (but probably my mind playing tricks on me) lighter than a iPhone 4s.
The screen is godlike! Wow! Super impressive!

Only issue is my thumbnail is too thick to open up the cart slots, so I've had to use a pin or ring finger.

They removed multiplayer but added leaderboards, so there's that kind of "competitive" mode.

I'm neither from UK nor do I like football, but right now I'm offended by GB.
So much negativity in this room :(
It's like watching a funeral on which all participants are untactful.

These early reviews are a little disappointing.. I'm not seeing a real reason to buy a Vita at launch..

Went by my local gamestop to try their demo unit but they have it locked away and aren't letting people play it because apparently people had been abusing it.

Can't say that I blame them, but I figured they could unlock it and let me play it there at the counter and take it back from me after a few minutes if it could have secured them a sale.

Oh well.. the waiting game begins.. or continues, depending on how you look at it.

What dev are you? =)

I believe he works for Monolith (not the one that nintendo purchased), but the one that made F.E.A.R. for PC years ago.

I don't think it applies to Nintendo at all. They have a long history that you can look at to see what you can expect out of Nintendo. You can always expect the first party stuff to be the strong selling point of the platform and that is something you have to weigh in on when you develop on a Nintendo platform. Nintendo handhelds were a safe and dependable platform to develop on at a low cost. 3DS changed that because they stumbled with it in a couple areas that were clear to anyone paying attention before it launch (ie price, and the name confusion).

It does affect Nintendo. Otherwise, they wouldn't need to lower the price of 3DS, and rush out the circular pad to strengthen 3DS's position vis-a-vis Vita and iOS/Android. Fortunately, they executed really well on the games planning + development side, and also have the $$$ to lower the price quickly. But for now, they are back to the DS pillar instead of positioning 3DS as an additional pillar.

Sony on the other hand has to move beyond them being associated with the PSP, they have to move beyond the negative press they've had recently, they have to move beyond the negative stigma that the media is already applying to the Vita, they have to deal with the rise in development costs that this platform is going to demand in order to make games that look good and stand out, they're going to have to somehow deal with the popularity of iOS devices and cheap gaming that is damaging the industry, and deal with a Nintendo handheld that is now about $100 cheaper at the moment.

Even with the negativity on PSP, it is making a neat profit for Sony. That's why they can't afford to kill it just yet. Vita is priced to keep PSP alive, while remaining attractive to core gamers.

We don't hear Vita development cost getting out of control. It is designed from the ground up to simplify development. This is not 2006 anymore. Sony has done quite a few things to ease the pain, and there are mature cross platform tools developers can use to deliver for multiple platforms. What (or rather one of the things) Sony needs to do is to bridge Playstation Suite and PS Vita games so that developers can develop for Vita first, and then port to PS Suite easily as cellphone/tablets become powerful enough to handle them even with a "general" OS underneath the games.

What happens when you try downloading direct to the Vita on that account? Or is the UK store not up yet? If so, try to wait until later this week. Also try a fresh download to your PS3 if you've kept it in bubbled mode for a long time.

The last... and most unpleasant... possibility if these issues persist when you are able to download directly to your unit is that you've got a bum memory card. Because I was running into the exact same type of thing last week until I had it replaced.

No he works for Sucker punch I think.

You mean the developer of Gotham City Impostors, out now for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and Steam from Warner Bros. Interactive!

edit: Or the developer of Infamous: Festival of Blood, also available for PlayStation Network from Sony Computer Entertainment

Yes, only single player for Vita version.
I tried getting the bf into Rayman Origins on the ps3 demo with me and he didn't like it. I'm getting on Vita cos I know i'll be playing all alone :( I hope it's up on PSN soon(er) than launch! In other news, I've discovered how a properly-controlled-with-dual-sticks Monster Hunter game is like crack. I can't stop.

wow I think Super Stardust may be the highest rated launch game for the Vita? it got like 9.5 from IGN
Deserved. It's a great game. It's also #1 on the 'Top Downloads' on the PSN store, which is nice to see for exposure if nothing else.

Store isn't up yet, I have the game downloaded from the PS3 (it's a review code) but when I copy it across after the bar is fully green it just comes up with the error. The mem card worked for saved games (Uncharted, Wipeout) :(

Escape Plan isn't on the store yet :( That is what I'm looking forward too since I have lots of friends who worked on it.

My launch plan was Uncharted, Escape Plan, and Hot Shots Golf.

It is right now but that's largely being skewed due to that big 9.5 and the fact that only four reviews are posted on Metacritic and GameRankings. We'll see how that maps out over the course of the next several days. Could easily see something like Rayman Origins rating higher.

Saved games worked fine for me, too. Larger files (bigger than Super Stardust Delta, at least) are what caused downloads/transfers to crap out with error messages.

Well, current launch plans are as following:

Purchased
- After Some Edition Bundle
- 16GB card
- Lumines
- Hot Shots Golf
- WipEout

Probably Will Get
Escape Plan
Super Stardust

On the Fence
Katamari
FIFA 12

Cheapest game for Vita is also the highest rated. Hmmm. :)

It also seems to have no glaring flaws that need to be pointed out (Wipeout's load times, price concerns with Lumines, etc.). It sounds like it's just about perfect for what it sets out to do.

maybe Escape Plan may steal the thunder

But like I said before, you could see stumbling blocks with the 3DS before it launched and clearly that's what happened. It's not like there weren't signs that the 3DS might have issues. Despite that, the 3DS surely is the safer bet between a Nintendo handheld and a Sony handheld at this point in time.

Even with the negativity on PSP, it is making a neat profit for Sony. That's why they can't afford to kill it just yet.

It's not making developers a neat profit. Who cares if Sony is making money if the developers aren't. That's not to say no developer is making money but we've all heard the complaints about how low volume software sales are from various devs.

Development has been made easier in many ways but at the same time, there's only so much you can do to ease development. Tools are always of great importance to developers early on so on that front good for Sony to do so, but art content doesn't somehow get automatically cheap. Then there are game engines that help ease development in some ways but they make things harder in others such as how bloated they can be. Everyone talks about Unreal Engine, but man it can be a pain in many ways such as memory and performance. That's going off on a tangent though...

We're going off on the wrong tangent anyways if we think the center of the problem is ease of development. That's not where the Vita's issues are. It's not even in the hardware design. It's in the market viability.

God, I hate myself having to come to this as I hated seeing all the doom in gloom in the media without giving it a fair shot, but let's face it, as crappy as it is, there is some element in truth there. Much more so than other platforms that get released. Going back to Nintendo, the 3DS if anything is an indicator that those doom and gloom articles have merits of truth to them.

I want the Vita to do well. I think it's a great an exciting platform, but all my years of experience tells me I wouldn't bet my development company on the Vita despite it being an exciting platform in a bubble.

... why is this Modnation race only featuring four racers...? P... Please tell me it's just because it's a beginner course or something...

Some people will point to substantial (and comparatively substantially priced) day one DLC. I'll be picking up the bundle though! Should really keep an eye out for cheap PSN cards, but they never seem to appear. :(
