Is anyone buying warranty for the machine? I'm looking at 3 year squaretrade warranty right now. Does this 3 year includes the manufacturer's warranty or does it start after manufacturer's warranty is gone?

Any ideas? Is warranty worth it?

well, i'd heard something about frames being duplicated or something in the emu and it looking smoother.

Just tried GT and it looks a little smoother but nothing earthshatteringly different - it's also an age since i played these games so i really would have to run them side by side.

interesting. Someone was mentioned it was buttery smooth earlier so I was surprised this didn't make a bigger noise. I mean, if PSP games were all improved (in speed), that would have been a fair surprise.

I guess that deep down, i was hoping that the slowdowns would be gone from FFT WOTL (is that even on PSN?).

Maybe. Depends on where you'll use the system, who will use it, and who you get the warranty from. I got a 1 year warranty for my launch PSP that covered basically anything. When I went to renew the warranty, they didn't have a system in place to just renew it so they traded me a brand new system. :p

it's depressing to see that konami hasn't released a single castlevania game, psone or psp, on Euro PSN.
I am sure i'll end up playing more vita games than psp or psone classics, but i hate not being able to play my favourite games on that gorgeous oled screen. At least Motorstorm AE is on euro psn.

Sony has said a 2-year warranty will be available on PSN for the Vita just like they offer for the PS3

not sure how much it would be for the Vita but the PS3 one is $45 on PSN for Plus members

I've become obsessed with check my Amazon order history to see if my FEB status has changed to "shipping soon." How soon does this usually happen for released date delivery? I figured the process would've started yesterday evening. I'm just worried I'm not going to get it on the 15th, as I leave for a trip extremely early in the morning on the 16th. :(

How does everyone feel about fighting games on Vita? I want to get BlazBlue, but I'm worried about the wear and tear playing that kind of game could do on the buttons and d-pad.

You're worried about playing games on a games console?

Interesting..... I'm sure Sony would have thought that you might want to play games on it and designed it accordingly.

Just a hunch.

No, but I made sure to pre-order it from a local shop in case any issues arise. Hopefully, customers will notice problems within the first few months or so, like with the 3DS's scratched screen.

I'm exciting to pick up some more games, been using a Japanese Vita for a bit. Heads up 8gig memory is definitely not enough. Already deleting games lol

I really hope when I download WipEout 2048 on launch day that the servers aren't getting hammered. I'm already dreading slow download speeds. lol. *sadface*

I would have probably gotten this if hadn't been of the non-compatibility of PS1 games. I recently bought Castlevania: SotN, Chrono Cross, and Metal Gear Solid from PSN and I was hoping to play them on the bus.

Guess I'll just grab a cheap PSP then.
If you're only interested in playing PS1 titles, then the PSP is your best choice. However if you do want to play Vita games, PS1 support will eventually be added so waiting would be your best option.

Release day shipping is 1-day overnight shipping. You'll get it on the 15th.

Well it appears that Unit 13 is available to download if you get a code from Sony, until then we'll have to wait till the release date. This is all someone had to say on the matter in New Zealand.

Unit 13 is fiddly to control. I liken it to SOCOM on the PSP, but better.

Most likely Hot Shots. Though I'll probably mess around with the OS for hours before that. :)

This.

I will have 3 games at my disposal immediately, Wipeout, Rayman, and Hot Shots. However, none of these will matter for the first hour or so as I play around and learn all of the features first. I always do this with new systems (or anything). I have to explore every option first.

Ooh first game. Probably going to be Lumines though Hot Shots will be tempting. Both will consume 50+ hours before it's all said and done though. Nice thing is I have this week off and get back from a trip Wednesday early evening pretty much exactly when the Vita should get there. :D

I normally do that, but I think this time I will play a game first till the battery needs charging, then go through all the options while it is charging plus can download my free game while I am doing that (Since Uncharted turns off the Wifi feature while playing). :)

So, I have $350 in Amazon gift cards, and I'm hospital-bound for probably a couple weeks after Vita releases... I was all set to buy one, but to be honest, these launch titles just aren't doing it for me. Uncharted looks pretty disappointing, and the only other one that looks ok (Wipeout) has mega-long loading times. I already have Rayman, and I'm pretty Lumines'd out. I really don't think I'm gonna bite anymore.

Vita buyers: What's the main reason you're getting one? I'm really looking for any good reason to pull the trigger.

Don't bother trying to watch. It won't probably change over till the late afternoon or early evening the night before.

"first game" will be Lumines.

I can see why the Vita doesnt interest some people but the 3ds/vita just happen to have alligned perfectly with my more mobile focused gaming recently. Praise be

AstroLad, you're active atm... If I were going to get a vita, what games should I get? Should I just wait?

My reasonining? Play games like Gravity Rush in the future, improve PSN PSP games I have now. A bit of a shame though that I wanted to get physical versions of Gungnir/Growlanser but may stick with digital just for Vita compatibility.

You're going to be in hospital for a few weeks and you're complaining about WipEouts load times? ;)

No kidding. I would love to be bed ridden when the Vita comes out, that sounds like the perfect scenario, hopefully I catch something serious soon.

For me, once launch hit my radar it was pretty simple. I'm a huge Lumines and HSG addict, and I can really never get enough of either series.

Also I've been a bit meh on iOS/Android gaming the past few months (outside of the awesome board games). A lot of the action titles are feeling same-y to me and the sports titles are just horrendous. Enter Vita where I get a totally different experience from what phones and even the 3DS are giving me. All that aside though, if it weren't for HSG & Lumines I would be waiting on the Vita. Vita with a launch lineup of 3DS quality I would definitely be waiting on.

What do you want me to say? It's the truth. We're at 91 pages of replies. At this point almost anything that can be said about this launch has been said. The info is there. Make your own choice.
Actually my question was perfectly valid. Just because you don't want to answer it doesn't mean it shouldn't be asked. And to legitimately suggest that someone read through 90-odd pages of a console launch thread... Who are you kidding?

I wasn't being lazy, or a jerk. Just asked a fairly simple question that's probably on a lot of people's minds at the moment, and hoped someone wouldn't mind answering it. Perhaps you need to reevaluate how forums work.

---------------------------------

Anyway, the short version of the question is what software looks really exciting and promising, and is it worth getting the console now, or should I just wait until better games come about?

Edit: looks like a bunch of you guys already answered me. :)

Given your situation it makes no sense to wait. Anyway, hope things go well at the hospital for you. :)

I'm buying it because it's a new piece of tech for me to play around with.

Also, PSP just hasn't really hit the spot for me due to the limitations it has with UMD media, no mic, camera, etc. built in.

Personally I'm not super impressed with the launch titles. I think there's a decent variety, but I'm not expecting to be blown away by them. I honestly have no idea what's on Vita's future game release list, but I trust Sony to deliver games I'll be interested in.

I've basically kept myself on a media blackout for the Vita, so a ton of it will be a surprise for me. That's the main reason I'm excited for it.

What? My answer was perfectly legitimate. You were the one who took... offense? I don't know what you're off on.

I'm buying the thing to play the games released for it.

Concerning Fifa Soccer, do we know if:

1. Will it be possible to disable all touch controls (playing as it is in the home console version)?

2. Playing online, will it be possibile to play agains people with our configuration? I mean that not using touch controls I don't want to play against guys that use them.

Exactly the same here. Most excited about Lumines since I've never given any of the others significant time, but I'm pretty cold on the rest. It's a fairly typical, port/sequel heavy launch.
Looking forward to catching up on some PSP games as well.
