Hands on with the final version of Unit 13, if anyone's interested.

http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2012/02/14/hands-on-preview-unit-13-ps-vita/

Hint: it's really good.

Are direct OS capture screens embargoed or would you mind posting some?

Really? I have a friend who does QA for sony and he had to put in many hours on this and said it was one of the most boring games he has played on Vita, he thought it was awful

I'm going to distinguish the fact that you're friend does QA as part of that.

I’ve been thinking if I’m going to call in sick tomorrow but there are meetings that I need to attend. So my plan is to tell my boss that there’s a delivery that I have to sign for that will arrive to my house sometime around 1 (my Amazon deliveries always arrive between 1:30 and 2:00). That should give me enough time with my precious.

This is why working from home and working for yourself is so awesome.

I especially like the press release

"We're thrilled to have Mutant Blobs Attack as one of the first PlayStation®Vita downloadable titles, and for us to have hit our day-one launch goal," said Ryan MacLean, CEO of DrinkBox Studios. "Everyone at DrinkBox Studios is super happy with the end product and we decided to sell it for only $7.99. It's a crazy low price point. Insanely low. I'm insane. HUUAGGGGH Backflip!"

"We're also going to start selling the original About a Blob for $7.99 and a new bundle pack with About a Blob and bunch of DLC for $9.99. I'm crazy for setting these prices, but you'd be crazier for not taking advantage of them. Don't be like me."
Too funny. I might check this game out as well. The original game actually has one of my favorite QL's from Gianbomb too- http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-tales-from-space-about-a-blob/17-3811/

Touting 3G as a cool feature is a bit like advertising built-in WiFi for a laptop. It's old news, and 3G integration into devices isn't a big deal, especially with 4G becoming the new standard.

Also, 3G gaming is kind of a smoke screen. Latency issues are going to reduce it to asynchronous play in most situations.

The bigger issue though isn't that it's misleading, it's that they're pushing the most stupid aspect of the Vita to sell it. "Hey 20 year olds, you're all coveting 4G phones and tablets, but here's a 3G dedicated gaming handheld...that can't really play games or download games over 3g."

Show the games. Put the awesome display front and center. Point out how much it can do that the competition can't. Show some poor fool trying to control an arcadey game on glass, and then show someone playing the Vita with buttons. The competition did 3G years ago. The more I see from Sony, the less confused I am about how they continue to lose so much money and marketshare.

Yes, first and foremost should be the games taking advantage of the myriad of control input. Touch gaming should not be downplayed though. It has its place in modern gaming.

Leaderboard anywhere is not stupid. 3G or WiFi Hotspot gaming is fine too. Sony simply need to package them properly.

Apple advertised old features already deployed by competition all the time. But their experience is superior. And that's what counts.

I received a few games yesterday from Amazon. I knew the boxes were small, but wow.. it still surprised me how small they were!

Now to wait a week for my Vita... :(

Damn, how many people converted to FEB in the last 2 days?

Tempted to convert but my tax return probably won't arrive in time for me to stealthily hide $100 (I have $249.99 to debit from Paypal) from my wife so I'll just wait at this point. If I could easily flip the 4 GB and Little Deviants on ebay that would be another story all together.

I've had the chance to play the Vita a few times. I expected a "wow" moment with the OLED screen... But I have to say, as someone who regularly uses a 4S with its decent LCD, that just didn't happen. It just looks like a screen. No wow factor at all :P

So Asphalt scored higher than Modnation?
As generic as Asphalt looks at least it runs at a good framerate. The god awful performance and lengthy load times of Modnation pretty much ruin the game. It doesn't matter how good the content is when it suffers from those problems.

I've been using a Cowon S9 for years. It has an AMOLED screen.
So I wasn't "wow"ed by it either at first.
But then I turned on my PSP and compared MHFU running on the PSP and on the Vita. Then the wow factor hit me hard.
Though it's died down over the last 4 days or whatever.

I'm coming from a Galaxy S2, which has a Super AMOLED screen. So yeah, the wow factor is gone, but I still very much appreciate the quality of the Vita's screen.

Not many people have posted about this or were too excited about it, but today the Vita card case arrived. After receiving the Club Nintendo DS/3DS case, I figured it would be a good idea to get one for the Vita as well.

It's great if you tend to carry around a lot of games in a bag or backpack. This way you only need to bring one case and keep the original boxes nice and unscratched.

Everything is so damn tiny. -___-

I bought it, then realized that the FEB case has slots to hold games. :/ I guess this will hold the extras.

Amazon has started listing Vita games in their Trade-In Store:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref...10556011&bbn=979418011&ie=UTF8&qid=1329240004

Sadly, Little Deviants isn't one of em yet. I'm hoping to get 'some' value back out of Little Deviants and the 4GB card (I got a 32GB).

I think they know that quit a few people will be trading the game in as soon as its available.

Also, shouldn't 4GB be plenty of memory for someone who only wants to install games from the cart and have saves on there? As well as SSD and Escape Plan?

I'm kind of annoyed that the 3DS is just starting to get some of the games I was interested in now. I mean, I would have definitely picked up Tales of the Abyss (haven't played it since 2005) if it were released last year, but in the middle of the Vita launch it's hard to care (as the port doesn't look all that good anyways). Same deal with MGS3. It looks like a weak port too, but I may have actually be interested if it were released during the 3DS software drought. I'm just surprised that it's taken a year to release ports of old PS2 software. :\

The excitement for Vita will probably drown out the 3DS for a while, though, so I need to try and finish up RE: Revelations tonight.

Well, yeah, the iPhone screen is already really great.

The benefit of the Vita screen will show itself to you in the dark, however, as OLED produces an infinitely superior black level to any LCD. A dark image on an iPhone will appear slightly gray in the darker areas while an OLED will display a perfect (near perfect, anyways) black.

A lot of OLED screens used in phones use a Pentile matrix as well while the Vita does not so users of such phones should also see an improvement in clarity. It IS, however, a massive step up from the dated 3DS screens.

I wonder what the ideal ghetto carrying solution will be.

I used to use an empty Altoids Chewing Gum tin case which would hold 8 DS games absolutely perfectly. There is probably some type of thing you wouldn't imagine being a games case being totally ideal for the really tiny Vita cards.

Thankfully I got my FEB case so I don't have to worry about it.

Went to gamestop and did the Trade, Got 60 dollars in store credit so i put that down for the vita.

Im paying it off this friday (50 dollars left) then i have to decide on game. Its either going to be uncharted or wipeout i know that much.

Only a little correction to the OP, the image for Michael Jackson The Experience is not from the vita version.
These shots are from the vita version

Concerning Fifa Soccer, do we know if:

1. Will it be possible to disable all touch controls (playing as it is in the home console version)?

2. Playing online, will it be possibile to play agains people with our configuration? I mean that not using touch controls I don't want to play against guys that use them.

1. Heard that you don't have to use them.

2. Why wouldn't you want to play against someone who uses their own preferred method to play? That's like saying "I don't want to play against people who use Triangle to shoot".

Keep in mind you guys, you can trade in Little Deviants after your finished playing it or right away for $25 towards the purchase of hardware or most new game releases at gamestop. If any game you trade in has an $8 value you can bump it up to $25

I don't know why everyone is complaining about the 3G marketing push in those ads.

The 3G talk appeals to the 90% of those who are technologically illiterate, but understand that '3G' denotes online connectivity anywhere, all the time... which has never been achieved by any gaming dedicated console ever. Who cares if it' s only real capability is to connect to leaderboards and other passive functionality?

Those who are interested in having their gaming console function with 4G connectivity will be playing games on their smartphones anyway.
