Now i just gotta get Marvel 3 & my 32gb card.
And one of these vita handhelds...
The thing that wows me about display tech right now is how utterly shitty basically all TVs, PC monitors and laptop displays (especially those) are compared to the Vita or high-end smartphones.
Was just in Future Shop. They had all the games on te shelf. Even ones dated for the 15th b
Yeah, I was trying to stay on the fence but the reviews are pushing me over. If Ubisoft somehow decides to be pro-consumer for once and sells on PSN at the discounted price, I'll buy it when it goes up.
Futureshop told me they're selling games now and the console tomorrow.
Bestbuy told me they're selling the console tomorrow and the games next week.
What the hell is going on?
I absolutely love Lumines. But all Ubisoft games drop price pretty quickly. I just can't bring myself to pick it or Rayman up day one.
That's certainly true I'm sure. To be clear, I'm not shitting on the PSV, I'm excited about it, I'm buying one without doubt, and for it's price, I think it's a very impressive piece of hardware. I just wasn't blown away by the screen. That's probably a mixture of a few things, having seen great small screens before (when I saw the iPhone 4, I hadn't), and the obscene amount of hype about it.Yeah, I guess I didn't really have a wow moment in comparison to the screen of my iPhone 4S either... but when I turned on my PSP and 3DS for comparison, that's when the wow kicked in.
Yep. If you separate yourself from the day one hype it's easy to recognize that these games will probably plummet in price soon. I love Lumines, I bought the first one as soon as it hit the PSP, but there is no way I'm paying $40 for the Vita version when it is almost guaranteed to be at least $15-$20 cheaper within a few weeks. I'd also love Rayman on the Vita even though I own the PS3 version, but the story is the same with that game.I absolutely love Lumines. But all Ubisoft games drop price pretty quickly. I just can't bring myself to pick it or Rayman up day one.
Which is funny, I remember thinking how amazing the PSP's screen was when I got it.I think it's a much needed upgrade though, the 3DS and PSP screens are both awful.
Additionally, there might be some interesting games down the line that require GPS and you would never able to play it :-o
The first time I picked up a PSP I was absolutely amazed. It was incredible for its time!Which is funny, I remember thinking how amazing the PSP's screen was when I got it.
Wow, was that really almost 7 years ago?
The PSP screen really was amazing when it was released, I remember it wowing even non-gamers. There were very few comparable CE devices out there. How time flies!Which is funny, I remember thinking how amazing the PSP's screen was when I got it.

As generic as Asphalt looks at least it runs at a good framerate. The god awful performance and lengthy load times of Modnation pretty much ruin the game. It doesn't matter how good the content is when it suffers from those problems.
For gaming, it's not nicer at all.I think the iPhone screen is much nicer personally. I too had no 'wow' moment seeing the PSV. It's not even glass.
Is there a list of games somewhere that support that? Skyrim?
Which is funny, I remember thinking how amazing the PSP's screen was when I got it.

Sony's made some stupid decisions the past 5-6 years, but they're not dumb enough to fragment their gamers to that degree.
What are the response times? For gaming, it's not nicer at all.
OLED is faster and has a much better contrast ratio. The resolution is nearly the same, but the larger Vita screen has a lower pixel density as a result.
I absolutely love Lumines. But all Ubisoft games drop price pretty quickly. I just can't bring myself to pick it or Rayman up day one.
I can not believe how frustrating it is to hear that Modnation devs have failed twice on this. (bad framerate and load times) It's a frikkin racer! Those two things should be priority number one and two on your list. The frustrating part is that I really think they have a really awesome idea of custom tracks, cars and racers.
If they don't learn this by the time Little Big Racer comes out....
What are the response times?
The game is straightforward and has no online play. Play for a week, sell, buy Lumines.
OLED response times are generally below 0.01 ms. Instant, for all intents and purposes. What are the response times?
What is it for the iPhone?OLED response times are generally below 0.1 ms. Instant, for all intents and purposes.

I don't know the exact values, but no LCD technology, particularly not IPS, gets below 10 ms for at least some color transitions. So it's a factor 1000 difference. (Not that this means much, anything below 1 ms would be fine)What is it for the iPhone?

oh boy
/looks at all the years of ad-hoc party he missed out on because he bought a 20gig launch ps3 instead of a 60gig
Also FF Type 0 only has multiplayer on 2000/3000/Go models. 1000 can't do multi
It's rare, but it does happen where you get screwed for not having bought the right iteration of the system.
I don't see your point at all. I didn't say the iPhone screen was unsurpassed.
Is this thread really this childish that anything that isn't sucking off the PSV is irrationally deconstructed? Maybe I'll just avoid it for a few months till the rational people surface.
How many games were unplayable because you bought the "wrong" PS3? Any game that comes out on the Vita that requires 3G or the GPS to work is going to fail and fail hard, which is why I don't think anyone will be stupid enough to do it. Except maybe an app or a really cheap downloadable title, but if that's what you want you have so many better options on smartphones.

So we're talking about a 9ms advantage? It's nice to have that, but every 30fps game has a theoretical pipeline limit of 33ms anyway, then factoring in input lag too, I don't think it'd make some huge difference to my play experience. I've never felt an iPhone didn't have a crisp response personally.I don't know the exact values, but no LCD technology, particularly not IPS, gets below 10 ms for at least some color transitions. It almost doesn't matter what the exact number is as it is much slower than OLED. LCD screens are slower across the board, that's all there is to it.What is it for the iPhone?
The mistake you're making here is the assumption that this has anything to do with Vita. We're arguing about display tech. OLED >>>>>>>>> LCDIs this thread really this childish that anything that isn't sucking off the PSV is irrationally deconstructed? Wi-Fi does have triangulation.
Anyways, all three companies pretty much did it with the motion controls. Motion+, Kinect, and Move.

It DOES require people with a Vita to be nearby, yes? Cuz I have a feeling I'm not going to run into anyone else with one. :\I'm pretty excited to use near for the first time tomorrow.
I added a part about response time compensation (RTC). Beyond input lag, that can also result in reverse ghosting, which I hate with the fury of a thousand suns.So we're talking about a 9ms advantage? It's nice to have that, but every 30fps game has a theoretical pipeline limit of 33ms anyway, then factoring in input lag too, I don't think it'd make some huge difference to my play experience. This is what I'm talking about. All hail our new OLED overlords, and give me that 120Hz OLED monitor already. It almost doesn't matter what the exact number is as it is much slower than OLED. LCD screens are slower across the board, that's all there is to it.
OLED can display near perfect black, unlike all LCDs.
OLED technology is flat out better than LCD across the board which is precisely why so many of us are excited about TVs using such panels. I've been hanging onto my Kuro for years waiting for a suitable replacement and OLED might be the only thing that can deliver. LCDs simply don't compare.
The iPhone screen looks great in most cases due to its high pixel density (as a result of its smaller size). In motion, however, there is still plenty of blurring that is absent on an OLED screen.
The mistake you're making here is the assumption that this has anything to do with Vita. We're arguing about display tech. OLED >>>>>>>>> LCD
Just because you don't notice or don't care about those differences doesn't mean they don't exist. LCDs STILL suffer from awful ghosting and smearing. It's been reduced significantly but it's still there. Go back to a CRT and you'll remember what motion USED to look like. OLED is much closer to plasma and even CRT than LCD in that regard. Even 30 fps stuff benefits from this.
The super high contrast ratio is even more important to me as LCDs just can't handle dark material well.
Now it kinda looks like Sony was smart by going ahead with LBP Karting and hopefully MM makes it. I trust those guys to get the basics right
Really? The mistake you're making here is the assumption that this has anything to do with Vita.
Is that a popular argument in the display tech world?Surely, there are games that either are out, or will be out for the Vita that you'd want to play. End of story.
