So, awesome!

that wallpaper....gimmie :P

How easy do you guys think this will be to find next week? my brother is making a trip to NY and I'm asking him to pick up one for me. He will not have time to browse many stores, though.

Really not much advertising (unless they somehow ramp it up in the next couple of days), I would find it hard to believe that you wouldn't be able to find one next week somewhere.

Can you get rid of the No Signal?

I would almost advise leaving it on to show it. It doesn't do anything for it to show that it's there and it looks better than the no signal. Basically it's there even if you don't have a plan. No problem there.

Can't say I can really detect much of a color shift. The viewing angles are pretty damned good.

Absolutely. I'm looking it at about a 45' angle and the colors are still pretty damn good. A little loss in color vibrancy but still pretty damn good. I go lower too with more steeper angles and it holds up very well.

For those of you with the 8 GB card how many games have you managed to fit on it? Never really had much of a problem on PSP but the Vita files must be considerably larger on average no?

Trying to decide on the following setups...

Wifi
Cradle
32gb
Lumines
HSG
WipEout
SSD
Escape Plan

$480

Wifi
Cradle
32gb
Lumines
HSG
WipEout
Rayman
Uncharted
Fifa

$530

Which one GAF?!? Which ONE?

Think I might be in the minority here but I've no intention of putting a screen protector on mine. Ugh!! I like my kit all bare and as intended. I've owned plenty of phones, got an iPad, touch pad etc all without protectors and can honestly say I've never got a single scratch on anything. You have to be a bit reckless with your kit to get scratches on it imo.

Just wondered if there's any other gaffer that's like me?

I think that would be a good number 3.
I haven't tried taking out the SIM though.. (vita is currently backing up to my computer)

Here's a grab of the save icon from the file system.

Having you tried unchecking mobile signal from settings/network/mobile settings?

Also, seems weird about the viewing angles for you. Any OLED screen I've used has had the best viewing angles of any screen I've used including IPS from all three tablets I've owned.

I have 2 PSP games, MJ The Experience, Rayman, and an album of music and have 25/29GB left. I wish it was closer to the 32GB it is advertised for but oh well.

Picked up the screen protector, case, & the 32gb memory card tonight. Can't wait for next week. Now to decide what games to get on Saturday (probably Uncharted and one other).

Really dissapointed with the 3DS, until mario kart & Mario 3D land came out, it was pretty much not used.

Also, looking forward for mlb 12 the show comes out on the PS3 and Vita, able to play your season (franchise as well I think) on both systems is going to be great.

Where is my heart is seriously MIA here...it's the best mini you can buy, and yet I can't play it :(

Most of those games work, but they need to be downloaded on a PS3 and transferred over via USB.

I'm slightly bummed by that, as I was hoping to be able to transfer LBP and Valkyria 2 myself, but I can't, as my ps3 is dead. Really hoping the unofficial list becomes part of the official list soon enough.

Double edit: NM, usb charging is working, apparently, it just doesn't make the PS button turn orange like the AC charge does.

Removing the SIM just makes it say No SIM.

You're saying you should leave the 3G on so that it always says ATT?

Absolutely. I'm looking it at about a 45' angle and the colors are still pretty damn good. A little loss in color vibrancy but still pretty damn good. I go lower too with more steeper angles and it holds up very well

My system must be borked then. (i don't think it is)
Slight shift anywhere and color goes off. Look at the whites. They're naturally warm (slightly yellow tint) but go very cold (towards blue) when tilted.
Perhaps I'm just sensitive to it. Always have been, that's why I bought an IPS display.

Well this sucks.

After I bought lumines and rayman, it won't let me buy anything else on PSN.

I tried to buy SSD and Escape Plan, and even trying to add funds to the Wallet.

I get the error
80023102 on my ps3
and NP-2244-2 on the vita

Credit card is fine (checked with the bank)
Sent an email to PSN support...

So much for going all digital.

I get amazingly annoyed if there's even the lightest, barely noticeable scratch on any of my devices (smartphones, my psp, ds, computer monitor, my tv, etc). My eyesight isnt 20/20, but for some reason, I get eagle vision as soon as I notice a scratch, and it'll drive me crazy.

With that being said, I sometimes put protectors on, sometimes I don't. For the Vita, I probably will though.

Some loose notes:

* Multi-tasking
You can run apps in parallel (e.g., play music and game at the same time, use the Settings app and the game at the same time) with the following exceptions:
+ Web browser and game can't run at the same time
+ Video and game can't run at the same time
[Yes, I know Sony will have a multi-tasking patch later]

* RemotePlay
It seems that if you RemotePlay to your PS3 via "Private Network", all the active multi-tasked apps on Vita will also switch to use the same "Private Network". This may cause your Vita Internet access to fail temporarily since the PS3 doesn't route packets to the Internet. Closing the RemotePlay app should return Vita and all its apps to use the regular WiFi/3G connection.

* Video Playback
You can transfer and watch rented SD video between PS3 and Vita (Well, you can also download the rented SD video straight from PSN Store).

How do you change the region of your PSV? Aka, access the JP PSN store.

Oh good question! I want to know if anyone has managed to download any JP games to their US bought Vitas. I know its possible, just wanted to know if anyone has done it yet.

Web browser will work if a game is running if you access it via the Twitter app.

3G bundle pre-ordered!! Here we go! Gonna go all digital with this thing. 8 GB will be good enough for now when combined with PC and PS3, but whenever there is a deal for that 32 I will probably go for it.

Hot Shots Golf doesn't seem like it's native resolution. :(

Doesn't look too bad, but not nearly as good as I would have hoped. The interface is annoyingly blurry thanks to the scaling.

The suggestion I gave about seeing if it connects to an unsecured router is just to see if your Vita can even connect, not suggesting it as an actual solution, more like a troubleshooting step.

Try changing your wireless password. I've usually found that wireless devices can just be amazingly picky as to what the stupid password is on the router.

Even with no password it won't connect, something even the finnicky fire would do.
Fucking awesome, really.

In regards to screen protectors: I got a Hori pre-order, but if it doesn't ship by, I dunno, Sunday, I'm going to check Fry's on Wednesday then take my chances if it's not there. Really dumb they didn't get the screen protectors out ahead of time. Similar goes for the case, but it's not as critical to have that before use as the Screen protector.

Oh im the same. But you know I think it's a mix between a bit of luck and just taking care of my kit. When I was younger I used to be initially careful with any new gadget then after a while kind of forget. These days my phone is always in a pocket on its own, when not in use it's put out of reach of the kids. Last year I sold my 3GS I'd had since launch and it was like new. I was really pleased with myself! Lol

As for the vita it will be going straight back in its case once I'm finished with a session.

That reminds me, 1 week to go for us poor Brits. Arrrghhh I said I was going to avoid this thread from today but it's been great and frustrating to see everyone's pics and to read there impressions. Really can't wait!

Definitely not native res, which is a shame because (1) it's essentially a Sony game and (2) it would have been a great showcase for the system graphically. Instead it's blurry enough that you might confuse it for a PSP game. Plays well though.

So after 6 days with the Vita, the "oooo shiny new thing" phase has passed for me.
There are a few small problems that really bother me and it's just... I don't know. The games I really want aren't coming anytime soon, if at all. And I'm just here with this thing that doesn't behave the way I want it to.

I don't want to sound down on it, because I'm still excited for what games may come. But it's just... I really wish this thing worked better in some other areas.

Can Japanese PSP titles be downloaded from the Jpn PS Store? Also any rumblings about a YouTube app in the works?

Played Wipeout 2048 on a demo unit a week and a half ago and loved it, the system looks and feels like butter. Shame I probably won't be able to get one for awhile.
