Oh Inter, how I missed you.

"Can you win? Or at school I'll get fooled! Thanks, Filippo"

Well Filippo, you chose it, not their fault.

Actually I'm in a bad mood, I can't even enjoy the match, I feel bad for Inter :|

I've said this before but as an Arsenal fan, I think we played our best football in the first game of the season (away to Newcastle). In fact I remember others here commenting that, despite not having Nasri and Fabregas available, we still played the same football just as well.

I haven't seen that performance replicated in a single half of a game since then. I remember watching the Liverpool game (at home) thinking to myself, "Wow, this is really bad". It was only a driving low shot by DENCH and a thrusting run into the heart of the Liverpool defence by Nasri that stood out in the entire game for us and at that point I couldn't recall a worse performance in recent memory. Usually our bad days consist of creating a lack of chances but we always managed to display technique, speed and comfort in our possession play but that wasn't on offer.

One thing I've consistently noticed in our games as of late is the lack of movement in the midfield, a lack of link-up-play. Despite his transfer policy of the years, Arsene Wenger has always instilled the same brand of football into his side; and he was proud of it. Therefore I can't accept the idea that he doesn't see there to be a problem within the cohesion of the side; this midfield is a greater worry to me than the defence. The only logical explanation is that there isn't the money in the bank to do what must be done.

I can't put the blame on the sales of Cesc and Nasri because we've played much better in the past when they haven't been in the squad.

Fuck Ibra and RVP is too good for AC Milan...

Arsenal should use RVP has a bargaining chip to get Higuain from Real Madrid. I weould love this to happen.

The thing about Ibra, the thing you really have to remember about Ibra is he is a complete cunt. Once you have got that squared, everything he says makes perfect sense.

What do you think is missing? I know Cesc was the glue of our side but replacing him is going to be really difficult.

Are you able to name the midfield/attack players who you think we need to get rid off and who you think we should attempt to bring in to replace them with?

I've said in the past that I really want Mario Gotze controlling our midfield.

Wenger won't buy Gotze. He's too expensive for him to sign.

You guys should've bought Sahin ahead of Madrid, would've helped out your midfield a lot. Maybe next year when he's in form you guys will make a bid?

Why is that (old) gif of Zlatan appearing everywhere suddenly? My friend posted it on Facebook with the exact same description of "soccer troll."

Do they get full pay, sick pay, or injury leave or something?

They will get something.

Ibra: RVP should leave

Fresh from leading the line in AC Milan's midweek thrashing of Arsenal, striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has suggested Robin van Persie should leave the Gunners in order to chase silverware

rvp to milan?

RVP will walk a well trodden path. It's going to be glorious.

If things stay the way are currently on European level this season so far, this would be the UEFA ranking for each country starting next year:

I mean.... behing Bulgaria. How can Glasgow teams be so zero-ish.

The big game today is the early kick-off; clash of the blues - and I'm apprehensive.

Non Chelsea fans (because I think my fellows are asleep) - what would you do to turn the season around? Me and Fady have waxed lyrical on these boards about who we'd get rid of, who we'd keep and who we want - but I'd be interested to see what you guys think - the Telegraph thinks Lampard, Malouda and Drogba are in line to go at the end of the season - I wouldn't miss them.

Cech

Bosingwa - Luiz - Cahill - Bertrand

Essien - Romeu

Kalou Sturridge Mata

Torres

I live in hope...

That looks, at least, like a midfield that will be able to attack without seeming like honey dripping from a spoon. Giving Torres the ball in non standing-start situations is so damn critical.

Just stop indulging players who are past-it. Players like Torres, Lampard, Terry, Bosingwa, Malouda, etc shouldn't start another game this season but they will. Next season start bedding in younger players. If I were AVB I would be looking to play this XI as soon as possible:

Courtouis
Ivanovic Luiz Cahill Bertrand
Romeu Ramires
Sturridge Mata De Bruyne
Lukaku/Torres

It's a waste of time buying these players if they can't get a game despite their competition being in dreadful form. Younger players can learn AVB's style and implement it a lot better than the old dogs who play for Chelsea at the moment. Give Torres one last chance with Mata threading the ball through for him and if he still can't score, sell him and use Lukaku up front. Obviously no big changes will happen before the summer, the XI of Mourinho relics will trudge on for a few more months.

I hope they've sorted their god damn pitch out. Last week it looked a mess.

It's a complete mess, and back to back home games isn't going to help it. The club has pretty much said that there isn't much they can do and are going to have to wait till the summer to relay it.

It's certainly not ideal, and our own players have said how shit it is but that's the pitch the game has to be played on.

Agreed - I think the guy still has class, you don't lose it overnight, but by playing our main creative force out wide limits both of their effectiveness.

Courtouis
Ivanovic Luiz Cahill Bertrand
Romeu Ramires
Sturridge Mata De Bruyne
Lukaku/Torres

I'm a big fan of this - Malouda, Essien (as much as I love him) Lampard, Cole, Terry, Drogba, Ferreira, Mikel - we could get a 'decent' amount of money for these guys - obviously nothing near what we paid but a decent recoup at least to invest into the squad.

The formation you propose is the one I see being adopted more widely - Spurs and City already play it, with two 'holding' playing allowing 4 to attack. And as poor as we have been this season an attack force of Torres, Sturridge, Mata and De Druyne could cause problems to a lot of teams.

But, as you say, I expect to see 'Mourinho's Team' until the end of the season.

I agree with what you said , but Luiz and Cahill as CB's is a disaster waiting to happen.

It can't be any worse than pairing them with Terry. They only have 3 senior CBs so there isn't much to choose from. It's an area that still requires massive improvement even with Cahill signed.

Good on Warnock. He was harshly done by QPR.

Maybe not this season, but soon we will have Leeds back in the Premier League!

Well given a choice between Ivanovic, Terry, Luiz and Cahill (baring in mind playing Brana at CB means playing Bosingwa)...

Wonder if Sam Hutchinson will ever make it back to the first team squad again - It was great to see him back after his forced retirement.

They would definitely need to spend major bucks and buy a world class CB who can partner Cahill. I will never trust Luiz as a CB he looses concentration too often to ever be considered world class and Cahill i believe will quite competent with a partner alongside him.

'World Class' is something I struggle with when it comes to Centre halves - Vidic is someone I would consider world class, but I don't think he was when he came to the league. I think the premiership demands a lot, especially from defenders, and those CB's out there who might be considered world class may struggle to adapt.

We can only hope.

Only MUFC action is an Under 18 game against City.

Chelsea had better be interesting.

We'll try our best for you

You and everybody with half a brain would play that line up. But we all know AVB is gonna spice things up with appearances from Bos, Flo Mo, Mikel and even the very rare cheeky Kalou sub.

He's been selected and on the bench has he not?

Edit: He was definitely a named sub in the last Sunderland game. I remember that much.

You know what, that makes me wonder that when us untrained people can see clearly that a certain player is just not gelling with the way the team plays or is just playing shit, why cant the manager or the staff around him notice the same.

Or is it a case of politics within the team that forces the manager to play certain player. I am just speaking generally and not specifically about Chelsea.

A new Vieira.

Selling Vieira when he did was Arsene's biggest mistake.

selling vieira was not the issue since he wanted to leave anyway.

The mistake was the fool did not replace him immediately.

In other news yaya toure tells carlos to apologise to mancini and the rest of players. Does anyone really believe that even if carlos does apologise he is sincere about it?

City does not need him. He abandoned them and now when things are starting to look good for them he decides to jet back from argentina

Chelsea better beat them.

Now that we are gone Chelsea need to progress. No EPL sides in the quarter finals of the CL would be a disgrace, imo.

I still hope Arsenal put up a very big fight at the Emirates. As for Chelsea, with all the disharmony that is supposedly going down at the club in this period, they will have a hard time fighting back a well-spirited Napoli side who is excellent at converting their chances.

It's possible! You never know which Napoli is going to show up agaisnt Chelsea.

True, but it also depends on which Chelsea will show up against Napoli :'(

I wouldn't count on that : [ Even if Chelsea win this, the game will be quite dire. Just look at their last FA game, against QPR. Quite boring even for the biggest Chelsea fans.
