How the fuck does Kakeru, a forward, keep running back to his own goalpost? This shit is stupid.
And I still don't understand how SC scored the first goal. It's impossible for the dude to start running, position himself and shoot without Kakeru noticing or the goalie readying himself.
Yeah, I don't understand why she's got adult-level hair as there's no way a 3 year old can grow hair that fast. Oh well, animu gonnna animu
Oh I will be so pissed if that ever happens. Buuuuut, they haven't done it in the 9 volumes of the LN that are currently out so it may be safe to assume it won't. (I think the anime will only cover the first 2 volumes of the LN)
Is it following the novels closely? Because the episode 7 preview
definitely has a shot of the mom standing in the dark. At least, it looks like her, but it only shows from the neck down... Though It could just be a flash back or something too.

I've read the first volume of the LN (The only one that's translated) and it was following the anime really closely, but I think the anime is now in the second volume so I can't say for 100% sure. I only heard about the
mom+dad return
not happening from some LN reader on a different forum (who can read japanese, and says he's read all the volumes available)
I haven't seen the ep. 7 preview but i'm pretty sure it won't happen. And hopefully not!
Edit:
Apparently I didn't finish the entire translation of volume 1, as I just checked and it's got more chapters. But yeah, I don't see anything about the return of the mom+dad
Now for the first stage of my endurance run, the Arjuna/School Days/Blood-C tri-marathon. Apparently I already watched Arjuna 01 a few weeks ago and posted impressions in the last anime thread, but I'll just re-post here since I have this whole theme going.
Arjuna 01:
Madness begins innocently enough, though there was already a healthy dose of heavy-handed environmentalism and shit was certainly getting weird by the end of the episode.
I am not trusting Chris for a moment.
Intentionally kill Juna with a magical rainbow aura thing just to revive her as the Avatar of Time? Offer her life back when it's established in the opening nature slideshow that human lives don't mean shit to the planet? Belonging to an organization that employs sinful modern technology and employing that tech to sustain his life? Fuckin' suspicious, man.
Moreso than the environmental themes, the sheer garishness of everything is already screaming amazing trainwreck to me. Horrid CG, surfaces and backgrounds that don't quite feel like they're on the same planes as the characters, use of actual photographs, hideous character design for Chris and his loli cohort, Juna's clothing magically becoming fanservice-tastic after she
revives
, freakish
glowing magatama womb transformation sequence
and her subsequent
neon alien-fish-rodent-WHATTHEFUCKISTHIS form
. Everything after the first few minutes was an assault on the eyes.
Of the three shows I'm watching, this one feels like it has the potential to inflict the most suffering on me.
School Days 01:
I hate the character designs, I hate this genre, Sekai's voice is annoying, Kotonoha is a horribly boring character, and really, knowing what happens is the only thing compelling me to watch this. I'll watch a bad anime far more willingly than I'll watch a boring one.
Oh, and dat twist at the ending.
The seeds of disaster were planted earlier than I'd expected. Excellent, excellent.
Blood-C 01:
Kyouuuuuu wa ii tenkiiiiiiiiiii♫
Saya is HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG. I mean absolutely, astronomically, thermonuclear weapons-grade HNNNNNNNG. The singing alone exploded my heart. I know that I'm
probably setting myself up for something horrible by getting attached to her
, but I can't help it.
The fact that half of the OP is dedicated to showcasing her clumsiness does not inspire confidence. I actually enjoyed the fight scene in this episode and thought it had fairly good animation, but there's no way that her tendency to fall flat on her face doesn't rear its head at the worst possible moment.
And what the hell kind of seifuku has a chain-fob-thing around the collar? It looks like a halloween costume from Hot Topic.
Oh man. Ohhhhhhhhhh man. If episode two is like this, I can't begin to comprehend how fucked my brain is going to be by the end.
Terrible CG like something out of the mid-90s. Kawamori effortlessly turning the conversation between Teresa and Dojima into a personal screed against nuclear power spoken through them. Chris
parachuting out of a helicopter in a wheelchair just to bitchslap Juna
. (I think I need a gif of that.) And, as for the rest of the episode:
Chris:
defeat the Raaja and save Earth, Juna!
Juna:
*materializes spirit bow and attacks Raaja to no avail*
Chris:
You thought I meant to literally ATTACK the Raaja? Apparently your tiny mind is too literal to comprehend the true meaning of words.
Juna:
Oh okay. I'll play hide-and-seek with the Raaja.
Wait--I'm having a flashback to some advice I learned in archery club. I guess I'll shoot the Raaja with the spirit bow anyway. Hey, it worked!
Chris:
You're a total failure and you suck. Go cleanse yourself of your filth, filthy filth-human.
School Days 02:
So much awkwardness.
I can't tell if Sekai
is intentionally giving Kotonoha bad advice in order to wreck her relationship and give her an opportunity to move in on Makoto, but things went well for Makoto and Kotonoha at the end of the episode
so this probably isn't the case.
Blood-C 02:
So sloooooooooooooow. This was pretty much Episode 1 all over again, except with a
boring tentacle fight
.
Saya still incredibly HNNNNNNNNNNNNG. Something actually needs to happen, though.
I watched most of the series when it aired, and thought it was good but not great. Given the nature of the show though (about soul reapers, dead people, etc) it gets pretty depressing at times, but it was at least okay. The main character, the girl in the center of those pics, is a good character too. The stories get even more depressing late in the series, to the point where I stopped watching at some point, but I didn't dislike it I don't think.
It's certainly not anywhere near the same class as Haibane Renmei, but very little is, so that's not saying much. It's an okay tragedy series.
It's always amusing when a show manages to anticipate my thoughts about it.
Overall I liked the alternate universe stories, flimsy as they were. This show can get stuck in the club room, so it's nice to have a totally different setting for once.
Bodacious Space Pirates 7
Omigawa and tsundere Hanazawa is a nice combination. I'm enjoying the music in the show too. Hopefully this cliffhanger doesn't lead to a big focus on this child character. Crunchy's translation for this episode was a bit of a mess.
Really, an amazing episode with, for me anyway, such a satisfying conclusion. I enjoyed how they
basically got all the pent up frustration out in the first half of the episode, in a fight that ultimately subverted the expected outcome of the Kaiki confrontation
. That in itself was a neat twist, but how they then deal with
Kaiki himself and the whole idea of fronts, facades, and frauds
was just spectacular.
I mean, I don't even know what I can say about the directing, since there were probably 10 edits/cuts a minute at times... all I know is that the script was fantastic.
(Which leads me to again feel that I'd be perfectly happy if these were all drama CDs, but that's a whole different discussion)

That was one of my favorite ones, Tsubaki was so cool.
They managed to find a way to make a story that's even more boring than Ai's loneliness. Now it's just a
"we should do something to break up our routine before our relationship gets stale"
story. Blerp.
I suppose at least there was the requisite service, for those so inclined:
Seems like by going in reverse order, they pretty much got the two best stories out of the way. Here's hoping Haruka's arc will at least have an interesting complication, but I can't imagine Sae's arc being anything but bland too (unless the hot blooded narrator makes his return).
