There are brown colored user faces that are unselectable. Those represent 10 users.

Oh, wow, thanks for the info. I had no idea. I take it most of them are unselectable because maybe they haven't even gone into near to have the opportunity to turn the stuff on? I mean, I understand some people not wanting to show their info, but not 95% of them.

Hang in there ! ^_^

But patience is so hard ><

For some reason, the volume control doesn't turn down all applications (universal sound control). Specifically the Camera app... turn the sound all the down and CLICK ... picture sounds. It's so ungodly loud too. Wth?

Yeah... I found that out the hard way.
I turned the volume all the way down to avoid problems and took it to church... where I thought it would be a great way to pass the time by taking pictures of random things and people - until the super loud *snap* sound from the camera had everyone around me turn towards me. So embarrassing...

On that note, it's probably best to bring along a paper ad if you can. It's one thing if they're going by your word of mouth, it's another when you have an ad they printed clearly stating the 19th is the first day.

Exactly, and this was an argument they couldn't just BS their way out of, and why the ultimately honored the deal for me in the end. Sure, they probably wanted to just get me out of the store, and have me shut up, but they wouldn't have caved on it, if they didn't think I had a valid claim either. There is no where in the ad that says the promotion starts on Wednesday, and they already had the games on the shelf. There was no good excuse for them not to honor it.

Lol. I remember the early digital cameras didn't enforce the click. People ran into problems with perverts taking pictures quietly. It was later agreed to have an audible click for all digital cameras.

Edit:

it plays the sound from the speaker even if you have headphones in... how am i spose to sneak pics with this? :(

Exactly the point ! That click cannot/must not be muted.

2 days (and 3 nights) until Vita.

A small account switch recap:

You only need one card.
You have to be connected online (wifi or 3G) or connected to a PS3.
You have to make a factory reset but ask for NOT format memory stick.
You don't need to re-download the games when you switch accounts.
Games has to be played in the account that you downloaded them.

Is all correct?

is it really that simple? i thought it was near impossible from what u heard before?

At least you have a Vita, broken shoulder button and all...

This 3 days is killing me!!
The wait is doing strange things to me. I get cranky, I have the strange need to nap all the time, and just a general feeling of malaise. Of course, it doesn't help that I'm feeling anxious waiting for my tax refund to arrive, which was how I was planning on paying for the Vita in the first place. Actually, that's probably what's doing it to me. (I tend to worry about things too much.)

Poor me! This Vita lied to me. It was all like "LOVE ME" for a week and was like great. Then out of nowhere it's like "MY SHOULDER IS BROKEN". What a jerk. My This Vita is a jerk.

:(

Would you mind posting a pic of the back of your case/system? I'm thinking this might be the solution to my paranoia about the back touch screen getting scratches.

Sure, give me a bit.

Any news on the release date for Stranger's Wrath on Vita? It's probably been mentioned in this thread but... 300 pages. I know they had cloud saving between both PSN and Vita version planned. Hope it makes it.

I went to the Joystiq website and found the latest podcast and clicked on the direct feed link from the Vita web browser. It downloaded to my Vita music folder.

Then you go to the music app and play it.

I didnt know you could download mp3s right on the vita... can you do that with videos?

Lol. I remember the early digital cameras didn't enforce the click. People ran into problems with perverts taking pictures quietly. It was later agreed to have an audible click for all digital cameras.

I never even thought about that...
But now that you mention it, I think there were news articles about people sneaking pictures under skirts a while back.

:(

Sure, give me a bit.

That... is the greatest thing I have ever seen.

I would have to say this is the best handheld gaming device I've ever used. Period. In terms of hardware and the OS, it's without peer. If the pricing on games is right, and there's a steady stream of big Uncharted-esque titles, mid tier games, and smaller titles, this could be a titanic money sink for me.

Sony got a lot right with the PSP, in many ways it was the ultimate 2D handheld system, the Vita seems like the ultimate 3D system.

Nope, that'd be this motherfucker here and it's associated re-designs:

I do have to say though, you're spot on with the vita being the ultimate 3D handheld, from everything I've seen.

Adds a few mm of shell between the screen and the resting surface which is nice. Sorry about the noise; lighting is bad here at night.

All ports (aside from the SIM card slot (?)) are accessible with the shell on. It's a tad loose at the top around the camera but I suppose it's needed to even get the Vita into the shell; it feels very tight and sturdy everywhere else.

Can anyone speak to the Vita's d-pad when playing fighting games? That's not really my genre, but those games are definitely a good litmus test for the quality of any d-pad. The few rumblings I've heard so far have been positive, but I was wondering if anyone has had anymore hands on with it. I guess Blazblue would be the only fighting game.

One more question before I head off for bed. Up by my signals for wifi and 3g, theres an icon that keeps flashing/making a circle. Anyone know what that is?

The D-Pad is great for UMvC3. I can pull off all the motions just fine after about 20 minutes with it.

The buttons, on the other hand, are a different matter. Specifically, trying to hold Square for Vergil's Round Trip or Zero's Buster, while pressing Triangle and Circle is much more difficult than just doing it on an arcade stick. Trying to hit both Square and Circle after a combo with Taskmaster to finish with angled Legion Arrows is even more difficult, with how small the buttons are. I'm no fighting game expert but these are moves I can easily do on an arcade stick, and will take time figuring out and getting used to on the Vita.

It's the Hori TPU Protector Cover.

Thanks for the pic AND info! Now I just need to decide what color I want.

I can do all the missions for my main characters in UMVC as well as execute all my bread and butter combos,it's fantastic.

I ordered a red one because of you. I hope the red looks okay on the black. It was partially just a way of getting a different coloured Vita because black is so boring :p

I'm far from the best in the world at fighting games, but playing Blazblue on it felt fine. It's different from playing it on a PS3 d-pad, definitely, but nothing you can't get used to. The only thing I couldn't do consistently was half-circle back, forward, and instead had to use the stick to hit those.

I'll answer by telling you what I did (doing it as I type) to play the JPN Gravity Daze demo on my US Vita

On my PS3, logged into my japanese SEN account.
Downloaded the demo (and several others) on my PS3

On my Vita already logged in with my US account and all my existing games and stuff
I went into the Settings App, then choose Format and Restore the PS Vita System
It will disconnect the Vita from the US SEN Account then ask you to format the memcard, there you say NO.

The Vita will restart like when you'll start it for the first time.
I logged into my japanese SEN account then plugged my Vita into my PS3 also logged into the japanese account.
Went into Content Transfer and it let me copy the demos into my Vita (any other us/jpn on the PS3/Vita will NOT work)

Then back into Settings -> Format -> Restore the PS Vita System.
Disconnected the Vita from SEN
Choose NOT to format my memcard.
The Vita restarted and after setting up my US account and all the other things (*snore), I'm playing the demo!

Quoting this again.

It asks if I wanted to deactivate my account. I assume I say no?

Edit: It tells me I can't use my memory card because my account is tied to it. =(

Red looks pretty cool too, going by the pictures. I hope you like the shell when you get it.

So it doesn't end up in a return box like your poor Vita. u.u

A few questions:

So are we 100% sure that the US 3G SKU is locked to AT&T?

Is AT&T one of those benevolent (lol) operators that offer to unlock their devices down the road for a fee?

Is Amazon's "Launch Bundle" the best deal for a 3G Vita right now?

As long as it's not broken, I'm sure the cover and I can get along just fine.
*glares at her broken Vita*

Posting this on my vita, the browser is pretty damn good, atleast when accessing neogaf from secondapps.com/neogaf. Pretty impressed. Wish sprint woukd pick the vita up, that way i can have unlimited data goodness. I really would like toget those addon grips but i think we will soon see grips that come with a built in battery. Hopefuly it is just not wishful thinking on my part.

I'm pretty much in love with this OS. It's certainly not perfect, but it's got the groundwork laid for what I imagine being my perfect gaming console OS. It just needs a nip and tuck here and there. Really looking forward to future firmware updates for this reason.

The first thing I'd like to see is the combining of the friends list, group chat, and trophy apps into one. You can have a separate trophy app, but It should only show your trophies, as it does on the PS3. You go to your friends list to compare them.

I've always wanted a Facebook like news feed for your friends list though, and the Vita completely delivers on this. It's funny seeing a handheld having the most advanced OS in the gaming industry for the foreseeable future. I'm really hoping there are some updates to the PS3 to at least sort of bring it a step closer to the Vita.

Lastly, for the love of god why are the Vita users segregated from the PS3 experience? I'm really surprised Sony didn't have this working at launch. It makes no sense that you can't see people on Vitas from the PS3, as well as the Vita games not showing up on the PS3 trophy list. They PS3 and the Vita are part of the same ecosystem. They should not be segregated like this.

so Peace Walker PSP does work on the Vita and with dual analog controls to boot......but what about Portable Ops???? anyone tried that game on Vita yet??

Doesn't work on the US Vitas yet, but camera controls ARE bound to the D-Pad, and you can make the right stick emulate that. Once it's up it should be a perfect fit, I'd definitely grab it over the PSN to try again on the Vita.

Like you said, it could use a little work, especially in regards to combining friends, group chat, party, and trophies, or at least those first three. Still, I can't believe how amazing this OS at launch!

I bought a 8GB card from a friend, so I have to wait for it to arrive by mail. Can Rayman be played at all without a memory card inserted?

Games that require mem card is preferable than games that don't, because in games that dont require mem card, you can't backup the save data at all. So if you sell the gamecard, you lose your save data as well.

How does Coded Arms play with the right stick emulation?

LOL

lol, did that ever even go up on the PS Store? I forgot about that game.

Shinobido 2, Dynasty Warriors NEXT, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, and Touch My Katamari according to Amazon.

Also Mutant Blobs Attack, Plants Vs Zombies, Hustle Kings, and demos of Unit 13 and FIFA.

is there any option to share screenshots directly from the vita? Like on fb or tw?
Or maybe e-mail them? I don't like the idea of syncing it with my mac just to get pics from the games....
