This one was a relieve for me, it was one of the ugliest games in screenshots due to sub native resolution, but I'm glad that when ur actually playing its not something you notice. I mean u do notice its less sharper but it was never distracting.
Yeah, the sub-qHD games look really awful in captured shots but actually manage to look great when played on the system itself. It's not as large of an issue as I expected.

I was messing around with Dracula X Chronicles on this thing and unlocked the original Rondo. This turned out to be a great comparison as that game does not perform well on an original PSP as a result of the screen. The game was too dark and many elements would blur too heavily while scrolling on a PSP. Plus, the washed out black levels of that system did the game no favors.

On the Vita, however, the colors really pop as expected, but it's the fluidity of the scrolling that really sells it. As the scrolling is a bit on the slow side it actually ends up looking almost as clean and smooth as a CRT. Emulators and retro games would be incredible on this thing.

An off screen photo attempt...

It didn't have a dispatch estimate, just a delivery estimate of 22nd. I've had all the conformation that its dispatched today and delivery estimate has been reset for 21st.

Its all in one package, the WiFi Vita, 8GB card, Wipeout 2048, Rayman Origins and Everybodys Golf.

Incidently, I still have two more items which are still stuck on "Not Yet Despatched", which are Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and the Thrustmaster VIP case. They're both seperate packages but there's been no movement on either yet.

Thanks. In that case I may have messed up my early delivery when I changed my order to the 3G Vita. My old order said release date and this one says 23rd. I'm sure it will be here by the 22nd but that sucks a little.

My experience with lockerz iz thiz:

Order 32Gb mc, Uncharted GA and VT4, receive 32GB mc, can't find out where my games are because you cant call lockerz and they dont return emails.

At least they only charged me the $75 for the mc. Now off to buy those games.

That sucks. I got a confirmation email, but I'm questionint if it's safe to return my 16gb card. They really should have a page to show order info.

Finally got to play with one. I was expecting to be disappointed since I had pretty high expectations but damn, this thing is awesome as i hoped. Some games really look like Ps3 titles. I think Virtua Tennis even looked better then the ps3 version.

My impressions on a couple of games.

Virtua Tennis:
Absolutely amazing, perfect game for an handheld and the graphics were stunning. Didn't care much for the touch controls.

Motorstorm RC:
Ok this one looked pretty bad. Flat lighting, extremely bad textures no shadows. Psp titles look better then this. No idea whats going on with this title. Hopefully its just a really old version.

Wipeout:
Easily the best game i tried. Gameplay is true to the wipeout formula and the graphics looked as good as wipeout HD. My only complaint is that due to the small screen it was kinda had to see what was going on sometimes. I'm sure its easier once u get used to it.

Fifa 2012:
Another game that looks as good as the PS3 version. It didn't seem to have the impact engine which was kinda disappointing. The lack of the r2 and l2 meant I didn't know how to tell players to run through and do skill moves.

Hustle Kings:
One more that looks as good as the ps3 version. The touch controls really helped to take aim here, definitely easier then using the sticks. The framerate wasn't as good as the ps3 version though.

Gravity Rush:

Unfortunately this demo unit didn't have uncharted, but it did have a few more games I didn't try. I have to go back later, the little kids were getting annoyed that a grown man didn't let them play. I even had to punch one of them, it got kinda ugly.

Anyway, I must admit that I was hoping to come out disappointed, I really didn't want to buy one, but it looks like I'm gonna have to now :-\

Do it. Get one Wed. And concerning FIFA, I was actually the same, I was like how do I do through balls or finesse shots. Skill moves are actually mapped to the left shoulder button and the rest is on you to do skills through right analog. Was actually able to do some like Elastico which is pretty wicked on the Vita.

If you can't get the framerate right in a game of billiards, you don't deserve my money.

A import review of a japanese game from someone that don't know japanese?

I'm happy about the score, but without knowing the language there are a lot of factors that are not counted in, for good or bad.

That means the gameplay alone was that good.
Sounds great to me. I skip the story in most games anyway.

It is. :D

7 hours in and I've been steadily getting new abilities; each one seems as cool as the previous one and they all seem very effective. I do have problems with one of the touch-screen/gyro controlled abilities but aside from that, everything else works very well.

Well, when the PSP PSN game gets revealed in a couple days that enables loading of HBL on Vita you'll have a small window of chance to use it for such.
Something I'm debating.

PlanetAxel has still not sent me the 32GB memory card and nor have they answered my mail. Is it really possible, that I have only ordered the shipping but not the product? :/

Anyone who has ordered from em', is this possible?

Didn't get my PS Vita today, will definitely get it tomorrow.

Gravity Daze is my most anticipated game by a very wide margin.. and I'm debating if I should just double dip and import the Japanese version then replay the NA release for the story.

To be fair the game was really good looking. Guess they wanted to make it has good as the ps3 version, and it does, considering the ps3 version is amazing that's quite a feat.

I have no problem with wanting it to look great, but if it comes at the cost of a bad framerate (and for billiards, anything less than 60 or at least a rock-solid 30) then they wont be getting my money. I also think it's weird that you set power manually, and then pull back and push forward on the stick. Wouldnt it be more realistic to have the power determined by the distance I pull the stick back and the speed at which I push it forward (I think Virtual Pool did it this way)?

Watching my daily dosage of SportsCenter and sure enough there are Vita commercials sponsoring the show. Good job Sony, keep it going.

Dark10x, just wait till Wednesday and you'll probably be able to have your emulators (as long as that's when the HBL announcement happens). I can't wait to see SNES games on it.

Why is it that the one and only person that Near has detected for the last couple of day's decides he/she doesn't want to share any info dammit. I wanna chat, send him/her some in game pics, compare stats... Talk about his/her
mom.

I'll keep an eye out as that would be excellent.

Hopefully it doesn't involve actual custom firmware, however, as I want to keep the system legit. I would love to have some emulators on there, however.

I wonder if they will run faster than they did on PSP? The PSP titles I've tested all run much better, actually, with slowdown eliminated in spots and loading times improved. It just feels snappier. Even though an emulator within an emulator seems ridiculous, it should work. SNES emulation is still too slow on PSP, but it seems like it might be possible to improve performance on Vita if it actually takes advantage of the system and isn't set to run at the exact same speed as the PSP.

Yeah, i know, i was disappointed by it too, but hey, look at it this way. I won't be giving them money, it's free!

Cause I already own the ps3 version :-P

Oh mi gosh. Soo funny. haha I'm wondering if I'll see anybody on my commutes to classes.. Hopefully so.

There's an option to do this.

Sony needs to decide on a release date for this. I don't know the appeal it would have over here but they need to advertise the shit out of it.
Even if they don't advertise it well, hopefully word of mouth and the demos in Gamestop can help pique interests.

Hopefully by making it download only in the EU when it bombs Sony won't have lost money on it. By not having distribution costs we could get more niche games like this. By not spending money on anything other than the localisation it could actually benefit GD and games like it in the future.

Whats HBL?

Half Byte Loader I think, it's a backdoor way to load emulators (not iso's or ps1 games, so it's not opening up the gates for pirates either). I know that it runs through the psp section of the Vita dark10x, so you'll only get the same to lesser performance there was on the PSP, hopefully exactly the same.

Hell no. They have to advertise all their games. Sony needs to learn the benefits of investing in heavy advertising.

Judging from previews and even GAF, the Vita succeeds at being a portable with console like experiences and more and they have to advertise that!

I'm not saying Sony shouldn't advertise it a whole lot, I just don't have much confidence that they will. Hopefully they do though!

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/02/20/social-apps-for-the-launch-of-ps-vita/

As well as revolutionary portable gaming, PS Vita comes with your favourite social network apps – Facebook, LiveTweet and Flickr – to help you stay in touch with your friends and keep up to date with all latest news.

All free to download from PlayStation Store; here is some more info and some screens to show you how they look.
Says "Head to PlayStation Store as soon as you get your PS Vita and get connected to the world in play." so should be up soon in the EU at least.

On a side note, did you end up testing out your shoulder buttons?
Ah yes, I did indeed.

A very light press does not activate them, but I find that I do not need to apply any additional pressure than I normally would. I certainly haven't had any issues pulling up aiming mode in Uncharted during normal use, for instance. If I just feather the button, however, it doesn't necessarily trigger.
