I'm calling it now Cleverley will become the english version of Iniesta, he really is that good.

I don't have Fifa on at the moment, so I'll just say what I remember seeing different: Sergio Ramos rating (87), and Benzema got his boots changed. ;) I think Marcelo got upgraded too.

Marcelo upgrade is cool. Always thought he was underrated in FIFA.

Cleverley is 22, Iniesta is 27. Tom is going to have to beat Messi to the next Ballon D'ors editions for the next 5 years to be rated in the same breath as Iniesta.

So cleverly will have to do something that even Iniesta hasn't been able to do, that too for 5 years, to even b considered Iniestas equal? Great logic.

Winning Ballon D'or means you're the best player in the world. A lot of people consider Iniesta the best. And I of course was saying it in an exaggerated manner, because there is no way to take what doicare said seriously.

Cleverley is self-evidently not yet nor likely to become as good as Iniesta, but nor is he as middling a talent as some posters are determined to insist.

It's fair to say that doicare is prancing off the spectrum of rationality, but he's serving an argumentative purpose.

Fucking Inter they are still have one of the best squads in Seria A. It is up there with Milan's but for whatever reason probably the coaching and tactics they suck I can't for the life of me figure it out. Why was forlan the lone front man? pazzini or milito should have played. They are way to focused on sneijder they would probably play better with him on the bench and why isn't palombo playing atleast he has some heart and wants to impress

I have yet to see anything clever from Cleverley. Looks like another average player being boosted by the fans.

He's played about five or six games for our first team and has looked composed and creative. Tends not to lose the ball, tends to use it intelligently.

Which isn't easy when you debut in central midfield for us. I mean, amazingly shite puns aside, there is cause for enthusiasm.

I guess I should be praising Shelvey considering he has done passes similar to those and he is younger than Cleverley. But you don't seen me putting him on the same pedestal with other great players.

Mikel passes similarly, so does Busquets. There's clearly a massive difference in the quality of two somewhat comparable players.

I really don't mind if you do. By all means. The well of Liverpool hyperbole has no bottom.

You don't see me putting Tom on the level of Iniesta or other top midfielders. You're going to have to actually read different posts and not blur mine into doicare's in order to post with some semblance of politeness and effectiveness. I just think he's good.

I'm not going to leap out of my seat in contempt and reproof when someone says someone on their team is good. Seems daft, really.

It's going to be a long time before opposition fans give Cleverley any form of credit thanks to the excessive hype after his first couple of games.

He's a young, tidy, technically adept midfielder and there's a fairly direct correlation between him playing and United playing well. He's not going to be the next Iniesta (lol) but I have no doubt he'll be very good.

Uh oh. So very defensive.

I have indeed witnessed Henderson being 'boosted' on this thread for reasonably mediocre exploits. I've seen Carroll being bestowed the same kindness. And no, I'm not searching through 6 threads and 20 or so Liverpool supporter's post histories in aid of this.

My point is that every fan hopes for the best for their young players. Signs of potential creates a lot of excitement. It's usually in vain because we see them one or two excellent feats which we hope they'll repeat with consistency and build upon, and then they do fuck all. I would say nearly every club's fans are prone to this.

Please show proof or shut up.

It will be fun to see the future England squad with English-Iniesta Cleverley, English-Xavi McEachran, English Fabregas Wilshire and Wayne "Messi" Rooney ;)

I've on several occasions complimented his hair cut. Maybe you're confusing that with his play style? It would certainly explain the praise Cleverly is getting.

The only ridiculous praise Cleverley gets here is by and large from

me (and only someone with clay for brains would take me seriously)

and from doicare, who is having some kind of worrying spasm.

If people are opposed to him being praised at all, then they have some kind of psychological problem.

Cleverly is pretty much ALL potential right now. Having never proved himself at the very highest levels consistently, we'll just have to wait and see. Good luck to him...

It's not as though premier clubs across Europe are lining up to get his signature in the same vein as say, Gareth Bale.

Quite why he should be thrown into the England team, when he's just come back from injury seems strange to me. Tis a friendly I suppose...

What the hell. The rumour is that Oxcart-Chamberpot has been told by Pearce he is not in the England squad for the upcoming friendly against Holland.

:/

The England team, let us never forget, has been presided over by the wildly spinning mental compass of Glenn Hoddle.

It's a facking lottery and a circus.

Ha, watching that Zidane film. He has the same toe-scuffing tic I do. I used to destroy my boots as a kid by doing that.

Please tell me this is not real. Please. Especially as it's coming from the same club which denied monkey chants taking place in there own ground when it was so obvious:

The opportunity for Manchester City's supporters was too good to pass up. Their team were on their way to a 4-0 win against Porto and the opposition had a striker going by the name of Hulk who was showing signs of frustration. "You're not incredible," the home fans sang.

Hulk, real name Givanildo Vieira de Souza, certainly did not look like he had superhuman powers as Sergio Agüero inspired City to a 4-0 victory to send them into the next round of the Europa League with an aggregate 6-1 victory.

Porto, however, have not seen the funny side. The Portuguese club are now preparing an official complaint in which they will ask Uefa to open disciplinary charges against the Premier League leaders – and they are denying it has anything to do with an apparent humour bypass.

Rui Cerqueira, the club's spokesman, said the matter would be reported on the grounds that City's supporters had acted in an improper way. Hulk had also been targeted with chants of "cheat" because of the Brazilian's tendency to look for free-kicks and Porto will claim he was the victim of unsporting behaviour that warrants an official investigation.

The allegations have been met with bewilderment at the Etihad Stadium where they could be forgiven for wondering if it is tit-for-tat retaliation after what happened when the two teams met at the Estádio do Dragão last week. Uefa has opened a disciplinary case after two of City's black players, Mario Balotelli and Yaya Touré, were racially abused – just as Didier Drogba and William Gallas were when they played there for Chelsea in 2004.

Porto, however, have made it clear they are outraged by City lodging a complaint. The Porto version of events that it was actually both sets of supporters chanting in support of Hulk and "Kun" Agüero. "Kun, Kun, Kun; Hulk, Hulk, Hulk," Cerqueira said at the time, demonstrating the chants. "These can be easily confused with racist chants."

All of which was a strange explanation given that Agüero was not even on the pitch at the time. Incredible, you could say.

Don't embarrass yourself Porto.

City fans have not took it well lol :P

You're about 16 stone of solid muscle and you spent the entire game on your big fat arse you gigantic mard-arse. Complain about that tit head.

You probably do remember said comments, since you only come by this thread to wind up Liverpool fans. You're part of the pathetic and insignificant type of fans no one gives a fuck about.

Wow, I didn't even think I raised a particularly controversial point here. I'm sorry I've hurt your feelings in the past.

You actually want an 18 year old kid who's had a less than a dozen top flight starts to get a call up to the senior squad? I'm amazed Pearce would even have to address it.

Good, he shouldn't be playing for the main team until after the Euros, too many young players are shoved into the main team and then when they make mistakes they get slated.
