By the way guys, as Halo fans. What are we going to do if this game flops both critically and commercially?

Same for me. There are problems with Reach, I must admit, but I still have fun playing it the way I want and don't give two shits about what any critics think. Their perspectives aren't going to make me like the game any more or less and it won't with Halo 4 either. Now, if it's widely accepted as a "flop" and people don't buy/play it which leads to issues finding matches in MM, then it would be an issue. But that isn't going to happen... Even with Reach's #'s I don't have any problems finding matches. Granted skill levels aren't matched very well.It depends on whether I think the game is great or not. I would like to see quality rewarded, so if it's great I'll be disappointed. But my playing and buying habits will be based on what I think, not on commercial or critical metrics.

Yeah that was horrible worded, sorry. Even then though, I can imagine general Halo maps like Avalanche, Haemorrhage, Highlands and Sandtrap supporting 32 players quite easily.
Yup. And I was all set to buy the Combat Evolved Anniversary until I saw that it was only 1-2 players on one console. Massive fail there meant I left it on the rack forever. I play H3 regularly with my boys.Did they ever have your money?

I have been looking at re-buying H3, is the online still popular?
I didn't like reach.

Well that was cool. I don't expect the human weapons to sound exactly like what we heard in the video (nor do I want them to) but it sure seems like nice source material.
It'd make me reconsider buying the Nextbox that's for sure. Without Halo, Microsoft would be relying entirely on Forza to get the hardcore gamer on board for the next generation. Something tells me that wont go down too well.

Will it put you off the Next Box at all?

They don't really have the studios to 'back up' Halo though, if the series were to fail. Considering they could lose Gears at any moment, the situation would be dire.

Any particular reason why you are trying to shit up this thread?
In 2011 Microsoft opened 6 new 1. party studios.
It's great that they're putting high quality focus into sound effects, but I do agree with this statement. I'm worried that Halo's becoming to far detached from being a Sci-fi title and is slowly becoming progressively more human militaristic.
All I want is drop in / drop out in at least some if not all game types. Sometimes I'll have only 30 minutes to play and if I end up in a lopsided match where half of a team drops out the two options shouldn't be spend 10 mins slogging through a boring match or quitting and being penalized.
Social Games - Drop in/Drop Out (Big Team especially should be this)
Ranked Games - Actual matchmaking (your MLG/Arena/Competitive lists should be in here)
In ranked games there should be a mercenaries option so that individual players can play against nothing but individual players. But there should be some reward for teaming up to keep the lists with "premades" active.
Last man standing on a team in which all of his team mates should quit, should be given a white flag option to end the game, and it should not count towards their stats or losses.
I rather BTB not be plagued with terrible guests. If they are in the playlist, it'll cause more crappy lop-sided games like Halo 3's Social BTB did and Reach's BTB has done.Social Games - Drop in/Drop Out (Big Team especially should be this)

I am curious what they do with party restrictions, if any. 3's BTB had it and had a hand in killing it, although the terrible ranking system being so split did it no favors. There can be a ranked Big Team as well, but Big Team lends itself to drop in/drop out the most considering all that's involved, enough people quit and it's the most pointless of any game type to be in. I have a feeling though if you break Big Team up into groups it's going to harm the population size, which makes getting 16 man games even more of a chore. At some point I'd rather have terrible guests on both sides then wait around forever just to get a game against a group of 8.
Personally, I just Hope Halo 4 has good matchmaking algorithms so we can set preferences like "Find DLC first" and "No guests" and actually have it work, mostly. It doesn't solve every problem outright, but it certainly would help a ton if it worked well enough.

They can still make it social and not allow guests, or at least make it set to two local max. Nothing worse than playing and having a person quit, but losing three of his teammates as well. It causes more of a circus than an actual fun game. I could do without having two large, 16-player playlists. One would be fine with unranked being a selection of slayer, objectives, multi-team, and a free for all.
Will note I rather see a custom game browser than a ton of unranked playlists that consist of drop in-drop out.

We were told prior to Reach being released that guests will more often be matched with other players who bring in guests. But it seems nothing has changed since Halo 3 unranked. More lop sided games and frustration because of it.Personally, I just Hope Halo 4 has good matchmaking algorithms so we can set preferences like "Find DLC first" and "No guests" and actually have it work, mostly. I'd definitely would like that. Say you go into Team Objective, it dishes out Reflection, Swordbase, Powerhouse, and Zealot. If something like Swordbase is selected, a variation of Oddball, KotH, and 1-flag comes up. IF Zealot is chosen, Multi-CTF, Neutral Bomb, and Multi-Bomb is brought up. Probably more of a wish-list thing than something that comes to fruition. :\Yes. And voting for maps and gametypes should be separate, so you can vote for a specific map, and then gametypes on said map. There's nothing like vetoing a bunch of crappy gametypes only to come across a preferred gametype that's on your least favorite map. How fun.

Yeah, I thought I remember them saying something along those lines. I just hope 343 can really identify some of the core issues with MP and MM and find solid ways to introduce a better system. We were told prior to Reach being released that guests will more often be matched with other players who bring in guests. But it seems nothing has changed since Halo 3 unranked. More lop sided games and frustration because of it.
Agreed completely. Its always an issue for me with Reach as the maps arent as strong as the past games. The only issue I see is a lot of people probably wouldn't vote and may find that too complicated. Still, I wouldn't mind voting for both. They just need to keep the votes hidden IMO.
My main wish for Halo 4 is to be a significant departure from the rest of the games. 343i has the chance to create this new world with new enemies, weapons, vehicles, architecture, and my one fear is that it will be mostly more of the same. The concept art a year ago got my really hyped for this all new adventure, hoping that stays true.
I don't think people would be all that confused, especially if the voting actually displayed the proper map instead of some place holder (THANKS FORGE WORLD MAPS). I think it'd be less confusing since you're not vetoing a good gametype because it's on Uncaged. The two would be separate, so you can get your TU Slayer DMR shit on a map you actually enjoy.
Its probably best you buy 2 copies of the game then cause I am pretty sure we will see the Flood. Still, I really hope the game doesn't focus combat around them.I swear to god, if the Flood show up, I will snap my disc in half.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure we will see the return of The Flood. In what form? I wouldn't know.
True, and I totally agree, Im just wondering how it would be handled. Obviously we wouldn't have any issues with a voting system like that, but how would they implement it while staying casual friendly the interface? Also, without slowing the process down? I am sure it is doable, but I can see that being one of things that is shot down by a developer for being "too complex".
It will prove 343 is a terrible dev with no ideas.
Seriously, NO FLOOD.
The idea of more Flood sucks, I know, but the universe and story focus's around them so much that I doubt they will be absent. That said, I suspect they will receive a major overhall and be a much different creature than what we currently know.
