What about them? Like I said, people who idolized a me-first chucking felon are unlikely to appreciate a team-first guy who doesn't release albums about faggot tendencies in his spare time. Two different types of fans. That's all.

edit: entrement put it more succinctly.

wooooooooow

But how could we know since Alley-Me was a black hole?

It's hard for anyone to score over 16ppg when one guy's heaving up 25+ shots a game. Yeah, he was good about whining about his injuries and hamming it up, no doubt about that. Although if he gave a shit about his conditioning he might not have been injured so much in the first place.
Don't make me defend AI, girl don't tempt me.

/Drake voice.

Its not so much a circlejerk as it is we know what we're talking about. Dumb shit gets called out. For some, that's hard to deal with it.
What does your circlejerk have to do with the fact that Allen Iverson was a cancer?

AI is the one of the few guys to carry a team of complete garbage to the Finals singlehandedly and win a game.

But by all means, keep believing that he was holding Aaron and Derrick back. That bastard.

There are only two perimeter players that philly got in Ai's prime that could have possibly done something offensively; pre dead brother-Larry Hughes and pre-injury Speedy Claxton.

Nah, it's more you take it personally and get all riled up when someone has a different opinion. It does make you easy to troll, though. It's very impressive to win one finals game, I'll concede. Such a mystery why he didn't do shit in Denver with Anthony. Keep making excuses for him, that's what he'd want I'm sure.

listen to this guy, tossing out disrespect at one of the best and toughest pro ballers of the last decade.
let's talk stats for a minute.

in 2002-03 he was ranked 18th in the league in assists at 5.5 per game. 03-04, 6.8 assists per game. 04-05, 5th best in the league at 7.9 per game. 05-06 he was 8th best at 7.4 per game. 06-07, 8th best at 7.2 per game.07-08, 9th best at 7.1 per game.

Gee, if Ivy wasnt such selfish ball hog, he maybe couldve averaged a double double every night.

fuck outta here, you are all hyperbole and no facts.

his career average in assists is 6.2, very fucking respectable.

He "busted his ass" to score as many points as he could and never won a title. Remember when he shot less than 40% for a season? Twice? That was awesome. Like entrement said, some people appreciate good team play, other people appreciate swagger. There's probably some overlap but not much.

AI IS THE GREATEST POINT GAURD EVER.....FUCK WHAT U HEARD

And his career FG% is 42.5%. Which is why his teams never did shit. Can't respect that.

This is where people get it wrong. You can be right and troll at the same time. (Yo NBA-GAF, you remember Wall? Westbrook? 2-3 years? Lin? Failton? Amare? You're welcome.)

But sure. Lets pretend that AI ever had help before he was done in Philly. Lets pretend that Carmelo is suddenly some great winner that was held back by AI too. Lets also pretend that another guard ever carried a team with D-league talent to the finals and won a game against one of the best teams of its generation. Lets keep going - lets also say that the guy 'whined' about injuries when every other player and coach has proclaimed him on the toughest players to ever play the game.

Some just want to pretend that coming off like an idiot after saying something that they haven't even fully thought out themselves is trolling. GJ.

To be fair the east was complete garbage in those years. Any of the western playoff teams that year probably could have gotten to the Finals if they were in the east.

I have a question for the Lin experts in here. This image:

jhSnnJ828XOBn.jpg

was recently created for our enjoyment and revelry. Do you feel that it undermines Lin's faith and creates a mockery of the foundation he has built his career on?
Also, does the fact that Lil'B is telling us to "Eat that Wonton soup" hint at the subtle racism that is rampant in the world today?

LinGAF, discuss.

Did you miss the ESPN "chink in the armor" commotion all last week? The answers are so obvious to your questions.

Yet, we're still not talking about Vince dragging the Raptors to the Finals.

So first he doesn't have any scorers in Philly, now it's Carmelo's not a "winner" (which would make Iverson...?). Make up your mind about which dumb excuse you want to make for his failure and stick with it. Did he win a championship in Turkey - that would have showed all those haters!

right, but you said he was a ball hog too. maybe he was, but he was still ranked in the top 10 for assists for 4 or 5 consecutive seasons.
and he shot 45% from the field in Denver, when he wasnt being forced to be the offensive spark every trip down the floor. That's respectable.

that espn poll is so messed up. Of course they used yellow to represent his supporters...they coulda used blue and put the yellow for the heat.

It would have been the appropriate color for them because of the way lebron played in the finals.

The 00-01 Sixers weren't a garbage squad + Iverson. They had some of the best defenders in the league at every position. That's the only type of squad you could construct around him. It would be unlikely that he would be the offensive threat that he was with another big time scorer on the team. I don't know how you could argue dude wasn't a cancer. Seems like he burned bridges with every team he was on. At this point isn't dude willing to play for a D-League team to get another shot at the league?

Iverson hurt his legacy by actually becoming a complete joke and a cancer in the last few years. If he just would have practiced, things would be different.

Oh, definitely. AI burned bridges like no tomorrow. Off the court? Sure. On it? One of the best. Any Philly fan could tell you he was done a year before he left for Denver anyways.

But Derrick Coleman? Eric Snow? Aaron McKie? Ugly Hill? Play all the defense you want - you're not winning games with any of those guys as a #2 option with anyone but AI taking charge.

Still, going back to Lin - the 'humble' arc is swallowed up by people who just don't follow basketball beyond ESPN's latest push. Kevin Love especially... he's lucky he gets to hide out in Minnesota. They won't talk about Kyle Lowry's long road to grabbing his starting spot, they won't talk about how Barbosa was sleeping on the locker room floor during his transition from international ball to NBA life, they won't talk about the community service that Michael Finley has been a part of in Chicago for the past decade. I'm glad Lin's getting his attention. I am. And I said he'd be good back when he was shitting on people in the tourney and in summer league. But underdog story aside, there's a lot of other underdogs and 'so humble's out there too that don't get any attention.

AI was fun to watch because he was a small guy who could create his own shot. But his shooting percentage isn't great. Part of that is him trying/needing to do all the scoring, part of that is bad shot selection.

I don't think he was great player. He was a good, talented player, with a shitty attitude.

Nugget Iverson didn't do any favors for him. His game was about having the ball all the time, the Sixers teams were basically catered around his individual game.

To say he was a chucker and a winner aren't mutually exclusive.
