Daily Lives of High School Boys 07:

Literary girl... you are so hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng!! You try so, so hard. That skit was awesome! The rest was serviceable.

Persona 4 20

This was a really fun episode, and even more fun than I remember it in the game.

I was definitely laughing plenty, and this was just great. Also hnnnnghhhhh.

I'm kinda curious where they're gonna end it now. It's looking more and more that they're not gonna do the true end, though I guess right now it's still feasible.

Nanako time?

:D

Eureka Seven episode 3

3 kids at such a young age
, what has Eureka been doing with her life? well, there was a bit of an introduction to the rest of the crew of the Gekko, but it looks like next episode will have more of that. I quite like the character design in this show, even if Eureka's staring eyes look just the teensiest bit creepy at times.

I think I enjoy this show more when I am not mistakenly thinking that Gekko and the Military are the same.

True men eat Meat.

Om nom nom nom!

But I like living in a world where the only DEEN adaptations were from the 90s, Mari Okada only wrote for a maximum of two shows, Sunrise still had its shit together, and 26+ episode series were the norm. :(

"I mustn't run away, I mustn't run away, I mustn't run away..."

Learn from the Shinji

I dont think its anymore animu than it was before.

I thought it was supposed to be a different Yomiko, though....

It doesn't really look that bad to me. Her librarian look wouldn't really fit the new setting.

Isn't this supposed to be about some underground book group that is fighting against the gov't banning books or something?

No setting or premise should ever exist that requires characters to look like that :(

More seriously, though, old Yomiko's design wasn't really outlandish at all. Sure, she has the whole office lady/librarian look which is a kind of fanservice in itself, but she really just had a vest, dress shirt, tie, and overcoat, which is reasonably close to something an actual person could wear. New Yomiko is a palette swap of Yuzuriha Inori, which kind of speaks for itself.

I might be blinded by nostalgia though, the R.O.D. OVA was one of my favorites as a teenager.

Vampire Princess Miyu TV 23

One visual quirk of this show that annoys me is its tendency to only show solid light in windows instead of the scenes which should be behind them. I'm not sure if this was a deliberate artistic choice to create a feeling of claustrophobia, a budget/effort saving device, or both. Whatever it was, it looks ugly and is a poor depiction of lighting.

Besides this, it was a good episode that brought to a climax the conflict that's been developing between Miyu and Reiha. Their confrontation is weary and empty. Reiha's rage is cold and detached, and Miyu has passively resigned herself to her destiny. They fight not because they want to, but because they have to.

Leave it to this show to take that procession, the sign of shit going down, and make it completely silly, lol. The insert song/montage was all kinds of out-of-place, but the skit before that with the fake show-host and an irate Tadakuni nailed the humor, so hard.

Guilty Crown 18

WTF WTF WTF WTF WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. This. Show. I don't even know how to interpret what just happened.
Arisa's grandfather was pretty badass.
Arisa's wiki page is hilarious. NSFW/Spoilers

Arisa is later seen in Episode 16 onwards captured by Shu. In the ensuing fight in Episode 17, she rebels against Shu's dybolical rule and looks on like she wants to dry hump Gai. cuts of Shu's arm and takes the Power Of Kings.

Typical Guilty Crown fans.

Boku wa Tomdachi ga Sukunai 01
I will admit, that was cute.
Not a bad first episode, setting up the whole point and stuff. Kodaka doesn't seem to be that bad, a little unassertive, but better than nothing. I do think his terrible fashion taste in pants is probably what drives him to be friend-less. Besides him, Yozora was pretty good, being all assertive with hidden back story and other stuff. Sena was cute at the end, and I may look forward to them arguing with each other. So, it wasn't that bad of an intro to a harem series.

That was pretty much my reaction to the show as well; better than I expected it would be.

Dennou Coil 25-26

Hmmm, my expectations of
a bad end
were pleasantly averted. The ending did a fairly good job of wrapping things up, while still leaving a sense of mystery.
I thought Yasako's dream sequence with her grandfather was particularly well done, as it built so well of the previous flashback, changing entirely the meaning of what was shown.
Boy, was there a ton of
yuri
in the final episode, especially that shot of
Yasako and Isako on the bend, gently caressing each other's faces~. It doesn't get much more yuri than that.

Don't encourage 7th.

Full Metal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos

I think what helps this movie the most is that it's set at some point during the narrative of the show instead of trying to needlessly expand upon its ending. Having it be its own little self-contained adventure works best and this way it manages to accomplish what it set out to do instead of going down the route of whatever the hell Shambala was trying to go for.

It's kind of a shame that this seems to have bomba'd pretty bad because it's ultimately a fun watch even if it's not particularly outstanding but then again I guess the brand has kinda worn itself thin at this point.

Haganai is awesome. Enjoy it.

Meat is the correct answer, despite the fact that i'm a vegetarian. The writer is an asshole for cutting Yozora's beautiful hair :(

Steins;Gate 25

How the hell could they retcon the
looks of Suzuha's mom?

Other than that, it was just a nice dose of fanservice.

Haibane Renmei 13 End

This was beautiful. It's also the first episode where I watch the ED and I just realized how great it was. Regret skipping it all this time.

So what's behind the wall and what's the deal with Haibane? Do you guys know of any popular internet theories or blog posts where I can read more about it?

Phantom: Requiem f or the Phantom Episodes 4 & 5

Oh shit, the ending to episode 5 was amazing.
I kept hoping he’d do it but feared he’d grow a consciousness and pussy out at the end.
Glad to see this show is living up to my expectations.

Loups=Garous

I went expecting werewolves. I didn’t get werewolves, instead I got shit.

Major Spoilers for Loups=Garous

So basically the plot boils down to some guy having to eat people during “the war” so he creates this massive organization, which ends up taking over the world, so he can keep eating people. You know, that sounds pretty cool but the entire journey to this realization is boring and a waste of time. It might be different if any of the main characters were likeable but they’re just all so fucking bland. Then there’s the tacked on J-Rock/J-Pop which really has no place in the movie and is only there to promote some band.

I would suggest that this be AnimeGaf’s new Blood-C but it’s just so fucking boring to get to the “Oh hey, that’s kinda fucked up” moment.
