You need to re-read my message above because my point is that guys like him don't seem to have the passion for the business anymore and the ONLY time they're interested in showing up is when they're asked (HBK) or because they need a paycheck (many of the legends). That was my issue with them.

Nobody watches the program regularly anymore. They want nothing to do with it when they leave. THAT is what bugs me and what I was pointing out earlier. Jericho is one of the rare exceptions of a guy being out, having enough money in the bank to retire, good things happening, yet he still wants to be around WWE because he loves the business. Wrestling NEEDS more guys like him, even if it's backstage or working down in WWE's developmental company (for more than those 1-2 day visits they do now).
 
Chael Sonnen doesn't have to sell a storyline once a week on live TV 4-12 weeks in a row.

But yeah, Roddy Piper should just be the lead agent for any promo segment

How many people here keep up with ROH's TV show on a regular basis?

I lost the motivation to watch it awhile ago and was wondering if it's worth getting back into at this point.
 
Well Russo is gone, so I'd assume all the team break ups and random heel/face turns are gonna be gone too. Division is gonna be good too once Sabin comes back and reforms MCMG. You could have Briscoes, MCMG, Kazarian/Daniels, Joe/Magnus etc.

I gave up around Final Battle. There just isn't anything on there worth wasting an hour of my time on. They take themselves way too seriously and production values are shit. Although I've read at the last tapings they used new production cameras?

When you have summer vacation do you still look at your books to learn shit? No, its a vacation..time off, time to relax..These guys gave YEARS of their lives to the business. Some of them barely saw their kids. Give them a break dude.JR did a lot for this company as well, he could just stay home and retire if wants and i'll accept it.

I still watch it but not every week. It's about the same as what it has been, just a bit more story progression mixed in with the average to great wrestling. I intend to watch this week's since it has a world title match and those tend to be good.
 
Impact Spoilers for March 8th

IMPACT Wrestling (for March 8 Episode)
-Eric Bischoff, Gunner and Ric Flair come out for a promo. Tonight there will be a tag team match with Garett Bischoff and a Mystery Partner vs Gunner and a mystery partner. Kurt Angle comes out to reveal he is Gunner's mystery partner then trash talks Garett telling him he doesn't respect his father. Kurt promises to make Garett tap tonight.

-Eric Young and ODB defeated Gail Kim and Madison Rayne to win the Knockout Tag Team Titles. Madison accidentally hit Gail with a tag title allowing Eric to get the pin. After the match, Eric Young proposed to ODB. ODB got down on one knee and EY jumped into her arms. Looks like we get another wedding.

-Zema Ion defeated Austin Aries in a Non-Title Match when the referee caught Aries using the hairspray on Zema Ion.

-Bully Ray comes out to the ring. He wants a shot at the World Title. He gets interrupted by Sting who makes Bully Ray vs Bobby Roode after the commercial break.

Bully Ray vs Bobby Roode goes to a no contest. Ray was going to use his chain when James Storm came out and chased him to the back. Storm then hit a pair of Superkicks on Roode allowing the referee to throw this match out.

-Crimson and Matt Morgan defeated Robbie E and Robbie T in a #1 Contender's Match. Crimson made a blind tag and stole the pin from Morgan. The two argued after the match.

-In the ring, we get a promo of AJ Styles. Styles talks about TNA's 10 Year Anniversary and all the friends he made. He is interrupted by Kazarian and Daniels who talk about how the reason everyone turns on AJ is because of AJ. AJ then said he is going to partner with a real "Asshole." Mr. Anderson makes his return and attacks Daniels and Kazarian. AJ and Anderson stand tall in the ring.

-Eric Bischoff comes to the ring and talks about Garett Bischoff finding a partner. He tells the fans to come back tomorrow to see what happens. In reality, Jeff Hardy got food poisoning and was unable to compete as he was Garett's scheduled partner.
 
Outside of submissions and the Glamslam most WWE finishers are kinda terrible right now.

Finishers in general need to change their role in match storytelling

Of course it matters. What does being the #1 show do for them? They don't get money from ad revenues. They get it mainly from TV fees (which are determined by demand and ratings), PPV buys, live show business, and licensing and merchandise sales. If people aren't watching and buying the PPVs, then it's only a matter of time before live show business goes down too. They use their shows to advertise merchandise, as well. Of course people watching the show matters.

I don't, for the same reasons BoboBrazil lists, and yet I'm going to another ROH show.

It makes for an odd experience when I'm not fully versed in what's going on in the three or so months between these events.

I've lost interest too, after Final Battle was such a downer, so I haven't been keeping up with the TV show. I couldn't care less about production values as long as it's watchable and has great wrestling, which for the most part it does - I think one of the main problems with ROH at the moment is roster depth. Also, the TV show seriously feels like an old territory TV show, in that it seems geared to sell iPPV's and DVD's of the non-TV shows, rather than provide a compelling TV product to tune into and follow every week.

I seriously miss pre-TV ROH - I know I can expect great wrestling from modern ROH, but I just don't have that same excitement I did for the product back in 03-07. PWG is pretty much the only US company I religiously follow at the moment. Still need to watch the CHIKARA season premier.

Cable tv is having a slow slow death. WWE makes A LOT of money. More then they did in the attitude era. Wrestlemania 23 in 07 had a bigger buyrate then any of the attitude era buyrates. But the attitude era had crazy ratings. So ratings are important to a degree but not like it used to be. If WWE was about to die do you think they would waste so much money on shitty movies and a pointless network?

Basically, HBK was just a gigantic cock to Vader while they were working together. If you watch their Summerslam 96 match, Vader screws up a spot where he's supposed to move out of the way of a top-rope move and Shawn just goes to town yelling at him.

Cornette told a story once during a shoot about how Shawn verbally abused Vader so bad during a house show match, Vader was crying when he got out of the ring after it was over.

I think that is Dragon Gate USA/Evolve for me. They have really hit a stride lately with their last shows and the addition of Low Ki. I will admit, I need to watch more PWG though.

I don't know why, but the last time I tried to watch a PWG show, not having the entrances made me care less...like they were all jobbers. It might have also been that it was Kurt Russellreunion II and those are supershows with just wrestling on them.
 
Chikara premiere was great. They make the best of the talent they have, everyone has a gimmick and a place, the announcers are having fun, the wrestlers are having fun, and the production values are actually great for an indy show.

Not quite. USA has built up alot of strong orginal programming over the past few years that garners some pretty strong ratings for a cable network (hence why USA is regularly the top rated cable channel on a weekly basis). Some of those shows don't garner the same average rating as Raw does, but they still generate more ad revenue than Raw because advertisers learned awhile ago that wrestling fans don't respond as strongly to commercials/advertisements in the same fashion as a regular TV viewer. Tough Enough was getting some decent ratings when it was on USA last year, but since reruns of NCIS can garner similar ratings (while bringing in more ad revenue), it caused USA to not immediately renew TE for a 2nd season.
 
Damn!! I was just watching the I quit match between Mankind and The rock at RR99 and the fucking crow!!! It was more like a heavy metal/hard rock concert type of crowd. I miss those crows.

Understood, But don't really see the doom of poor ratings. Nothing besides reality TV or crime shows seem to survive anymore. So when you look at todays standards getting a 3 on a consistent basis all year isn't extremely terrible. Plus didn't they go PG to help with the ads?

I can definitely understand that, especially with the undercard as PWG use a ton of guys most people won't have been exposed to unless they watch NWA Hollywood or some of the obscure west coast promotions.

That's really the theme for most PWG shows, and also why, as much as I love the promotion, I rarely get through one of their shows in a single sitting, because it's just end to end wrestling. However, I love that they're always bringing in talent from other promotions, even if it's just for a match or two, and that the Reseda crowd are always so batshit insane for the action going on around them, and Excalibur & Chucky-T killing it on commentary, they always sound so genuinely excited and invested in the product. In many ways, it reminds me of the early years of ROH, in that they have some of the best talent working today on their shows, as well as a bunch of guys who are improving all the time and out to make a name for themselves, and just a whole load of awesome wrestling.

More PWG love! The building's always hot. I go out to 5-6 shows a year, mostly the big ones like DDT and BOLA. The shows are very different on tape. Just split the dvd up in 3 parts or so and watch them over 3 days. Pretty easy that way. Whats funny is that the entrances are recorded and they're seen in all the DVD previews. No idea why they dont show them on the dvd
