this is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass!

México vs Colombia

----------------- Ochoa ------------------
Juárez -- Márquez -- Moreno -- Salcido
----- Zavala --- Jona Dos Santos --------
Barrera --- Gio Dos Santos --- Guardado
------------- Chicharito ---------------------

facepalm @ bolded

Disregard this post.

Nah, the Spanish are going to be physically bullied off the park. The Dutch were partially effective in the WC Final doing this. Best way to describe the approach is Chelsea vs Barcelona in 2009. Barca were second best and only scandalous refereeing put them through. Barring that I expect the Italians to dispose of the Spanish if they face them. Spain needed pens against a shite Italian side in 2008.

To be fair to barce they were missing henry and several other players were playing out of position.

Still chelsea showed how to blunt the barcelona offensive game. Press, keep pressing and press some more

I was talking to Messi about the WC final the other day. I thought it was a brilliant tactical decision by the Netherlands to be that aggressive. It almost worked too.

At least we finally get to see Jona and Gio together in a match.

Ok ahora sí: @FEMEXFUTOFICIAL: Alineación México: Ochoa; Márquez; Moreno; Pérez; Salcido; Guardado; J. Dos Santos; Barrera; Zavala; Hernández; G. Dos Santos.

ESPN me la pela. ¬¬

EDIT: @FEMEXFUTOFICIAL: Alineación Colombia: Ospina; Armero; Zúñiga; Perea; Mosquera; Sánchez; Rodríguez; Cuadrado; Ramírez; Falcao; Pabón.

Lots of teams that have tried this have gotten absolutely torn apart, so no, it's not "how to blunt the barcelona offensive game." (and the Dutch who as noted did a decent job of defendering didn't really press that much, tactically fouling isn't the same as pressing.

As for Spain, it's silly to say that they'll be physically bullied off the park and defeated because of that- maybe they won't score, but that's hardly a great way to score goals.

sure, if all refs keep their red cards in their pockets that's a very effective style to stop not just the spanish, but any team

depends on the team i suppose.

chelsea had essien, ballack and lampard in midfield. They completely neutralised xavi and iniesta.

Anyone watching Chile vrs Ghana? Ghana just scored off a great defence splitting pass.

Also, I can't believe this is the closest they have ever played near me (Playing in Philadelphia) and I couldn't get time off work to make my way down from NYC for the game.

Trapattoni is the answer to Spain.

NO!! Trap has done a fine job with Ireland. We're basically a poor mans Italy. Trap has us playing a bastardized version of Catenaccio. The problem is we don't have Franco Baresi. We have Paul Mc Shane (shudder).

So Spain can't have him. He's Irelands now!!!!

It does not matter how many times I watch it. It still amazes me

was that spain? sweet jesus, they are really god-tier. Looks like another easy Euro for them, lucky bastards. Probably the most impressive generation of players I've seen for a NT.

Imagine if Messi would've chose Spain over Argentina. :shudders

I think he means that Trap's Ireland can beat Spain?

Edit: I'm glad Messi doesn't play for Spain. Whenever he plays he makes it all about him. Everything Barça does runs through him. It's nice to see beautiful football without people having to take Messi's balls out of their mouth to talk.

I'd love to see Barcelona's first 11 play random countries (England, Germany, Brazil, etc.) to see how they get on. Any player/country clashes would be resolved with the player being in the Barca squad.

Would be a footie nerd's dream scenario just to see how it would occur. Could even use "charity" as an excuse to get matches like these happening.

You think? I disagree man. I think this is a tactical shift and has made a lot of current teams tactics as obsolete as Hungary made England's WM formation in 53. You can (barely) etch out victories with solid counter attacking against them but as fairly mediocre teams like Swansea have proven the Spanish method just works even against far better players if you drill it over time.

Really? Thats what I get for not following the topic of conversation.

I think Ireland could frustrate Spain by sitting deep and putting lots of players behind the ball. But Spain are too good and would eventually break us down.

I'm still optimistic though. I think we have a chance of beating Italy and Croatia in our group. It's a very slim chance but it's possible. I can't see us beating Spain though.

I thought it was a joke anyway. Don't listen to me. I suck
