None of those were even really disputable, none of them - except one in the 1st half (against Abidal) was a penalty IMHO. The rest of the decisions in regards to the other appeals were spot on.

the pique handball was a stonewall decision, you can't have your arm stretched out like that and call it a natural position.

Oh Mexico always making opposing keepers look like Superman. I wonder when they will be able to finally produce a creative forward. Besides Blanco I don't think they've ever had one in 30 years.

Hahahaha England.

Replays show his hand was already in the air before the ball moved towards it. FIFA law consistently distinguishes between ball to hand and handball, with the latter having to be an intentional movement of the arm towards the ball to fit the definition. Problem is referees sometimes don't recognise this fact. It makes zero sense to penalise a team simply because a ball hit an arm in the box; it has to be intentional, something akin to Suarez's one against Ghana

Great matches, Awesome Animals. Specially the Napoli - Bayern... I was pretty scared when you scored the first gol in the first minutes :p

I had to leave because my little brother wanted to play. Maybe we can play a couple more tomorrow!

So that means a huge proportion of handballs that are currently being given as fouls shouldn't be given right? FIFA should really clarify the rule and make the refs enforce it correctly.

It's certainly true that referees probably give too many handball decisions (announcers/pundits are even worse), but if you go too far the other way you just have people reaching their arms out in an anticipation and 'unintentionally' blocking the ball.

What's the point of subbing Peralta in for Chicharito? Why not take out Barrera? I don't understand.
Pekerman has always been a pretty solid coach. Chepo is gritty and shitty IMO.
I think that's unfair to him. He certainly has found success at club and national level.

edit: and Barrera finally gets off.

Well mate you're right I should say he grinds games out, which you would think fits Mexicos style, but he is missing forwards that can hold the ball like borghetti used to.

But that's hardly his fault; Mexico has always had a forward problem. The league is not producing youngsters who can play admirably in that position.

Not that I like everything about Chepo: he's still playing the same 4-4-1-1 formation when it's obvious that Colombia have become complacent to play on the counter, and that ended up in a two goal deficit for us.

I'm not even in the mood to watch the U-23 match versus USA now. This was an awful display of football. Usually we create clear chances that we just don't put in. Tonight? Tonight was horrible and the whole team should feel bad about it.

And again, Guardado is too much of a player to be playing for Deportivo.

I don't understand leaving Barrera and Salcido on. Torres Nilo should have replaced him instead of Jona, and Gio should have been moved to Barrera's spot. I wish Vela would have played in this game partnered up with Chicha. He can hold the ball up and he always links up very well with Gio.

At least Chepo can now see that Jona + Zavala is the way to go.

I couldn't watch the match because Ecuador - Honduras was at the same time, but what formation are you guys using? 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1?
edit: oh, nvm, looks like you're using 4-4-1-1, who's the media punta?

This United States u-23 looks actually good. D:

Jona was easily one of the best things we had in the first half. I assume he wanted to see Torres Nilo on that position, but it obviously didn't help.

Giovani, who's not a natural for that position. He should be playing in Barrera's wing.

Guardado could play there, right? Also, the guy from Chivas... Marco Fabian(?). Btw, you guys are talking about strikers, what about the kid from Chivas, Erick Torres? Sounds like he could be an awesome striker.

He's playing with the U-23 right now. Those guys have the priority right now.

Overrated, and I am a Chivas fan. He's still too green and very erratic.

Oh, I see. We're in the same group for the pre-olimpic as you :p obviously your u-23 is miles away from ours, but we'll try to get the second spot.

Pekerman showing his experience.
Hopefully he will put Colombia back on track on las eliminatorias. We have a good set of players, we just needed a experienced hand at the helm.

The best formation I see Mexico using efficiently in the future is a 4-2-3-1. As it is, it seems Mexico suffers in the creative department, lacks height and someone who can actually center the ball in, not that there's anyone to center in to besides lil chicharito. They can play 4 back, holding mids in Jona and Zavala. Up front playing guardado on one edge and Gio on the other, with God knows who in the middle behind the lone Chicharito up front. Yep, that's the best I can figure. What say you?

This is more like the Mexico I wanna see. Fabián is controlling the game.

And then the gringos score. :( Through a corner.

Congrats on your win. I hope you guys qualify (at Argentina's expense preferrably) (like that's gonna happen).

Sounds about right. I just want the players to have continuity.

edit: good night guys fuck

Comical update from Australia

http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/news/1095659/Palmer-vows-to-pay-out-contracts

Gold Coast United owner Clive Palmer has created an independent organisation titled 'Football Australia' and hired former A-League chief Archie Fraser as its chief executive.

"Today I have launched Football Australia and we aim to replace incompetent FFA. @ArchieFraser will be the CEO." the outspoken mining magnate wrote on his Twitter page before confirming the news at a press conference.

Palmer revealed his organisation, which will operate under the mantra "we kick harder", has been registered with the Australian Investment and Securities Commission (ASIC) and was created to "oversee football at a grassroots and senior level and ensure the game is operated with transparency and fairness."

He said Football Australia aimed to replace Football Federation Australia, which he claimed was incompetent at both a domestic and international level.

"The FFA has lurched from one disaster to another and needs to be replaced," Palmer said.

"They staged a hugely embarrassing World Cup bid which blew $46 million of taxpayers' money for one vote and they are running an A-League competition which is bleeding money from club owners.

"The fans, players and people with a passion for football in Australia deserve better and Football Australia will be based on full transparency and corporate governance.

He drove his club into the ground, they've finished bottom, nobody goes to their games, and the Federation have taken away his licence because he's such an incompetent cunt, and his response is to start a new Federation, ostensibly responsible for the entirety of football matters and activity in this country.

For all those "support your local club" fundamentalists: THIS is (or was) my local club. Fuck that for a lark.

Mexico V Colombia
Not surprised; Colombia was at full strength and Chepo keeps insisting on the European contingent who don't actually play + Marquez. Would rather have seen Reyna and Andrade instead of Barrera and Juarez. Gio was decent but still seemed sloppy at times. Hobbit keeps getting looked over due to his size, he's finally back in form and he's never really had a real chance with Chepo.

U23-EEUA v Mexico

Surprised Mexico played so bad, but I'll just attribute to Tena being the worst manager in charge of any of the national teams.

You think? I disagree man. I think this is a tactical shift and has made a lot of current teams tactics as obsolete as Hungary made England's WM formation in 53. You can (barely) etch out victories with solid counter attacking against them but as fairly mediocre teams like Swansea have proven the Spanish method just works even against far better players if you drill it over time.

No, I don't think it's tactical it's just a group of players who play together at club level transporting that core to the national team. Typically national teams are disjointed in their approach because players don't normally play with each other. Spain basically has the Barca midfield.

End of the day the current Barca team is full of midgets but midgets who work to win the wall back. I have seen no team apart from Chelsea actually up their fitness level and physically boss them off the park.

People forget just how piss poor Spain were in the early stages of the World Cup.

Damn. Nearly at |OT7|. Do we have a front runner for a title?

I know it means he will be naming two titles in a row but dammmn when a players in this kind of form you just have to keep playing him.

I'm calling it now Cleverley will become the english version of Iniesta, he really is that good.

This has got to be the frontrunner material for the new title.
