And fuckin' Skrtel, Wilbury.
Btw, literally no one in this thread has said Richards was shut. Same with Lescott.

It's only when I watch the cave troll sections of Fellowship of the Ring I remember Skrtel.

But yeah, he and Agger have been fantastic.

Arsenal have lost two very big players from last year. Chelsea were shit last year too. Really, they just aren't good enough. It's not about underperforming.

Arsenal still were once 3 points off Utd and challenged for the title. And Chelsea finished 2nd.

As it stands, Man Utd are two points off City, and they have about 10 players injured that City don't. They aren't 'that' good at all.

The best performance I've seen seen from any side this year, domestically and in Europe, was City's job at White Hart Lane at the beginning of the season. I was genuinely blown away by what I was witnessing and I can't remember the last time I saw a performance like that. It was better than the 5-0 drubbing Barcelona gave Real last year, for example. From the segments I've seen of City since then, however, I don't think they have reproduced that level of a performance.

It was a very good performance. Unfortunately Silva has gone cold after that (still a very good player) and Dzeko is a very streaky player, two who were vital in that match. And that was literally Nasri's only good match (or maybe one more).

Nasri has been astoundingly average this season. I don't think DC or Manager can refute this. He isn't being derided on this thread for any other reason. He started off well for City but has been underperforming for the last 5 months.

For a £24 million player I expected an awful lot more from him. He's been almost as invisible as Tevez this season.

Correct. Even for £10m I'd expect more. He just seems like a pussy. Doesn't show any emotion, just carelessly jog around. Can disappear for a whole half without touching the ball. In other words: he's a fucking passanger. It was a stupid buy.

All his talk of fighting for trophies and giving 100% pisses me off as well. He doesn't even seem to give 30%. The future can show another side of him, but I haven't seen anything that warrants the price tag, or even half of that. He's literally the only City player that I'm disappointed with this season (except for Tevez but everyone saw that coming).

Nasri never repeated his form with Fabregas in the Arsenal side. He shines best when he is the main playmaker, but again someone is ahead of him in that regard (Silva)

Thankfully, Hart, Kompany, Yaya, Aguero, Dzeko, Balotelli and Savic are fantastic

What do you expect? Better get used to it since most players only join City for the money.

Do hookers show emotion? They're just there for the money.

Just beat a guy in Fifa. I was using Santos he picked Liverpool. Got in front of me 0-1 and then I came back with 5 unanswered Goals. Suck it pool!

Yep, but as I said, Arsenal lost Fabregas and Nasri after being 3 points off.

Chelsea, my mistake, somehow the table I looked at on PL.com listed February round (where Arsenal were 3p off) and not the end.

And fuckin' Skrtel, Wilbury.
Btw, literally no one in this thread has said Richards was shut. Same with Lescott.

Lescott has gotten a lot of hate, people said he survives thanks to Kompany (he proved people wrong when Kompany was out). Richards was mostly early in the season.

I love it when City conceed a goal.

Joe Hart goes absolutely mental at his defence. I'd never accuse him of lacking passion.

Do hookers show emotion? They're just there for the money.

It's disingenuous to think it was only money that was the motivating factor, or even arguably the most important factor, for Nasri or Clichy; Man City were far more likely to attain success and challenge for titles than Arsenal would be. If Arsenal offered the same wages, would he have stayed? I don't think so.

Dzeko was written off so quickly after last season. No one gave him time to adapt and yes sometimes he looks awful but sometimes he looks brilliant. Consistently inconsistent.

Alright Savic was a joke:

And that isn't true for most PL teams? You think all Liverpool players are life-long Liverpool fans? Chelsea, Arsenal?

City has fantastic infrastructure. A very good team morale (seemingly). A world top-5 individually talented squad. There is literally only one thing that they can't offer yet, and that's consistently Champions League playoffs.

Just had a look at upcoming games and was pleasantly surprised with whats going down tomorrow. Porto vs. Benfica, should be a good one.

Did he really say that?

It wasn't that exaggerated. it was De Gea has been unarguably shit this season, he might be good in the future but he's been awful, but he defended Savic for being thrown in at the deep end and showing promise. Admittedly he did say he had bottled it but I like taking the piss out of Kermit

Speaking of Savic, how is Coates doing in Liverpool? Injured a lot no? They were compared a lot last summer.

He's not been injured once. He just doesn't get a lot of game time because of how well our defence has played and given the fact that we've played strong squads when needed in cup competitions.

From the flashes we've seen of him he's been hit and miss. He was culpable for Stoke's opening goal in the Carling Cup, and he's had a couple of wobbles outside of that, but in general he's shown a lot of talent. Scored a goal, cleared one off the line against Chelsea and has good all round abilities.

If him and Savic were compared a lot in the summer then they shouldn't be going forwards. Coates looks a really promising talent whereas Savic, at this moment in time, looks a train wreck.

Now that Kermit is gone forever, I'm willing to give City some credit. They may not be the best team in the PL, but they deserve to be first for their consistency.

Case in point: AC Milan.

Better an Assassin than a templar.

That's all I've got.

10/10. For many reasons. ;)

Thanks. Savic is a bit raw. He's incredibly bad in the air and incredibly weak. He needs to gain a lot of muscles and learn how to head. Not sure if Mancini will have patience to wait for that to happen. You'd think the scouts would see how weak he is though.

Positional awareness and tackling is thankfully pretty good.

Oh they are the best team in the PL, and there's no denying that if they win then they win because they've been the best. But it's the first season we've ever been underdogs really and if we win the title it'll probably be the best achievement yet; against a side of City's calibre, fitness and spending power compared with our injury problems, a title win would be the absolute fucking best feeling in the world. That we're still only two points behind is just incredible.

There are loads of reasons people will join the other top clubs. Man United, Arsenal, Liverpool all have history behind them. United and Arsenal have well known managers and Arsenal in particular have a style which could attract a certain type of player.

City have money and potential.

Why would modern day players give a shit about how good the club was 20 years ago? Do you think Suarez joins Liverpool because of how good they used to be or because he has a chance to win a trophy now with them. Sure they might say that in the interviews and pressers but deep down you can tell they don't care.

Could someone get rid of the white from this picture please? I tried last time and it looked like I'd left sperm residue around my picture.

Leeds have history, I don't see people joining them? Arsenal's manager is well-known, not always good.... and really, City's style of football has dwarfed Arsenal's this season.

Saying people today join for history is like saying people didn't join City for money two seasons ago. They did. But really, today is a different thing.

The City team is more or less complete. There really is no reason to offer players crazy money anymore. There's literally at least one world class player on every position now. All needed now is gel, gel gel gel.

I rate a fully fit United higher! Their never give up attitude won them the title last season. I don't see that in City.

And I have no idea what's wrong with Chelsea? On paper their team is quite scary!

Paul Pogbas agent has said that his client is frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities with United. He's basically said that if Pogba doesn't get that then he'll look at offers from Italy. The agent his said that he's received offers from top Italian clubs guaranteeing Pogba first team football.

Would any of the big Italian clubs guarantee first team football to an unproven, albeit talented 18 year old?

Can Serie A gaf help me out?

Players will join clubs for money or trophies. Thats it.

Australia played Saudi Arabia here 2 days ago and the commentators were mentioning that none of the Saudi players play outside the Gulf States, not because they weren't good enough but because they get paid so damn much and their lives are so easy there's just not worth challenging yourself in Europe.

Haha, any comment from a City fan about the finances of the team are pure gold.
No reason? what about no way? City can't even pay the salaries wages with their complete income!

City will have to sell a lot of players in the summer, if they want to play in european football.

I think their players individually are better but no one has a better 'team'. Mental strength is just incredible, how quickly its instilled in youngsters and new players. Players like Ronaldo, Nani and Valencia have come along so much playing for United. Being from London I get called a glory hunter a fair bit of the time but I can honestly say I never regret that United are the team I fell for, I've been so proud of them this season (apart from the CL but that competitions for losers, Thursdays are my favourite)

It's a bunch of things with Chelsea; I don't think the main problem is the tactics and the personnel suited to those, however bad it looks sometimes. I think it's that a bunch of the players obviously have no respect for AVB, and when those players are the most influential and notable Chelsea players its almost impossible to have squad harmony.

He needs to be given at least another season.

Young players in the Serie A... as starters!? :p
First team football could be translated in a lot of things: first team football as Elia (bench), first team football as a cup player, etc.

He should stay at Manchester Utd, sign the contract and just shut the fuck up.

Obviously City need to offer competitive salary. But, two years ago they needed to offer £150k to a player Arsenal/Chelsea offered £100k in order for him to join City. It's not the case anymore.

The revenue is much higher this season, it it'll help with FFP.

It's Raiola being Raiola. He always does this, did the same with Ibra and Balotelli. Putting a lot of pressure on the club in order to get as high salary as possible.

There's a lot about him in the Ibra biography, Ibra described how he always got the maximum out of every negotiation. There was a piece about the Juventus negotation, where he suddenly said Ibra demanded a Ferrari Enzo (Ibra had no idea what he was talking about). There's like 200 cars of it. It took a couple of hours and Juventus had gotten their hands on one.

I think he said Juventus are after Pogba?

When United play at their best, which I think is usually for 10 minutes of the 90, I think they're the best team in England, just doesn't last long enough.

What United has is something I feel City both miss and can be good without. A pissed off asshole who can scream their players into action. In the end of the decisive Napoli game, and in the point losses against WBA and Everton, I felt someone needed to scream to the players to wake the fuck up. Something Ferdinand and Rooney both can do (and Ferguson).

Obviously their hot temper also has gotten them in a lot of trouble, so that's why I'm also glad City lack their personalities. Still, hotheads like that can be what decides the title outcome.

I can't picture Silva, Aguero, Milner, Barry or Nasri angry. And no one would understand what Tevez screamed.

well, merkel and el-shaarawy are 18 and start for milan . . . when we have half our team injured.

the answer is no lolz. unless by "top team" he means a club like udinese or napoli, though he would have to really break into the squad and impress from the start.

My jaw dropped when you said el-Shaarawy is 18, but I see he's 19½. Still a fantastic talent.

btw, Ibra was used as attacking midfielder in Sweden last night. Did a fantastic job. Maybe the new Seedorf in 5 years?

Cheers lads

Manager: It's been rumoured that Juventus are the team with the most interest in Pogba.

ibra kind of does play as an attacking midfielder for milan. he kind of just does whatever the hell he wants, including dropping into midfield. that's why it is so effective to have runners like prince or urby at CAM for us, because ibra drops back and dictates play and makes nice passes to players that occupy the space he leaves behind. what a player :)

He does, but he also goes back to be at the top when you guys have it in possession for longer moments. For crosses etc. In the new Sweden role, he never did that, not once. He just sat quietly in the back for all match. No goal threat whatsoever, just dirigating play. Scholes-esque crosses.

Whilst I understand your point about City being a more attractive proposition now in terms of their squad and ability to challenge for trophies, but any new players coming in still know that City are paying the rest of the squad huge wages and will subsequently expect that too.

Just because you're now in the hunt for silverware doesn't mean you won't have to pay ridiculously high wages to incoming players. That's something the club can't eradicate over the course of a couple of seasons.

They'll expect a larger wage at City than they would Arsenal for example.

Not so cool to use Kermits RL image I think. Footy banter is all good but I dont think its mellow to bring his RL identity into it. Besides its much funnier with a picture of Kermit the muppet in it :)
