So what will the Saints punishment be? I've seen mention of anything ranging from multiple game bans to loss of picks and removal of franchise tag for this year.

"Very good" QB.
Caught being dirty.

Saints management is on a roll!

And we'd be happy to give up some picks for that that very good QB you have.

I'm not saying it's right. Or ethical. But the NFL isn't little league football with neighborhood dads playing head coach. This is the business of winning. If that means stepping over some line, you do it.

Bounties, cheap shots, whatever you want to call them, they are a part of this game. It is an ugly tradition that was exposed Friday with Williams front and center from his time coaching the defense in New Orleans. But don't peg this on him alone. You will find it in plenty of NFL cities.

Win or else. That's the drill.

Matt Bowen on the Saints Situation.

lol saints getting busted. i bet the rest the league got something money going on, but aren't stupid enough to get caught. just like when pats were stupid enough to get busted for something everyone does. fucking amateurs

About to get into the 1st season of Game of Thrones.Thoughts?

It's a pretty good adaptation of the books. The show is good fantasy fair. Not quite up to par with the best HBO shows, but it's miles better than shit like True Blood. I think a good comparison would be Rome.

Much better than the books. You get the great Martin world without the awful Martin prose.

you trade in his verbosity for some real clunky exposition in the show or like critics have dubbed it sexposition.

Who doesn't love some good sexposition? I personally find that the only time one truly listens to my family's complicated ancestral rivalry is when I'm paying for sex with a red head with amazing breasts.

and the long term future of GoT on HBO is questionable at best. The series has to be expensive as hell to produce. Is HBO going to commit to 7 seasons or so for it? Will that fatass GURM even finish the series at his sluggish pace? The TV show may outpace him when it's all said and done. And their is a huge nose dive in quality from the 3rd to 4th and 5th books.

The shows writers are going to earn their keep to turn books 4 and 5 into a semi interesting narrative on a tv show.

Does that show start up again soon?

4/1/12

I hope they finish it. Like I said, the world and stories are interesting but I can't put up with the writing anymore. I made it a couple hundred pages into Dragons and just had to put it down. Awful writer.

Every injury during a Saints game this year we're going to hear about bounties. One more of the many things they can jam into their cycle of topics.

And I think you'll have tin foil hat fans that will insist there's a bounty anytime a player gets injured after contact, regardless of the teams.

I hope the Saints front office is happy with the personnel they have because they aren't going to get any impact players over the next couple of drafts.

lol @ deion sanders calling his wife the #1 gold digger of the year

And in reply she's suing him for $200 million. Classy.

As for the Saints stuff, I find it funny that they're getting destroyed so hard for this, since I'm sure that motivational tools similar to this are present in most if not all NFL locker rooms. No team in this league is clean.

I'm going to start collecting names for people that want to participate in the 2012 GAF NFL mock draft. I'll do it like last year: I won't assume you're in unless you tell me. It should be considered a consensus pick - team members should collaborate to choose someone instead of one just blurting out their pick. My daughter is impatient and owns my iPad, so i'm going to be less patient in waiting; say, four hours selection time per team. You don't make the time, you get skipped.

Raiders fans - You don't have to.

Should we do trades? Since it's pretty certain that the Rams are moving out of the two spot?

No. Because we don't have anything to trade and it gets messy. Rams age should just try to determine who gets drafted with the Rams pick. Also, let's keep the regulars to their teams for now. We'll fill it out once the main ones are complete.

Paying people to injure other people seems kind of illegal to me.

Lost draft picks and suspensions aren't the half of it. If there's any justice, multiple people in the Saints' organization are going to jail.

That's really a bad attitude to have about it. Other teams might have done something similar at some point, but there is no evidence and I refuse to believe that everyone in the NFL is that malicious that they are putting bounties on injuring fellow NFL players. Going for wins and trying to actually hurt the other team are two different things.

Yes and they gave it to the Pats for good sportmanship.

I don't get the conflation of the two misdeeds. I loathe the pats (was a big fan of the Rams back with the Greatest Show on Turf; I still think the NFL should strip their title), and Spygate was bad in the context of football, but it doesn't come anywhere near the heinousness of intentionally injuring others. Breaking NFL regulations pales in comparison to conspiracy to commit assault.

Conspiracy to commit assault? Give me a break.

Every blitz design is really a murder diagram!

San Diego Chargers general manager A.J. Smith hinted Friday that the team isn't likely to apply the franchise tag to receiver Vincent Jackson, but added that the move is still an option.

"Right now, I'm not real comfortable with what I see for a tag, but we haven't ruled it out yet because we have so much to do, and we have different levels of plans that we do with different scenarios," Smith said in an interview with XERPS-AM radio in San Diego

Smith confirmed that Jackson, who is set to become a free agent, is the sole member of the Chargers who is being considered for the tag. NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora has reported that the team would have to pay around $14 million to apply the tag to Jackson for a second consecutive year.

Smith said the final decision would be made Monday, "but I can tell you right out front, it's highly unlikely, and every time I look at that situation, I don't like it, I still don't like it, but we'll see. We'll see where that goes."

Smith also addressed the status of defensive lineman Luis Castillo, who, according to Chargers director of public relations Bill Johnston, will be released before March 13.

"We're not going to bring him back at his present contract," Smith said. "So he will be out there in the market to have a new contract with us or another team, and we'll take it from there," Smith said.
