Is there a difference between the franchise tag and the 'exclusive rights' tag?

If not, why has ESPN used the former when discussing every other player this offseason but the latter just for Brees?

Is there a difference between the franchise tag and the 'exclusive rights' tag?

Higher payday and inability to talk to other teams.

A league source tells PFT that it’s the exclusive version of the tag, which prevents Brees from talking to any other teams — and which eliminates the risk of some other franchise offering Brees a huge contract and giving the Saints two first-round picks if the Saints choose not to match.

It’s not a surprise. The non-exclusive tag for quarterbacks will cost roughly $14.4 million for 2012. As explained Friday, just before the bounty brouhaha broke, the exclusive tender is expected to land between $15 million and $16 million, due in large part to the coming release of Peyton Manning and the recent restructuring of Ben Roethlisberger’s contract.

Haven't been around and won't be too much, busy semester, but what is the mock draft all about?

If someone could give the sparknotes or a link thatd be great.

We dont got shit to do, so we run a mock draft on what we think our team should take. Then after the draft we laugh at how horrible we did in comparison to what happened in real life.

Back from the ER. My son broke his collar bone during a hockey game tonight. Checked into the boards while making a perfect pass that led to a score. He's majorly bummed that he can't play in tomorrow's championship game.

This bitch is so into me it's sort of a turn off.
Don't do it.

Damn, injuries are always a bummer. Hopefully he recovers quick and the championship win tomorrow will ease the pain a bit.

*sigh* finally caught up on all the Bounty-gate nonsense. Good fucking riddance to GW. Thank god we gave him the boot. It's a damn shame though that this all happened under Payton's watch. Plus Brees taking the franchise tag, one of the big 5 is gonna go out. This fucking week, man. Regardless, however, there is still no asterisk next to the SB XLIV win, else you're gonna have to interview every other DC in NFL history to make sure there were no other "bounty" systems in place, of which I'm sure there were a few.
