Simpsons Tapped Out
Hasn't the game been pulled due to connection issues? I assume playing is going to be quite difficult at present.

Was shaky on Saturday, but Sunday and Today have been fine. I almost always get the "Reconnect" when first launching the app, and its down to a 30 second wait instead of 60, but after that I'm in and able to play just fine.

If anyone else would like to add me, my origin ID is TheFirstZombie

Thanks

Does anyone know why the game "Mass Effect: Galaxy" isn't available to buy anymore? I just recently got an iphone and in anticipation of ME3 I wanted to play this game (even though I know that it isn't very good).

Gave up on The Simpsons game. I couldn't connect at all over the weekend, finally got connected in today and my save was lost.

It is not the type of game I usually like/play but the Simpsons name made me want to give it a try.

Is this just an action game? 'Cause, I mean, maybe I'm alone, but the action isn't all that great in Mass Effect and it's certainly not why I play. If that's all this is, think I'll skip.

Probably. It has an upgrade system from the description. And you can transfer over stuff to the main game. It's made by the Dead Space iOS people.

Any idea if this is any good or not? I trust your judgement because of your name.

To be honest, I haven't finished it. I played for over an hour and found the story interesting but it didn't have the best translation. Also, I stopped because at the time I wasn't in the mood for a visual novel. Not because I thought it was bad.

So torn on Mass Effect. On the one hand, I love the ME universe and the game does look gorgeous from the shots. But on the other hand, it's made by the Dead Space people, and that game was terrible, GameLoft level boring.so if this is the same shit of corridors and ambushes then it's going to be very boring. Might wait for impressions. People that hated Dead Pace need to say so when they're giving impressions. Because I can't trust the people that liked that game.

It's a shame really, you could do a really excellent text (conversation), and galaxy exploration/resource game in the ME universe that could be something really different and unique. But instead, we'll probably get Shadowgun lite. Ugh.

I thought single stick mode in Beat Hazard would be old school only-fire-where-you're-looking style with appropriately changed enemy waves, health and weapon spread but instead it just makes the craft auto aim any and all enemies? Meh, oh well...

I'm not sure how many people here have played Crystal Defenders: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/crystal-defenders/id300186798?mt=8 but the game will soon be receiving a huge 3.0 update, according to Square Enix mobile games producer, Takehiro Ando, in his weekly column "Smartphone Game Revolution" for Famitsu http://app.famitsu.com/20120305_40257/. The last huge update it got, 2.0, introduced full screen gaming and a full touch interface. Apparently prior to version 2.0 half the screen was for controls and the other was actual game screen, which got received very badly, and on the same post he says SE takes App Store reviews very very seriously, which is why it got the 2.0 update. After the 2.0 update sales increased by about 5, and as a reward to customers and presumably to attract even more users they're making the 3.0 update.

Still my fav twin stick shooter atm. Just awesome. Free = crazy deal. Takes some getting used to but I highly recommend it.

This and "Aaaa..." are my fav games atm and fucking hell it deserves more votes on the TouchArcade game of the month: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=124222 .

When I last played it, I remember seeing how much I was getting per iteration, how much I had to spend to not die in the arse and how much the next-tier of weapons/armour were. It was far, far too much of a grind (or seemed like such) at the time that it was enough to deter me from playing it again. Things may have changed or my memory may just be complete horseshit, but I definitely remember thinking at the time that the only way to progress without heavy grinding was to buy IAC.

This is where many people misinterpret Infinity Blade. The game is about the fighting. If IB's swordfighting isn't your thing and you don't enjoy trying to get better at it, this is not your type of game. The story, while awesome, is quite short and the levelling up and getting gear is icing on the cake. 'Grinding' through IB makes about as much sense as 'grinding' through Tekken or Street Fighter, you're working towards a goal that isn't there. In regards to the game becoming so difficult that you had to spend more money than you could come across: I don't know what you did wrong but neither IB nor IB2 have this issue at all. Only the God King and a few end bosses in IB2 are meant to be difficult and the games are clearly constructed for iteration but you don't even have to level up and gear up all that much in order to beat them (and if you're really good, you CAN beat them with the most basic of gear).

I've played the crap out of both games and the IAP have never been anything more than unlockable cheats. (never touched any of them except once I bought $1 of gold while doing IB2's insanely hard New Game+, something which I regretted quickly after when I realized it made the New Game+, which has an awesomely tuned difficulty level for hardcore players, a bit too easy)

Let's not hate on games that do IAP as unlockable cheats that don't affect competitive play or as skins that don't even affect gameplay. There's far too many terrible offenders that really scam you with IAP which deserve our criticism a lot more.

I have enough credits on Free My Apps for a game. It's between Run Roo Run or Where's My Water. Is there a general consensus on which is better?

Where's my Water is the second best iOS game behind Spider.

Thanks. I really liked Cut The Rope and this looks like a similar puzzler so I'm sure I'll enjoy it

What's Spider? Searching the iOS store just brings up some screensaver type app with a spider on it? :s

Woo! A prequel (spinoff?) of Squids is in the works and it will focus on Clint prior to the first game. It'll be called Squids Western Kingdom. Details are here: http://toucharcade.com/2012/03/05/gdc-2012-squids-sequel-squids-western-kingdom-coming-this-summer/

I guess Squids was a success if they are making a second one and talking about expanding the IP even further. I really liked the first game, it looked beautiful on the iPad and played great also.

Saw that earlier and couldn't be happier! I still have to finish the first game. I spend too much time trying to get 3 stars on everything.

It's a adventure platformer that stars a spider. The game is titled Spider: Secret of Bryce Manor. It's from the same developers that made the recent Waking Mars.

The developer of the excellent strategy game Ravenmark posted a pretty big update on TA filled with highlights and screens of the just released Suneaters Campaign (which is free iirc), containing 10-15 hours of gameplay. Worth clicking by if you were interested in the app.

They mentioned most likely going to a separate app after this expansion for the sequel, to generate the funds necessarily to support it, as the original's sales have been nothing exceptional, but not horrible either, and they feel further updates in the current app are not sustainable. I'm more than pleased to support them via a new app for further content, so no problems here.

Your link sends me to a Wario64 post in a 360 thread?

Really happy about this news and the sequel being announced. I absolutely loved Ravenmark it is IMO the best strategy game on iOS by a mile.

Spider The Secret of Bryce Manor is an outstanding puzzle/platform? type game. Get it if you want to see storytelling like you haven't seen before. It also has great gameplay.

I don't get the Dead Space hate.

Sure, it's far from great, and it definitely hovers in the mediocre territory, but terrible? The level design is incredibly bland, I agree, but at least the game has good graphics (at least by the time it was released), a cool atmosphere, some (albeit few) exciting setpieces, great controls, satisfying dismemberment gameplay and a mildly interesting story. It sure is a better game than Shadowgun, which by comparison had terrible gunplay, terrible AI (didn't matter much in DS) and a level design almost as generic.

About Mass Effect, I'm fine with a shooter, as long as it's a solid shooter. AI seems terribad from some videos I saw though, so I guess I'll wait for reviews too. I like your idea though. A 4X strategy game (like Starbase Orion) could be cool too.

Agree with Jedeye. Cookie cutter games like Dead Space and Shadowgun do absolutely nothing for me. I really hope Mass Effect has a little more of a spin and flow to it, because I have been severely disappointed by the "big, console-like" games so far.

not digging the controls for Beat Hazard.

for a hectic game, I don't like to keep re-swipping my finger to a direction I want to go to. why can't it be like Cave shooter, where ur finger only covers small portion of the screen but moving ur finger little bit could make ur character move to the other side of the screen.

I tried fixed stick position that was a mess

i pretty much pass on anything with virtual controls no matter how good it looks. They make the game a chore to play and sap any fun out cause you're too busy focusing on the controls.

This game is awesome. First kairosoft game that I played that is full screen on a tablet (last game I played was Grand Prix Story on my iPad 1). You guys definitely need to get this when it releases on iOS.

Will Kairosoft finally go universal? Or is it just the smartphone app on your tablet?

Also, are the mechanics different than Grand Prix Story? For some reason that just did not click with me.

One of the best games on iOS, hands-down. Buy this game people!!!

IAPs ruined Infinity Blade for me. Utterly ridiculous how much some of the later gear costs. You play and play and play and barely have enough for a stupid sword or shield. I've since liberated myself from this abomination of a game. It was great until that added gold and placed the 'free' gear behind impenetrable walls of money.

I'd beaten them both and unlocked New Game+. I ran through a few lives of that and found that it would take a stupid amount of playthroughs to earn the next level weapons that weren't all that much more powerful than what I had. Why call a game Infinity Blade when to earn said weapon you have to play through far too many hours to earn?

Difficulty wasn't an issue. Having in-game items that were practically inaccessible without IAP was. I'll reinstall it so I can make my point a little clearer (it's been around 3mo since I played it) and then we'll be able to have a proper discussion rather than a vague recollection on my part.

Hell yeah.

There was some of lag in the registering of some achievements and I replayed a couple of stages more than necessary, but all's good. Lovely game.
