Dota 2 Beta Thread: [Brewmaster]

Not abuse, don't sweat it. Valve specifically left this bug in because they found it hilarious, and it's impractical and difficult to do.

Yea I thought so, the timing is pretty hard, but when you get it.. oh man it's funny. They were pretty hard to pull off, specially since I'm not in a clan/team or anything, was just me and my friend.

I wonder if Valve takes the additional info can enter into account. So when people report for abuse it can be disclaimed. Same for other fake reports.

Edit: Also my Dota 2 Test updated with another 7.4 MB download again, probably nothing though.

It has begun:

Really hope I get this for a Clinkz-fucker i had to play with today. Called mid before him, he picks clinkz last and refuses to leave mid.

When I stayed in the lane hoping him to give up, he starts itentionally feeding, the sad thing was that we would probably won without him. The game was a 60 minute waste of my time...

You can report people long after you've played with them. Just go through match history..

Reading everywhere that A LOT of people got in again. Wonder how much it will peak at this weekend on Steam stats. Highest so far is 28 thousand I think. A little over.

So I guess I just want to make sure my head is in the right place on Razor. Everyone seems to suggest building him tanky. Is that because you're assumed to get your big boost on damage through link? I've been ignoring link early in favor of the passive (mostly for the movement) but I don't feel like I'm getting that much damage out in fights.

I got into the beta on Friday and I've played the game daily since then. It's still all very new to me but I seem to be able to hold my own now (I'm using Lich based on a recommendation in this thread). I'm finding it a lot of fun. Only problem I've encountered is that there are leavers in almost every single pub game I've played.
Awesome, I got in to the beta.

Oh wait, the beta client is PC-only.

=/
Bootcamp it up. My friend plays with me on a Macbook just fine.

Yes, also the tankiness gives enough survivability to keep the link up as well as reduce armor with the ultimate. I tend to max the passive out last on him, get a vanguard then manta, then black king bar.

Played a MM with some Gaffers which was awesome.

Solo queued afterwards and it was horrible.

Was top lane as Tide with AM against Viper and Witch Doctor. Easily the worst experience of my life.

The last game I had with Dreams-Visions and GreatDeceiver was a bit dissapointing. GreatDeceiver had an amazing farm with Doom Bringer, but our Axe got all angry after a couple of team fights and not participate with us. And then we lost.

Dreams, do you by any chance use your mouse to use your skills? There was one particular moment when you were kinda just following the hero while we were all expecting you to impale or hex him :p

Just had my first MOBA experience ever.

What a cool and crazy game. I play against bots, and the people I played with were pretty understanding. By the end I actually helped a little! I used Sven.

Any advice on what hero to focus on while I am supernoob? I'm looking for the most basic, easy-mode guy and role, there are 4 other peeps so I need to focus on just leaning the mechanics, I'll worry about nuance later. I'm reading the basic stuff at playdota, so don't waste too much breath on me :-)

I hope there is a special place in hell for quitters.
Every day they'll be told to pack their things for transit to the pearly gates at sundown. And every evening they'll have their luggage tossed into the abyss, only to be restored in whole at midnight, like a philanthropic pyromaniac's liver.

yoyo. I can't remember. who was I playing as? and when did we play?

If it was yesterday around this time, I was stuck on the phone and trying to play and do business at the same time. It was tough. I'm sure the next time around, it'll be more typical.

When you connect to a game via ip to spectate is it still with delay or is it as if you had joined the game? How do we find the ip anyways?

This match was amazing. That Skeletong King was so powerful, never seen one that good. He was leading us the entire game and set up smoke ganks etc (never done this myself, because I only play pub games and nobody listens).

The Col tag looks familiar is he from a pro team? I looked up the tag and found Complexity but he's not listed in the roster with the name he used in our game.

Hm looked at his profile and doesn't look like it.

Apparently Axe was picked up by DK today in the G1 League (I can't seem to find the VOD anywhere, though). Maybe he will be a real pick once tournies switch to 6.73.

Thank you for answering :)

Is there any other guide for heroes specifically. I have played this nord melee warrior and the poison spider hero (sorry don't know the names just yet)

playdota has guides for each hero..However, given that you don't even know the names of the characters, I would suggest going over to youtube and watching Purge's videos as a supplement to reading the guides. He has videos where he plays as a specific hero and talks through his thought process while playing.

So I got into the beta over the weekend. Played it for three hours.

Seems like a pretty fun game.

...except for the toxic fucking individuals that play this game. Like...Xbox Live can't even compare to the ridiculous sub-humans that play this.

If there was some manner of plague that somehow instantly killed all of the people playing DOTA 2 right now; yes...a few good people would die, but in the end, the sheer volume of assholes that were taken out with that small handful of good people would make that loss incredibly acceptable.

I just...wow.

I have never experienced anything like it in my life. It was like a cartoon.

Sorry to hear that :<. Stick to playing with gaffers if you can help it, until you're ready and willing to solo queue.

Thought this might come in useful for someone (i.e someone farming the jungle), a toggle auto attack cfg.
//Toggle Autoattack
alias autoattack "autoattackon"
alias autoattackon "dota_player_units_auto_attack 1; alias autoattack autoattackoff;echo !!!Auto_Attack_ON"
alias autoattackoff "dota_player_units_auto_attack 0; alias autoattack autoattackon;echo !!!Auto_Attack_OFF"
bind "MOUSE5" "autoattack"

Got yelled at a couple nights ago for not gushing Venomancer's wards down. I thought that was amusing. Seems like the most vocal asshats in this game have absolutely no idea what they're talking about..

Play with people you know and you're much less likely to get yelled at. Unless the people you know like to yell at you, in which case you're probably looking at the same situation either way.

Here are the facts:
-You are certainly not good at this game yet
-You're probably not even remotely competent at it
-If you lose right now, it's likely to be at least partially your fault
-People don't like to lose
-People don't ever think it's THEIR fault that the game is lost
-When a game is lost, it must be SOMEBODY's fault
-They will blame you
-Vitriol is one of the three resources to manage in this game (along with gold and xp)

It'll get better, but not until you do.
