Wii U Speculation Thread The Third: Casting Dreams in The Castle of Miyamoto

NDAs have to have an end date where they lift

Nintendo still has investor meetings but maybe the hush hush is to make the E3 presentation as fresh as possible it could be a major blowout with huge hype for holiday sales

my fear is the WiiU will be sold out everywhere and it will be Wii Launch all over again :(

Well, that depends on two things.

1. Launch date. The closer to the holidays it is, the more likely it'll be sold out.
2. Compelling launch software. If they make another WiiSports like hit, then we're in for a fun ride.

what would be the point of asking if they cannot answer because of NDAs?

they probably do ask in interviews but they are told they can't talk about it so its left out
What to do in such scenarios is to ask very stupid yet legitimate questions that more or less forces the interviewee to provide some kind of reply other than "no comment" to prevent utter confusion and delay amongst the audience.

One of these questions could be if someone happens to land an interview with Reggie Fils-Aime prior to E3. Then you could in a clever way ask if Wii U's hardware is in terms of let's say FLOPS more impressive than that of Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, or if you wanna play real dumbfounded, you could ask if it's weaker than Wii (this sort of question would probably be most appropriate in a casual magazine such as Reader's Digest). I wonder if Reggie still would reply with "we don't really emphasize the bits and processing power in our consoles, for us what tools we can provide for developers to envision a greater gameplay experience is more important" or something like that.

Oh, I can answer these, too.

"The Wii U is out next generation console and we're very excited by the opportunities new hardware will bring to our game creation"

Reggie: "Absolutely" without saying anything else

Reggie: "It is a major step ahead of Wii we checked all the boxes"

wut? :|

Haha. I don't think that another Sports game is going to be what launches the hardware.
It'll be a unique game that really shows the strengths of the system.

Despite being not great, Nintendo still had the best E3.

How has the general E3 consensus gone?

2006 - ???
2007 - Microsoft
2008 - Microsoft
2009 - Microsoft
2010 - Nintendo
2011 - Nintendo

??

It seems like it'll be close between MS and Nintendo this year. Who knows what Sony's doing.

Nintendo took 2006 easy. I think 2009 was a toss up.

If I were one of the console manufacturers who just announced a new console for an upcoming generation I'd have a hardware blog where I can keep the hardcore fans following the company updated on the latest events. I'd detail the specs of each dev kit, when they are released, what's going on, and so on and so forth. Take them through the process of releasing a console.

Transparency would be so much cooler.

It's also a good way to ruin your business...
There's a reason no company out there does that.

Sweet news on Batman AC if true. I almost bought the PC version a few weeks back but I decided to wait and see how the Wii U version turns out.

Btw, Rein speaking fondly of Nintendo hardware seems almost... unnatural.

Its probably because he's the one who's been pushing Nintendo to conform to UE4....if the rumors are true of course.

and you would have 5 other hardware makers beat you to launch within a few weeks of your hardware launch copying every feature step by step

Could you imagine the daily or weekly meltdowns? Gaming news sites hiring tech-heads to interpret/translate/opine on latest developments?

It'd be incredible to watch. Like a trainwreck.

Sony's E3s have been.. I don't know, I like them when they begin but then it gets boring.

Micrsoft just shocks me with how hard they try to push Kinect. Oh, don't forget that we will se Black Ops 2 for the first time.

And Nintendo.. you never know.

I want more Kinectimals and such. It'd be delicious to watch. :)

So how sure are we that UE4 is going to be running on Wii U in a way that isn't gimped? Can't keep up with this/these thread(s)...

Black Ops 2 on WiiU

yes please

That's creepy, man.
Leave that little girl alone!
:P

No no no.. I'd be more interested in people online making musical remixes of the groans and whines of disgust from the audience whenever they show-off their "casual" products!

Although more gif-able moments like that could be quite hysterical..

Well we arn't sure at all. If it does run its obviously going to be at lower quality than the other future consoles, if that's what you mean by gimped.

I would not say gimped, if it happens it wont be the highest settings but maybe low to mid settings not gimped or lowest settings

for me as long as it runs the damn thing we can check that box and move on

I am more excited by other engines stepping up their game this gen

my Reggie is ready
