denver post is just making shit up now. they say the niners are in the peypey race. fucking stupid.... why would we have a contract for alex on the table if we were interested in manning? it's like people want manning to go to the niners so badly but we don't need him!

Just broke the Mont Blanc pen my dad gave me. Always assumed that shit was durable but turns out they're made of a brittle resin.

At least repairs are cheap.

They offered the contract to Alex, knowing he won't sign it because he wants more money. Now they don't look like assholes if they suddenly sign Peyton. After Harbaugh been saying "Alex is my man!" all season/ off season, he can say that he gave Alex a fair offer and went with Peyton since Alex didn't sign the contract.

P.S. I love Alex, and want him back if we don't get pey pey. That's just some reasoning they can use lol

You're crazy. Niners get peyton and will win the title next year if he's healthy.

Weird signing, Moss hasn't played in a year I wonder if he could help the 49ers at all.

He can't hurt, the 49ers WRs corp is pure shit (and if he does pull the crap he's pulled in the past, Harbaugh will cut him outright).

If anything, it'll improve the 49ers Red Zone offense.

there has been my issue from day 1. a healthy peypey? sign me up! i just don't think he's healthy and i don't think he ever will be back to himself

Brandon Stokely was playing catch with him on Saturday in Denver. He said that he looked great and was throwing as good as he was 6 years ago. He may not be 100%, but he is throwing just fine and is healthy. I'm sure he will be plenty ready when preseason rolls around.

fair enough, but I think it's worth the roll of the dice.

well my point is we don't really need peypey to compete. now look at a team like the cards. their entire season rests on getting peyton. if they don't land him, they're fucked. they've alienated their 2 QB's and have no plan beyond getting peyton.

niners don't get peypey? no biggie. alex already took us to the NFC title game and i have no reason to believe we won't get back there again

peypey aint going to the Cards. They don't have the money unless they free up a shit ton of players.

It'll come down to Denver, Tennessee, and Miami.

Nonsense, we can afford him easily. Denver could do it without restructures and such, but we can still easily have the room for him. Much of the changes we will do regardless of Manning coming or not such as cutting Levi's deal.

I'm confident the Cards can win out over Denver, Tennessee or Miami. Houston is the only one that scares me.

We need to grab Winston ASAP. LT would be much nicer but we really need an upgrade at RT too and he's a huge upgrade over Keith. Better protection will help entice Manning more but it would also make me feel MUCH better about not getting him. Upgrading the tackles will improve our offense so much regardless who's slinging the ball.

I like Alex, but the question is can he get over that hump? Or is it going to be like Sanchez?

What happens when the Cards don't get him? Do they hang on to Kolb? Curious as to what they will do.

sanchez isn't in alex smiths league. sanchez best rating of his career was a 78, and that is with a great D, dominant run game and good receivers. alex succeeded last year with a great D, great special teams, no receivers and a decent running game.

Sanchez is known for ints and Alex had what? 3 all of last year? Yea, Sanchez is not a good comparison.

Over $16 million of the cap?

I love how you act like we're the 1-6 start of the season Cards and not the 7 of the last 9 finish. Our defense is capable of carrying the O now or at least keeping us in the game just like the Niners or Ravens. If we make some upgrades at OL and snag a #2 WR, you guys aren't favorites of shit regardless of whether we have Skelton or Manning behind center.

If we don't get him, then yes, we would keep Kolb. As we should considering how much we spent on him. It's insane to not give him a chance with a proper off season before we cut ties unless we get someone like Manning. Kolb showed nice progress that second half of the Cowboys game. I would have liked to see what he could have done the rest of the season if he didn't get injured. Honestly, his durability is my largest concern at this point. Fortunately, I think Skelton can be a good QB in time so I'm not really worried either way.

Agree they will compete, but I honestly never believed Alex can take them over the hump (and said as much during the season last year). And I still don't believe it.

lololol

look at who you played in your last 9 games! you don't have the money to get peyton AND get any meaningful offensive lineman. this is the niners division to lose! i know it hurts to say it, but we have the best team in the division and the 2nd best team isn't really close to us. hear me now and believe me later!

Moss's signing really helps the 49ers in the Red Zone, a part of the field they were fucking terrible in.

He's 6-4 and is currently the only WR on the 49ers roster who understands the concept of jumping up to catch a pass (Joshua Morgan does as well, but he's a free agent).

Even if he's not the deep threat he was in the past, his presence will help in the Red Zone a fuck-ton.

So does this spell the end for Ginn and Morgan? I feel like we need to sign at least one of them and still draft a WR in the first or second round. Fuck our receivers are pathetic.

Everybody see the skins and cowboys responses? Good stuff so glad we have Bruce Allen as our GM who knows what vinny would have done in this scenario. Basically told the league to put it in writing so we can then use it against ya in court ;)

Ginn is still neede for special teams. morgan probably done.

Moss could fill the role Burress did for Jets in the red zone.

No.

Ginn, as we saw in the NFC Championship game, is to important in the return game.

And the 49ers really don't want Morgan to hit free agency.

I see that free agency doesn't start till 4pm eastern tomorrow. Didn't it used to always start at midnight? I remember a lot of 12:01am signings in the past.

Everybody see the skins and cowboys responses? Good stuff so glad we have a ex lawyer for a GM. Basically told the league to put it in writing so we can then use it against ya in court ;)

If only Al Davis was still here, I'm sure he would have loved to join in a lawsuit against the league.
