Yes they can. Rumors are Peppers will restructure his contract if the Bears land Williams. The problem is getting both guys will be expensive, so Emery is going to have to be able to draft well to get more player replacements!

Wish you the best of luck with Mario's toe and pectoral

I love free agency so much. Watching shittily run teams scramble for the cast aside scraps of other shittily run teams never ceases to be amusing.

Looks like Bucs management already gave Schiano the bad news on how the Bucs approach free agency.

Wow, I just don't know what to say

I want more lions contract or speculation action! No news makes me feel like we'll lose all of our free agents except for Eric Wright and that we will guarantee him 8 million per year.

I just don't understand what they see in Wright. Anytime he was matched up against even a decent QB/WR, he gets destroyed. I'm sure he is a nice person, but fuck him as a player. Go away and play for Chicago or something

As a Niners fan not sure how I feel about the signing of Moss. If he plays even half as well as his record setting year when he played for the patriots I will be pleased. On the other hand, the hand I am leaning toward, he has poor attitude more often than I would like to see. Moss gives up on plays, scared to go over the middle for tough catches and locker room presence is crap. We all know that as fast as he can be or his ability to make big catches one on one, can and will Alex Smith even deliver him the ball? I am not sure about this. Once Moss starts NOT getting the ball then it's back to poor attitude.

My other, and even bigger concern, is the lack of a good secondary. Need to get good corners and with Rogers a free agent what are their plans?

I actually like this deal TBH. If it doesn't work out, he can easily be cut since it's a 1 year deal. Rumor has it that it's incentive laden like Braylon Edwards' contract so hopefully it has minimal impact on their salary cap. This signing also allows for the Niners to go into the draft in a position to pick best available talent rather than drafting on a single positional need. People seem to forget that despite the WR core being thin, there is still a need to shore up our offensive line (especially at RG- I'm not wild about Staley nor Anthony Davis either) and perhaps even add a bit more depth in the secondary. It's a smart gamble with very little risk. This move however does kind of signify that either Ginn or Morgan won't be back (one of the two- If I had to choose, I'd keep Morgan as it seems like he was about to break out before he was going down- Good returners can be had later on in the draft).

See this is what makes me worried about breaking the bank to try to get him. I want Carl Nicks damnit!!

i was halfway joking with that post...but he HAS been hurt the past 2 seasons....

the real thing you should worry about is him deciding when he's going to play full speed and when not to. that's a legit concern.

That would be such a monster upgrade for the Bears. With Carimi developing and perhaps a decent lineman in the draft, that O-line would be significantly better. Maybe Bob was a prophet when he signed Nicks in the Madden league?

what is ridiculous? You think it was unclear? Or just the amount being used as punishment is too much?

Punishing them for working the cap to their advantages is pretty ridiculous. It's not their fault they worked the game. hate the game not the player. Cap get works like 5 dollar trick year and out, why punish for this?

You dont understand why the league would not want teams to use an uncapped year to circumvent futures years salary cap?

As mentioned, it's a one year deal. Moss fucks up, he's hanging out with Braylon.

The 49ers at least will have a presence in the Red Zone now since Moss is 6-4 and actually knows how to jump and catch a ball, something the 49ers WRs don't have a clue on how to do.

That's right, FAs! Minney's in the cash game! Who wants to be part of the rebuilding effort? Who wants to get on the Ponder train?

I would agree except the league supposedly warned them multiple times. Upwards of "10" if "sources" are to be believed.

Also, complaining about collusion in an industry where there is a talent draft is fucking LAUGHABLE

If all 32 teams agreed to treat an uncapped year as a capped year (by not dumping contracts onto the uncapped year) and teams did it anyways, that's a problem.

I know why they don't want it to be, but it's still pretty shitty. Also like I said cap is a joke. Is Pittsburgh going to get a cap penalty for moving a bunch of money to 2014 because of the rumored 20 million cap rise?

Quite a few teams are guilty in this. Read the ESPN blog that I linked a few posts above. Quite a few teams UNDERSPENT during that year, that also is a "competitive advantage". But it's not even being mentioned.

Let's not mention that the chairman of the committee condemning Dallas/Wash is the owner of the Giants.... LOL

How you do know if the agreement was unanimous? I betting there is zero chance it was. Whats the point of the commish's office approving contracts, if such an agreement was valid, all these dumps should have been rejected.

It is one thing to work within the rules that they negotiated in the CBA, but it is totally different to use the fact that there was no cap for one year, when everyone knew there would be a cap coming back the next, to off load bad contracts and get themselves out of cap hell. All teams restructure contracts or cut player but there is lways some cap hit to doing that. The Skins did it during a year where there would be no hit, even though the league and other owners all said not to do stuff like that. Synder put his own team above the league, he should absolutely be punished for that.

The agreements don't have to be unanimous. I think the only decisions that require unanimity are new ownership. If all NFL proceedings required 100% agreement, the league would be as dead as Al Davis (who was the dissenting vote on every single vote that was made public).

In an interview with CBS5’s Kim Coyle on Sunday night, Smith said reports of an impasse over the length of his contract are “completely false.” Smith said he’s satisfied with the three-year deal on the table from the team and indicated he and his agent, Tom Condon, are working out the details.

Good...5 years would've been way too much. Now that's over, we can move onto getting Rogers signed and reloading via the draft.

Don't be salty GB is about to become irrelevant in the NFC North!

Enjoy Pierre Garcon.

So...what was the story with Larry? I was at the zoo and only caught bits and pieces. He posted his shit? Like, in anger or something? Was it a Flacco commentary?

he was posting about the frequency with which he moved his bowels, and the amount of time he spends on GAF while he was moving his bowels. one thing led to another and he posted a picture of a turd he was very proud of.

and don't be mad that GB has to draft it's own talent because people don't want to sign there in FA.

Did your kid like the zoo? I figured she was too young.

Larry posted one of his shits and people clicked on the link even though he fully disclosed. The reason? He thought its shape was something interesting. I did not see it so I can't comment.

She has now been to five zoos. She loves em. The Phoenix Zoo is especially nice for kids. They have a lot of nice touches (stairs to exhibits, glass barriers instead of concrete so short kids can see, etc) that made it more enjoyable for her.

I don't know if you're asking because you want to go to the zoo, but if so, buy a membership. We have one to the Cincy zoo (my wife and I are huge zoo fans) and not only does it get us in to that place for free, it also gets us half off at just about every other zoo in the country. It's a bargain!
