Tough call for me because I have the game pre-ordered for 29$, but it won't be the Deluxe edition.
So is the 3 day headstart worth the extra 50$ ? :/
Thanks, just noticed. The head start comes with all 3 versions.
The Collector's Edition is going to cost you $149.99, but ArenaNet certainly seems to be providing bang for your buck: a 10-inch statue of the iconic Rytlock Brimstone and his sword Sohothin, a custom frame with five Guild Wars 2 art prints, a book on the making of Guild Wars 2, a soundtrack CD, and five in-game items (including a mini Rytlock), all of which should make this a pretty tempting order for super fans of the game. The Digital Deluxe pre-purchase is only going to run you $79.99, and the Standard Edition will be $59.99 -- again, any three of those will secure you the Hero's Band, a place in beta events, and a three-day head start. Pre-ordering Guild Wars 2 from select retailers will reserve you a copy of the game at launch and entitle you to a one-day head start.
So...beta won't start until after April 10th? That's shitty.
I'll probably get digital deluxe.
£129?

Going to buy it :F

Although, will I need to pre-order from the GW2 site ?
I think that's what the wording makes it seem like, but I would think they would still do the end of march beta. It woul be kind of shitty of them to send an email out to the people who signed up yesterday and then come out with this the day after saying basically it was pointless to sign up and the betas won't happen til april.
Seems like it's just a pet or something... probably won't have a big impact on balance or anything. There will probably be an equivalent skill with a different effect in game.CE for me. I can't miss out on the art book, plus with no monthly fee on a game I'll spend forever on I can justify a $150 price.
The elite skill in the DD and CE is odd, though. I'm almost afraid to go over to GW2Guru to see the reaction.

I was just actually rethinking the DD myself. Its seems like your paying to test out some of the stores items. The banker and the pvp and guild boost all are limited use and seem like they will be in the store. May just be getting the basic edition.Well, I thought I was going to get the CE, seeing as I had it for Guild Wars 1, but at $90 extra, apparently I was lying to myself. Especially since I'll most likely end up buying character slots to play all the classes. The DD edition looks a little disappointing, to be honest. Most of the things in it are temporary. It would have been nice to have digital versions of the book or the soundtrack, or some extra character slots.
How did you manage to get that?
The youtube link to it was posted yesterday. Here it is in case you missed it.

I think the only one I would be tempted in is the digital deluxe version but since all the items are temporary might just end up with the regular.

Kind of conflicting though since they said "all" betas. An "except for the sign-ups beta" would be an odd supplement. We'll see but I would anticipate that they don't segment as they want pre-orders more then free beta players.I think that's what the wording makes it seem like, but I would think they would still do the end of march beta. There is no way that pet elite will be viable though. The normal edition plebeians will bitch up a storm if it is an optimal skill to use in a build and it will get nerfed into the ground.

I'm getting the standard release. Al the deluxe stuff is consumable or timed stuff barring that elite.

Could be. But poor wording on their part if true. They could also go the other way and the beta is sign-ups + pre-order. Somebody twitter them.I would think if they cancelled out the march beta that they wouldn't intentially mention that they can't invite all of the million sign ups(in the email). Also why would they want to limit the next beta to tens of thousands if they have the potential to get a whole lot more than that from pre buyers. Just doesn't make sense, I'm betting on a wording mix up. There has to be some kind of load test in there somewhere.
The same piece of info we are. Also, on the bottom of the details page for the CE, it says prepurchasing gives you automatic access to all the beta events. But... you can't prepurchase until 4/10, and the first event is late Match... right? What am I missing?
From massively.joystiq.com:
So apparently we need to pre-order from buy.guildwars2.com for the full 3 days.
Will I be able to reserve character and guild names during the Headstart Access?
Yes, players who have Headstart Access will be able to claim character and guild names during that period that will carry over when Guild Wars 2 goes live. Players who pre-purchase and receive 3-day Headstart Access will have an advantage over players who pre-order and receive 1-day Headstart Access.
Now that is optimism. The wording could also just be because they reached a milestone. So they've decided to restructure their schedule and by announcing a pre-order date they're now very sure that the game will release by summer.

You're missing the fact that early access & beta access are for ALL copies... not just the CE.
The true test is yet to come though. And I hope they take ample time in order to fix stuff like town and WvW slideshows.I'm still thinking late May/early June. The game seems pretty pollished and all their talk about the release being soon after the beta has me optimistic.
