Digital deluxe edition for me :-) cant wait!!! Im excited as hell.... I think the march beta is still going on for more bug tests maybe for the unplayable races and areas of the last beta and the tests in april until release will be stress testing

Digital deluxe for sure. Awesome awesome news. Lordy, please don't fall into the same line of Diablo 3's release time. My life will be over entirely.

£129?

Going to buy it :F

The Collector's Edition is going to cost you $149.99, but ArenaNet certainly seems to be providing bang for your buck: a 10-inch statue of the iconic Rytlock Brimstone and his sword Sohothin, a custom frame with five Guild Wars 2 art prints, a book on the making of Guild Wars 2, a soundtrack CD, and five in-game items (including a mini Rytlock), all of which should make this a pretty tempting order for super fans of the game. The Digital Deluxe pre-purchase is only going to run you $79.99, and the Standard Edition will be $59.99 -- again, any three of those will secure you the Hero's Band, a place in beta events, and a three-day head start. Pre-ordering Guild Wars 2 from select retailers will reserve you a copy of the game at launch and entitle you to a one-day head start.

So...beta won't start until after April 10th? That's shitty.
I'll probably get digital deluxe.

I think that's what the wording makes it seem like, but I would think they would still do the end of march beta. It woul be kind of shitty of them to send an email out to the people who signed up yesterday and then come out with this the day after saying basically it was pointless to sign up and the betas won't happen til april.

Perhaps invite only March beta, close for a week for fixes/updates, then open beta from pre-orders starting April 10th.

CE for me. I can't miss out on the art book, plus with no monthly fee on a game I'll spend forever on I can justify a $150 price.

The elite skill in the DD and CE is odd, though. I'm almost afraid to go over to GW2Guru to see the reaction.

Seems like it's just a pet or something... probably won't have a big impact on balance or anything. There will probably be an equivalent skill with a different effect in game.

Well, I thought I was going to get the CE, seeing as I had it for Guild Wars 1, but at $90 extra, apparently I was lying to myself. Especially since I'll most likely end up buying character slots to play all the classes. The DD edition looks a little disappointing, to be honest. Most of the things in it are temporary. It would have been nice to have digital versions of the book or the soundtrack, or some extra character slots.

Tough call for me because I have the game pre-ordered for 29$, but it won't be the Deluxe edition.

How did you manage to get that?

I was just actually rethinking the DD myself. Its seems like your paying to test out some of the stores items. The banker and the pvp and guild boost all are limited use and seem like they will be in the store. May just be getting the basic edition.

I was really hoping for a skin or character slot or at least something more permanent.

I think the only one I would be tempted in is the digital deluxe version but since all the items are temporary might just end up with the regular.

They aren't all temporary. There is a minipet there that will last forever. In GW1 collectors edition minipets became very valuable over time.

The "Summon Mistfire Wolf" elite skill sounds awesome, but as a human you will have the ability to summon "Hounds of Balthazar" which are fiery hounds for free as a racial skill. The Chalice and the Tome are a one-time use and it's only for extra Glory and extra influence for a guild I believe.

25GBs? DAAAAMN that's a lot of space. Well already have the standard edition pre-ordered at GameStop, hope that gets me something. No way in hell am I spending 150 for a CE.

Why i must be poor :(. That Collector Edition is so good. Will go with the DE <3.

I'm guessing this weeks of March will be the invite beta, April for open beta then May or June for release.

The minimum requirements are nice, if you bought a PC with products released from 2005-2006 to 2011, you are good to go, pretty mainstream.

I need that statue! D:

but will most likely go for the Digital Deluxe edition. ._.

And holy scheit, 25 gb? That sure is a game packing.

There is no way that pet elite will be viable though. The normal edition plebeians will bitch up a storm if it is an optimal skill to use in a build and it will get nerfed into the ground.

Kind of conflicting though since they said "all" betas. An "except for the sign-ups beta" would be an odd supplement. We'll see but I would anticipate that they don't segment as they want pre-orders more then free beta players.

I'm getting the standard release. Al the deluxe stuff is consumable or timed stuff barring that elite.

I doubt it will be strong in any way. It would go against their philosophy for game altering stuff in the store, if it was they may as well go full f2p model. I'm guessing it will be a low powered cosmetic skill more than anything. At least I hope.

Awww, I have a free game at Future Shop, but it expires on March 19th...won't be able to pre-order this in time.

(I'll still pre-order it)

I would think if they cancelled out the march beta that they wouldn't intentially mention that they can't invite all of the million sign ups(in the email). Also why would they want to limit the next beta to tens of thousands if they have the potential to get a whole lot more than that from pre buyers. Just doesn't make sense, I'm betting on a wording mix up. There has to be some kind of load test in there somewhere.

Load test before the tenth, maybe two if there is no problems with the first and they can invite more to the second. Then open it up to prebuyers after the tenth and they would gain more and be load testing the entire time, then you get the head start which will be on the actual servers, then the day one head start will be a big leap then finally the launch day. Just makes sense for a ramp up to server load which seems to be the only big thing that needs beta tested.

Released April 28th? I can only hope
I Can already see the headlines from April 10th about how all previous pre-order records have been shattered.

Wow... so expensive for the collectors edition!!!

I want this game as much as the next fan but dear god... $150?! that's redic!!!

I'll stick with the $49.99 copy I think... it's good to know you can pre-order now though. Does this mean it'll be competing with Diablo 3 still? Wonder when they'll announce the actual release date too then since you can pre-order it now.

Fuuuuuuck. $150 for the CE is almost borderline gouging. I wish there was a physical version of the digital deluxe, since I honestly don't care TOO much about the physical bonuses.

The elite skill will most likely be upgraded editions only. It will probably work like the Fire Imp in GW1 where you can only use it up until level 19 of 20. Or, it'll be such an underwhelming elite that you'll never want to slot it over any other elite. I hope that if it's unique, it would be the former.

Edit: And it's kinda sleazy that preorder people can snatch up all the names ahead of time.

Well i was going to pay up £130 for the collectors but i've decided to just go for the regular edition now. I'd love the statue, book, and OST but i can't really justify that much for it seeing as i'll buy the OST from itunes or something anyway. The stuff in the delux edition seem pretty bad seeing as only two are permanent and the elite skill will most likely be meh, definitely not worth the extra £20. If the standard edition is priced at £40 i'll go for that and use the money i was planning to spend on the CE in the cash shop for cosmetics etc. I already have it pre-ordered for £29.99 but i'm willing to pay the extra £10 for the two days head start, i've waited so long an really want to be there on the first day so i can justify the extra money, plus no monthly fee..

Also, on the bottom of the details page for the CE, it says prepurchasing gives you automatic access to all the beta events. But... you can't prepurchase until 4/10, and the first event is late Match... right? What am I missing?

Could be. But poor wording on their part if true. They could also go the other way and the beta is sign-ups + pre-order. Somebody twitter them.

The same piece of info we are.

From massively.joystiq.com:

So apparently we need to pre-order from buy.guildwars2.com for the full 3 days.

From the FAQ:

Will I be able to reserve character and guild names during the Headstart Access?

Yes, players who have Headstart Access will be able to claim character and guild names during that period that will carry over when Guild Wars 2 goes live. Players who pre-purchase and receive 3-day Headstart Access will have an advantage over players who pre-order and receive 1-day Headstart Access.

Pre-order is a one day, pre-purchase is the full 3 days. No idea if other retailers will allow a pre-purchase or if that is exclusive to ANet. I'm assuming getting it from ANet will be through pre-purchase only, since that's usually how other companies do it.

There's the chance they went with that wording because the March beta weekend is under NDA. Especially if it's primarily for load test.

The wording could also just be because they reached a milestone. So they've decided to restructure their schedule and by announcing a pre-order date they're now very sure that the game will release by summer.

You're missing the fact that early access & beta access are for ALL copies... not just the CE.

Now that is optimism.

I'm still thinking late May/early June. The game seems pretty pollished and all their talk about the release being soon after the beta has me optimistic.

I think he is refurring the the late march sign in beta not matching up with the statements of "all betas" for pre buying on april 10th. If "All beta's" are after the 10th this makes the late march beta questionable, but I think it's just a poor choice of wording.

The true test is yet to come though. And I hope they take ample time in order to fix stuff like town and WvW slideshows.

True. As for slideshows are you talking about the framerate issues? Hoping the time between the last beta and this one was mostly optimization. This would be the one to see, would also give reason for the NDA if optimization is all over the place.
