Well, I've read through this thread. It seems that its alright if I buy the game, and the end isn't so terrible to invalidate the rest of it? ME3 is still an experience worth having?

GREAT game. Just pretend the last 10 min is a dream lol

In short, yes. Despite the ending, it's well worth buying as far as I'm concerned.

I think it is. I really enjoyed it for the 35 hours it took me.

I second this. Don't let the ending ruin the game for you. I mean it's easier for me to say just ignore it than to actually do it, because I still haven't gotten over it, but you'll be better off if you can ignore the ending.

It is an amazing experience in my opinion. So many emotional moments, and some really great action. With a solid ending it would be on my "greatest games of all time"list.

I think it's a great game too. It's my favorite of the series i think, it's very hard for a 3rd act to accomplish that

Certainly, the rest of the game is truly remarkable. Probably the best thing Bioware has done in quite some time.

I still think the game is by far the best in the series. Up to the last 10 minutes, everything is just amazing. I don't like the ending at all but I still love the game. No other series has made me more connected with the characters than Mass Effect, and ME3 makes you more connected with your favorite characters than ever before, so I guess that's the main reason why the ending makes me upset. I want to know what happens to them.

He's been indoctrinated since the First Contact War, but do to the way he was exposed and his own will he'd been able to resist it up till ME3 or so. Those hunches he had about the Collectors came from his indoctrination. It's also why he has cyborg eyes like Saren.

Well.. that still doesnt explain the issues i raised.. unless one makes the argument that the illusive man was acting the way he did because he was indoctrinated and therefore did not think rationally, which would be very weak.

I agree, though I put the entire Mass Effect series at around 3/5 with the consuming atmosphere and funny jokes being the series's best qualities.

@masseffect I loved 98% of ME3..but something has to be up w/ ending..too much talent at BW for that business. Keep my saves?

masseffect
@redzppln We're keeping our saves, that's for sure.

Well... I guess we wait now till PAX East or something, who knows.

Guys can you tell me another story about THE shepard.

There was this one time he walked on water and fed some guys infinite fish and stuff but then the bad reapers put him on the crucible and killed him :(

Don't worry, he was Lazarus Project'd back to life three days later.

It's a PR account. It's no more than a front to be a "voice" to please the fans.

Don't take anything from that account seriously?

Don't you guys remember the "high-rez" textures thing?

LMAO. From the Mass Effect twitter.

User 1: "I still want to believe you guys are sneaky trolls and have something going on you don't tell us yet. Can I get a cryptic reply?"
@masseffect: "The sun, it shines. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=v1PBptSDIh8"

Edit:Inserted correct link.

What the ...

They told us before ME3 even came out to keep our saves. Hmmm....
Which saves? Do they matter? You still get the same endings.

Assuming it's free, I don't see much problem with it.

What makes you think they'll fix it?

Assuming they "fix" it. Anything is better than what we currently have on our discs.

It brings up some pretty serious ethical and moral issues and sets a really bad precedent. No one really gave a shit with Fallout 3 because it wasn't a story driven game plus we actually got more content out of that DLC.

As I mentioned earlier, if the ending was due to time constraints or other factors beyond their control, I could forgive them for releasing an unfinished product *if* they owned up to their mistake. But then again, I'm a pretty forgiving person.

Basically I'd rather have Bioware realized their mistake, owned up to it, and fixed it, rather than ignorantly denying all the criticisms and fallout from the current ending, and all that is left is Space Ghost Kid + Green/Blue/Red Space Magic. To give an example, I'd rather have a post-release patched KOTOR2 than the currently flawed release fans of the franchise currently have.

What the ...

Pretty much the guy running the ME Twitter account admitting he's trolling everyone.

I forgot to mention, the last thing I saw before the final mission was Tali and Garrus about to go at it.

My thoughts:

Then Tali goes on about using Garrus for his body... girl doesn't fuck around.

There's 25+ hours of greatness and 5-10 minutes of crap for the ending. Personally for me once I get over the ending I'm probably gonna look back at it as one of the best games I've ever played (I put ME 1 & 2 up there too)

Well.. that still doesnt explain the issues i raised.. unless one makes the argument that the illusive man was acting the way he did because he was indoctrinated and therefore did not think rationally, which would be very weak.

He makes increasingly poorer decisions the longer he was under their influence. He basically followed the same path as Saren, but at a much slower rate and on a grander scale. Its worth noting that both he and Saren were indoctrinated by the same device within days of each other. I don't really think its a strong way to develop the character, after reading the Evolution comic I think Bioware wanted Saren and TIM to mirror each other. The only reason I think Saren didn't make Husks was because his task required more subtlety at the time, but otherwise both he TIMs action and arguments are very similar.

So the twitter account was trolling everyone. Nice.

I hope we get to choose the color of the producer when the management is going to ask him why there's such a backlash for one of their popular series.

Can someone please summarise what the exact problem with the ending is? Too many pages to read through.

You played Deus Ex: Human Revolution? Did you notice the discrepancy between the boss fights and the actual game? The last 10 minutes of the game is like that, except on a narrative level.

They're not CDProject Red, so they won't give it up for free.

And "fix" what?

Fix the ending, e.g. lack of closure.

Plot holes that you can drive a Reaper through. Choices not mattering. Only difference being what color the magic space beam is. Normandy randomly fleeing from battle, making it light hours to the Charon Relay, with your fucking Squad on board, somehow.
